I always thought it was strange cuz he definitely doesn’t feel like he’s casting spells, but instead of effectively nerfing the card, they could just make it more clear he’s casting the spells. Just removing that interaction is kinda cringe
Kali doesn't need to change, it's fun card, it has a setup to make it work, (if you are not elemental shaman) and in base, pay off is not good, but the only time he manage to get a spotlight they decide to shoot him in the face and later ask a question "why nobody playing this card"
Tbh it makes sense to me why its getting changed. Shudderblock explicitly says that the battlecries cant damage the enemy hero, but a choose one of 4 as a result of the battlecry DOES get to damage them?
Am I the only one to find hypocritical to agree with Kibler yesterday and defend an OTK today? Like: "Yeah, we hate non-interactive scenarios and the OTK tendencies of recent hearthstone... UNLESS they use the new cards, if they uses the new cards that are fine :)" Bruh?!??!?! What??!?! And I know this deck literally folds to the slightest amount of armour and any class can become an armour class with the arkanite defence crystal but still! the reasoning provided is totally legit! Yes Kalimos technically goes through picking a "spell" to deal damage but if you apply that reasoning then a card like Bob shouldn't be able to steal an elusive minion like Unkilliax because he too technically goes through picking a "spell" to steal a minion and shouldn't therefore be able to target an Unkilliax... which is not the case and shouldn't be the case since it's ALL still part of the effect of a battlecry minion.
The problem isn't OTKs in general. This deck is an OTK, but needs 5 cards PLUS a set up turn. The problem addressed in Kibler's video were meta decks dominating the rest of the meta. Those decks happen to be primarily OTK decks that choke out a multitude of archetypes and stratedies, and THAT'S why those certain OTK/combo decks are problematic. OTK/Combo simply existing is not the problem. And this is a deck that has no chance of being meta relevant. It's just a fun, stupid, goofy combo.

Yes, technically speaking Kalimos casts a spell but by that same logic Bob shouldn't be able to steal elusive minion because he casts a spell too, yet Bob CAN steal elusive minion and that's because the WHOLE effect counts as the battlecry or at least this is how I see it on the most intuitive level of understanding. I think this is the reasoning behind the dev's decision to change this interaction. I wholeheartedly agree, this is very reminiscent of old style OTKs but it's a shame the only old style OTK to be a thing needs a bug to be playable.
@@ClarkHellscream Brian was mostly referring to the lack of interactivity with the board and what the opponent is doing. You cant play minion focused decks anymore because bs tactics remove the board no matter how much you invest into it. All your cards have to have instant and dramatic payoffs to be viable and anything with any flavour or originality gets punished. OTK decks in the current meta ARE ALWAYS part of this problem. For me I am sick of the paper scissors stone of it all and just want to be able to break out a control deck and have at least a chance of winning vs any opponent as opposed to facing some scam bait YET AGAIN for the 50th meta in a row to the point all the fun is sapped away. Hate stuff like this, it's pretty barrel scrapey if you ask me.
I think it's cool, but it's still an OTK combo deck, and by the looks of it a really inefficient one at that. Really sick way of doing it, but at the end of the day whether or not they change it probably won't make a difference.
Mixing in Bob and ETC is too much. Long as you have 9mana, just Murmur, Alextraza, Shudderblock, Kalimos. Does the exact same thing but with 5 less cards. But sure, if you wanna greed this 2 turns sooner, be my guest 😂

You just need 3 cards for that... two locations and the tourist to put them in your deck. you can then cut the whole combo to just murmur, alex, shudderblock and Kalimos and can otk as heart as turn 5, even turn 4 would be doable if you play greedy partner. Greedy partner on 2, location + iceshard on 3, coin coin murmur on 4 then combo. Edit: this presumes you're going second of course but that would mean you could actually have all the cards by turn 4! You start with 4 card and have 4 draws to assemble a 6 card combo... you don't need etc and bob at all!!! they just slow the deck down like crazy!!

Play the deck. You will get to pull off this combo 1 every 30 times played. My math isn't tested but it doesn't happen as frequently as you would believe.

This deck combo exist since day 1 of the new expansion and i don't get why ppl make it more complicated by adding bob and etc. Nerfing that sound really dumb cause against aggro you're probably dead before using it, if not, i think it's normal to get rewarded and against slower/control deck, they just need 2 armor to counter the combo, thing they always have (warrior, dk, priest, litteraly all ship class).
It's a matter of consistency. By Kalimos logic Bob shouldn't be able to target elusive minions with it's steal effect since it's technically not the effect of a minion but a spell cast by a minion but since that would be utterly dumb and idiotic and I still have the hope the devs don't want to incentivise OTKs and none-interactive strategies they changed it to be more in line with what being a battlecry minion actually means
ETC allows you to run 1 legendary instead of 3 specific legendaries you need for the combo. Bob is also insane because now you can do the combo by turn 7 if you have all the set up cards. This deck loves the addition of Bob. It was possible, but my Lord, I played Murmur Shaman Day One of the release, and I cannot tell you how unbelievably slow that deck was. While with this deck, I popped off the combo first match.

the odds of playing that before turn 10+ is very low while rogue is casting 3-4x 8/8's turn 6 while spending 40+ mana on that turn. so here is what i have been saying FOREVER the blizzard team always jumps on anything Shaman does that is good yet Rogue has since BETA "see Edwin" been cheating the game every single season. of all the uninteractive stuff right now, the late game, 3 card minimum 18 damage combo should not be a priority.
