nah, skyharbor is different.. they had dan for a while but still had a much different sound.
Devilish Chap I think tesseract is really special due to their minimalism. I think sky harbor and bands like it are much more complex, which is good, but I think tesseract just knows how to write a simple, excellent song, even though their stuff is progressive. For example, the structure of this song is just two different motifs played one after another two times. And it's FUGGIN POWERFUL. Anyway, there's my opinion you didn't ask for! Cheers!

As I got more and more into prog I slowly began to lose the feeling of emotion in music because i was so focused on the technicalities of the instruments being played until I heard this song. This song reintroduced the reason why I love music so much. I literally feel this shit deep inside my rib cage. Such a beautifully written song.
Love this band for the amount of feels they have in their music. Just a suggestions for ya though in case you don't already listen to him...check out Devin Townsend's discography. Ear and brain candy at the same time. I was running into a rut with prog until I discovered his music a while ago.

How I discovered this band:
1 - Spotify is on shuffle, plays Of Matter, telling myself "meh sounds like its gonna be some generic autopilot prog metal" and skip it.
2 - Spotify keeps suggesting the song to me and rhe same scenario happens about a hundred times.
3 - One day the song starts and I can't skip it (hands busy), after 1 min I'm like "Holy shit this is so good", listens the album about a hundred times.
i just read the youtube music description of via by volumes and it mentions via, the discovery by born of osiris, måsstaden by vildhjarta, and one by tesseract all being albums in 2011 that heavily contributed to the djent scene and i love via, the discovery, and måsstaden so i thought i may as we'll check out one.
As someone who really likes the heavier sub-genre's of metal, discovering this is like taking a break and going for a walk at the local park. This is just so perfect, it's quirky, its got some heavy riffs and is just not something that's been overly done before and I love it.
Can't believe how OUTSTANDING this is... I'm ashamed to be stumbling upon this so late in the game!! Just WOW

I love any song that keeps you waiting until halfway through to reveal itself. That's what makes music worth listening to
The "It isn’t a secret" refrain with it's 4x repeated (1+)4+4+4+2 beat is brilliant of course. Those lyrics make it even better as almost no one understands it at first, until they see the lyrics and then... "Ooooh, yeah!".
This is one unique song
Everyone has said enough about the quality and brilliance of this song but I will advise everyone to play this in its natural sequence after Dystopia... The combination makes this song even more powerful.

Sorry to jump in but I agree with Jacob, Ashe has a great voice but Dan is just right for TesseracT.

Dan is also the better songwriter in terms of melodies really.
Polaris is unparalleled to any album I've heard in a long time, listening to it is like watching a movie but with your ears.
It's hard to choose but I think this is my favorite Tesseract song.
There are so many good ones. I would maybe say nocturne or tourniquet. Calabi yau also has a special place in my heart

That's unfortunate! I saw them shortly after they released Polaris. It was an experience to say the least. Dan has a strong presence. Their performance stuck with me for a long time. Hope you get to see them one day.
This is the single greatest piece of music I have ever and will ever hear. There is no way this can be topped. The saddest part about it is that will never hear this for the first time again.

These guys are great live. We saw them open for DTP back when they hit the states for the first time. We also saw them headline with Ashe before he dropped off the tour in 2013 (?). I am still trying today to get myself to another show...So glad Dan is back! :)
This is the second song I've listened to from this band, and I feel like it's a perfect mix of Tool and Rush. This is quite nice.
