Yeah I mean kmac did a nice version but it’s not one of those times where you can act like he did better than the original. Dan’s just got the perfect interpretation of this song, especially with the grit he adds to his voice in the latter half.
this song is actually really dark considering how softly it hits the ear. its still an absolute masterpiece. I love the part where he says "ill never say a word of this. I swear" the instrumental part that corresponds with these lyrics always sends chills up my spine
"I live tonight through methadone highs." Wow! I was on methadone maintenance for 5 years. I listened to this mind-blowing band almost every day for the last year, on the way TO and FROM the methadone clinic. TesseracT has moved me emotionally ever since I first heard them. Synergy?? maybe....

Hey I just turned 24, have been off methadone for almost a year after 3 years mmt + 3 years of downtown use prior. It hasn't been going very good, my friends gave up on me while I was still on it, my family aren't very supportive, and I have had 3 major accidents ( broken left radius, right elbow, and fractured spine) but I am eating healthy, have most range of motion back and start uni in 6 days studying classical composition with piano so hopefully I meet some more friends there. I think a huge thing you guys should do is try and get your patients to eat enough healthy food and drink plenty of water, as well as exercise; It's made all the difference in my recovery. But yeah I do think about opiates every hour of my life and drink 3-5 bottles of red a week. Just try to stay compassionate and push your patients forward as my case managers were stuck in the 9-5 drudgery mentality (not trying to take the blame away from myself). Let me know if you want to hear my music or read anything I've written. Ciao
Hellion6325 There was an interview in which Amos stated that Dan was a policeman and that April is based on one of his experiences :P Unfortunately, I don't remember the website :/
Damn TesseracT have so much awesome potential. You don't just hear djent in this, you hear Crimson, Floyd, Tool - they're pushing for those same heights as the greats. So exciting it is just the beginning of their career and I can't wait to see where these guys are in a couple of years.
@@HaroldnolikeGeraldyeah cause thats the theme of the song Genius, it's bassed on a real case the singer encountered on his former years as a police officer
Anyone coming from Kmac I love his cover so much but I can never get enough of Daniel Tompkin's voice. I wouldn't say I prefer the cover as much as I respect it
Here is the wikipedia version: "Djent is an 'underground' genre of Heavy Metal. The word "djent" is an onomatopoeia for a heavily palm-muted, distorted guitar chord. It is considered to have been inspired by tech-metal band Meshuggah. Typically, the word is used to refer to music that makes use of this sound, to the sound itself, or to the scene that revolves around it. Its meaning is the subject of much debate, and there is some controversy in regards to its classification as a new subgenre"
i broke my leg from getting hit by a car riding my bike at night. i was listening to this song when it happened in september 2011. then i broke the same leg again in April 2012....weird as fuck. the day before 4/20 too, fml
This song got me through some hard times... Not even a djent/prog guy either. Here I am, back here after 4+ years of not hearing this song. Still has the same impact.
I love this song. Just learned of this band. I don't care for their other songs, too metal for me, but this song, THIS SONG MOVES ME. So thank you to whoever made this video for supplying the lyrics and the graphics. It just made it mean that much more to me. Thank you.
I will check it out, thank you!! I knew that had a couple of albums, but I didn't know which one would cater to me the way this song did. ;-) I didn't know their singer had left and returned. Is there a story behind that?
Molly A. Block in their statement the reason for parting ways with their current singer, Ashe, was that 'they had found theirselves in different places, creatively', whatever that means.
Genuinely though I was listening to KMAC then. BTW love you guys, I remember seeing you live by accident in Bristol with Karnivool, amazing night... bought a used signed drum skin.

oh cool tesseract did a cover of kmacs song
Tbh i prefer the original

After reading these comments, this band owes Kmac a concert ticket or two.
For those who don't know, this song is about sexual abuse.
Dan Tompkins was a policeman, and this song is based on one of the criminals he faced ;)

..soft and djently.. This is the genre of Tesseract
This is devastatingly beautiful
Those sounds...so incredible!
This is terrific. Really atmospheric and menacingly heavy at the same time. The clean guitar playing is fantastic.

the best song of Tesseract, in my opinion
The juxtaposition of writing beautiful music and singing painfully dark lyrics over it.

3:29 the most relaxing melody ever
