We've come a long way from the 2005 oversized 9th Doctor's sonic that looked all plastic and could only be lit up if extended/retracted to 2 specific points
Looks like the remote from the Adam Sandler movie click. I love how far the tech has come! Would be great if they did an ultimate collector's line of sonics
I can understand where people who say it just doesn't feel like it should be a sonic screwdriver are coming from, but the whole season seems intent on going in it's own different direction, and sometimes, "different" can be good or bad, depending on how it's done. We've gotten at least one character who had been comics only in Beep, the Toymaker returned for the first time since the First Doctor's season, I'd say we're getting "good" type different.

Glad they’ve made a way for the packaging to be opened and closed without damaging the box
