    I really appreciate seeing how you go about your work. I like how your studio seems reasonable and that you use paper as an inexpensive backdrop, very clever! As an aspiring content creator, full time MBA student, and full time HR partner it is always cool to see people who can multitask while still being productive throughout the day. I just got my first IPad, a 12.9in Pro model, and yesterday I picked up a M1 MacBook Pro 16” for $1520 open box and in great shape.

    Just switched from the 13 inch M1 to a 14 inch M1 Pro 16 GB ram.
    DEFINITELY a lot bulkier. But the screen is perfect, not as heavy as the 16 inch. I initially ordered the 16 inch M1 pro MacBook, but I realized it was so heavy and I need it for on the go tasks.
    I don’t even edit or video edit. I like having more. Much better than my M1 13 inch, finally no touchbar. Finally MagSafe. Glad to see a lot of things back. This is a 10 year computer for us regular users, and i’m okay with that!

    First time watching one of your videos- absolutely loved everything about this. Brilliant day in the life with chill vibes off the charts and insightful use cases. I am intrigued you said at the end that perhaps the base model doesn’t solve your cross platform issues. Would a higher spec version be an option you may explore? Look forward to watching more of your content :)

    🍣 I picked up the base 14MBP in an emergency and while I’m pleased with its performance I’m ordering the 10core/16core GPU model with 32MB and 1TB. Time lapse and panoramic stitching using Lightroom is good, but not that much different from the 2017 16MBP that died.

    Im a full time graphic designer but I also do animation and web design. I went with M1 pro max 14inch with 32 gb of ram and I can tell u it’s much faster than my mbp 16 inch from 2019 that was fully specked out. My export times are incredible and im loving the 14 inch over my 2019 16. Just found the channel and love the content.

      Could you help me decide on a size/spec? I’m graduating in the spring doing graphic design and I’m coming from a 13” 2015 MacBook Pro. I also have a 10.5” iPad Air which is lovely. Can’t decide on a size

    • @sharkboy980
      @sharkboy980 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@doingtheellathing I believe the m1x the 10 core with 24 core gpu. The 32 gpu is overkill even for my work flow so I went with that. 14 inch with 32gb of ram and 512-1tb of storage is ideal. I have a t7 Samsung ssd so I went with 512 storage. If your only doing graphic design and not any animation work or after effects work the base model with 16-32gb of ram should do too.

    • @doingtheellathing
      @doingtheellathing 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sharkboy980 my main thing is screen size. Is the 14” big enough or is it worth the 16” even if it’s harder to travel with. I’ve only ever had a 13”

      @@doingtheellathing for me my 2019 16 inch was annoying carrying around. My primary setup is docked when I’m at home on my monitor which is more optimal than 14 or 16. When I’m on the go I prefer the 14. This is the first time apple made it that I can get the smaller screen size and have the same specs as the 16.

    Very nice take on the day in the life and your rationale for trying out the base model. I don’t do or use anything close to what you do professionally but I also struggled between choosing between the base 14in 10core 16gpu with 16GB unified memory and upgrading to 32gb. One of Maxtech’s videos convinced me that the additional 600 AUD spend for 32gb was not needed because the SSD speeds of the cheaper upgrade to a 1TB drive made up for it, along with the unified architecture. So far I’m very happy with my decision. Just sharing my opinion that maybe for what you do, you need the base but at least 32gb and 1TB or more. All the best. 🍣

    Hi! I am a graphic and web designer, and soon I am going to train in UX/UI. I have a MacBook Pro 13” from 2016 that I am looking forward to upgrading because it is too slow, noisy and gets very hot. A few months ago I was able to test the 14” and 16” M1 Pro for a few days, both with 10c/16c/16Gb/1Tb, and the truth is that they worked really well. What I am going to use the most is going to be the Adobe design suite, Figma, specifically Premiere or FCPX for something normal (4K with 1 or 2 layers, some color correction and some transition), some RAW photo development of a 26mpx APS-C in Capture One and video calls with Zoom. Do you think that with these models I have equipment for 3/4 years? It's that on Amazon they are usually discounted, and I have even seen the 14” 8c/14c/16Gb/512Gb for €1,995 currently, but I don't know if it will fall short of power. The idea is not to think too much in the future and use it rather 3/4 years, since I think that Apple's processors by then will have improved a lot. Let's see if you can give me your opinion, based on your experience, to go for the base 14” or jump to the 16” with which I would gain screen and battery, although I will do the big jobs with a 4K monitor. Thank you and sorry for the long message!

    I’m curious to finally upgrade to the new-ish 14” MacBook Pro after several or so years + with a pre-retina 13” MacBook Pro that can’t go beyond Catalina. I think we all want to “future-proof” our tech by getting the latest and greatest, the highest specs, etc., but do you really need all that power? I feel I might get by with that base model, but the nagging question is what if your needs change? I kinda wished that the 14” had a 24GB unified memory option for a tad more wiggle room, but I suppose 16GB is fine. By the time I’ve saved up enough for the M1 Pro 14”, the new one might come out 🤷‍♂️ 🍣

    Here’s the obligatory 🍣 that you asked for.
    In all seriousness, the M1 chip itself will suffice for me, but if the M1 Pro or M1 Max ever do make their way to a future Mac Mini, I would be pretty tempted to go for it.

    Isn’t it funny that today they also released the first clip of get back, the Beatles documentary, and your video is called a day in the life

  • @xXRpB3ASTXx

    So I decided to go with the greatest no brainer configuration 16.5" M1 Pro base model for an extra 200$ over the 14" M1 pro base model. Mainly because you get a bigger XDR display and it has more battery life then the MacBook air! Plus I get two extra CPU cores & two extra GPU cores which is a bonus for me. In addition I also upgraded the SSD to 1TB for future proofing. If you have any spare time and would like to check out my M1 pro unboxing with a beginners perspective since I only shot it with my iPhone 📹😁Thank you in advance and I hope you have a great day.

    Nice video - too bad about the export times. I have a new 14” - not the base but just a notch up. I’ve been using it for personal stuff including light photo editing, streaming videos, word processing and spreadsheets - i also worked on some large high res satellite images in qgis and moved all my music to it. Overall I’ve been happy - I have run into issues with the sd card slot not always reading sd cards. 🍣

      Nightmare about the SD card reader! Thanks for watching

      I could add that I also found the laptop runs pretty cool - a big improvement vs some other intel based ones that become pretty hot. The only time mine gets warm is during charging - and when I tried out one of the modern crop of games - with gaming I did find the laptop starting engaging fans, getting warm and generally sort of freaking out. This was the Life is Strange game, which has a lot of intense imagery etc - not a big deal for me as I don't really game much but might be something to be aware of

    🍣I absolutely love your contents :) I moved to the 14” M1 Pro base model from the 2017 Mac generation, and it is blowing my mind: Lightroom and photoshop workflow, even with large Sony file images does an excellent working, no lagging, no fans activation or noise, very fast processing. I saw other reviews and, conserning the export time from Premier Pro..the issue seems to be Premiere Pro, not optimized on the Apple Silicon M1, in fact the timing of an export of a similar project on Final Cut is amazing… the big elephant in the room 😂 good luck

    I also got the base model for video editing and I notice no one talks about how great iMovie is on these macs. I plan on editing in final cut but that’s 300$ now so I’ve just been putting together my clips in iMovie for the mean time and it’s been so smooth.

    • @ByteReview
      @ByteReview  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a fair point, I think it’s because most of us are editing for work so it’s always final cut or Premiere Pro! This is killer for final cut though 👌🏻
