Very interesting. This would do well using sound-on--sound/looping. I am curious to know what sort of springs you have and where do you find them. Is there a specific name for the springs? Do you happen to know what the springs are made of? All the best to you. I hope I may hear back from you. Peace.
Hi Robert. The springs were from a schools supply shop. They use them in physics to demonstrate oscillation and sine waves etc. I think the shop was in America and about £15 each. They may also have been from the UK, sorry, can't remember. I think I just googled school science supplies.
Be carful the guy in Turkey really hates people to copy him. I had to stop playing mine because he was threatening me and sending me horrible emails. It killed the sprit of the instrument. He feels he invented the idea of using a sting to a drum. But you could buy a spring drum back in 1960’s and many countries sell thunder drums like in Bali. There was the magic mic back in the 60’s that was a spring to a drum that you sing into or play music into for a echo reverb effect. He claims he will sue any one who tries to make one or play one.
I have had no threats, probably because he copied me. Have you seen his latest addition of the bass drum pedal connected to a beater that hits the drum? That was my invention, and 6 months after I posted a video of it, he added it to his Yaybahar.
Wow that's so sad... As soon as I heard its sound, yaybahar became my favourite instrument, it really shouldn't belong to anyone ! Hope you guys will be able to play it as you like
The range of potential sounds, incredible.
Thanks :)
absolutely magnificent! Thanks for sharing
Wow sci-fi music, Gary numan has he seen this?
Sounds like the sound track from the Star Trek movie with Vger.;D

@@tamanwar203 I do play it as I like.
Aw well fuck that guy. Bin his emails, and if he tries to stir up further shit, see if you can't pursue legal action against that nitwit.
He's a really chilled out guy and has replied nicely to my enquiries about his new build. Perhaps you caught him on a bad day.
!!!
Why do you put the drums backwards?
I did have them the other way, but they sound better like this. I'm currently working on extending the shells to about 500mm.
I prefer the ambient space sounds not the Arabic tone
It's good for both, but was designed around the Arabic scale and feel.
What the hell
You don't like it?
