    I do this with all my lures that are supplied with trebles. Some companies are now providing both styles of hooks with their lures. Another advantage of singles is far less tangles in your lure box! Buying some micro split ring pliers was not expensive and made the whole process very easy. Deciding on replacement single hook size could do with some explanation. One of the old recommendations that the replacement single should match the full gape of the treble doesn't always work on lures with multiple hooks as you can end up with singles that overlap and tangle.

      Very true. I am still to find split ring pliers for 3-4 mm. rings though..

      @@AndrewsKnots The pliers you need are the Spro Micro Split Ring V pliers. The tiny V nose easily pops the smallest 4mm split rings I use on some tiny crankbaits. No more stabbed fingers or swearing!

    Great video. I didn't fancy my chances of catching today in the chocolate coloured canal, so I used the time and converted my unused treble hooked lures 👍.

    Is it the same to just cut 2 hooks from the trebles and leave 1 hook exposed?

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tried that last year. It works but nowhere as good as normal single hook. Also, once 2 points removed the 3rd very rarely will be perfectly inline..

    Less sea weed on single hooks.
    Be careful with floating wobblers or crank bait, if they are weighted to match that of 2x tripple hooks weight.
    Single hooks weigh less and can disrupt how the lure moves - especially at spin stop.
    Make a float test afterward

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only issue I can see with the weight is for critically balanced lures, which do sink slowly with factory matched trebles.. Other than that, single hooks actually improve the movevent of the lure as explained in the video. 👌

    If you dont need those big ugly split rings on your lure just cut them off with wire cutters it will be faster and less chance to hook your self with old treble hook :D

    • @AndrewsKnots
      @AndrewsKnots  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No new information here. Tried it before creating the video and it does not work!
      In theory you could cut off the split rings but for that you would need some heavy duty wire cutters as regular ones are designed for copper or aluminum wire BUT not for forged stainless steel as used for split rings. 👌
      Cheers
