I know exactly what you went through. I had the same problem on my wrx. It was a nightmare! I ended up having to cut the hub and axle off of the spindle to salvage it. Good job staying committed and not giving up!
some others mentioned the air hammer trick but there are a couple other things that could have helped and i say could have because i have run into a couple being from rust country that were more cost effective to replace a spindle. big tip with the air hammer trick leave everything bolted up to break the shaft loose. the shaft will collapse, they are made to for suspension travel and having the spindle mounted firm ensures that the hits from the hammer or air hammer make the maximum effect. quick tip most cars you can just unbolt the lower balljoint and flex the spindle out and occasionally i have to turn the steering wheel so the tie rod doesn't limit the travel then cv pops out and no alignments necessary. i don't know if they still make it but there is a product by CRC called freeze off and that freezes the part and when cold particle contract and get smaller opening up cracks in the rust for the penetrating oil to work into. this stuff makes PB blaster and WD40 look like a fat kid on a go ped racing against moto GP bikes. the can says to spray for a certain amount of time but i always used to do it for a minute to 2 minutes cause the colder the part gets the more it contracts. then hit it with the air hammer if still not moving oxyacetylene torch don't breathe the fumes hit it with the air hammer still hot. if it didn't go heat it again and try a hub press. they make a press that bolts to the hub which is better than that 3 jaw puller cause you can get even force on it. even force does make a difference. still not going? get a good amount of force on it with the press and put the air hammer on the end of the press. with the force and vibration mixed with some heat most things will come unstuck. beware this last trick is dangerous placing the air hammer on the press could break the press causing pieces to go flying but i've done it many times with nothing broken yet though it is a valid concern. also i always escalate from one trick to the next due to danger and things like damaged parts cause once you heat that hot enough to work, the bearing is probably junk. then at that point if still stuck you can remove the spindle and either soak in penetrating oil for a week or replace. that's all the tricks i know and between them i've only seen 2 cv's we couldn't remove and i've been wrenching for more than 10 years most of which was in salted rust country also to be fair we didn't have the hub press at the time of those 2. liking that i'm seeing more women working on stuff just wish more guys would be respectful of this.
Love your videos n your love for getting down n dirty n not being afraid to get a little greasy under your nails. Insane shafts are the best racing shafts on the market and I just spend the day replacing one on my 08 tsx.
I just picked up my evo from English racing 2 days ago and have been thinking about upgrading my axles I'm 600 wheel and so happy I found your channel I'll definitely subscribe
Nothing is ever a simple as it seems in the Automotive World. But all jobs can be done one way or another. Giving up is never an option. Keep kicking ass and thanks for sharing.
50/50 ATF and Acetone. Use a metal oiler from local auto store cuz itll melt plastic. You'll hear it crackle and pop. But works like a charm, WAYY better than PB blaster.
I have changed some axles that even the axle nut super man would of stuggled to remove, then the shaft spline so fused to the hub that ive had to use a monster sledge hammer to break it loose. Eventualy the hitsvfrom the hammer messed up the wheel bearing. Yeah its not a walk in the neighborhood. 💪😬
I love ur ambition and work ethic. My gf goes to work in the morning for 2-3 hours then comes home and watches 10 hours of Netflix until it’s time to go to bed. Ps ur nails look better the darker color at the end 😂
Here's a tip for getting axles out of the transmission , use two prybars, try to get them 180 degrees across from each other. Then you can shimmy it out pretty easily.
I had the same issue with my subaru and the axle being stuck. I literally had to drill the center of the axle out on the hub side, then smash it with a hammer and punch to collapse it so it would get beat through the hub whole. Then spent hours having to shave the splines down in the hub to fit the new axle due to all the metal left from the old axle
Nice video, don’t get me wrong.. But I’m kinda confused on you saying the stocks are rated for around 700whp but the ones you swapped to are rated for around 500whp.🤔I just can’t see how it’s an “upgrade” Think you can clear this up for me? Or is this really what you meant?
I’m sure it’s not that the stock one’s are “rated” for 700, it’s that people have used them at 700 and it worked for them. The insane shafts are actually rated and proven for 500+ hp so you can put them in and know they handle it. Just because the stock ones have worked for people at 700 doesn’t mean it’ll work for you at 700, you’ll be taking that risk if you get the stock ones
Joanna Marie Yup no problem! It’s sort of the same concept with stock clutches and people’s different experiences with how much power they can or can’t hold lol
I have a question about the impact that you use, I use the Milwaukee brushless fuel impact and it works amazingly well, you should do a review between them and also pick yourself up one I promise you wont regret it👍👍
10:53 - Nobody should feel bad on those. Those are a pain for anyone to do. We had a guy come by with his tools directly from a shop to take those things off. When CV shafts snap and all that fun stuff. They are certainly a PAIN to pull out. But for good reason they are tight in there. Nobody wants that stuff coming apart going down the road! HEH.
Now you're replacing those shafts, but i always gets shivers down my spine to see someone bashing the nut and threads. Nice car anyway! If you replacing those boots, you'll have spare parts for a trackday or so.
I'm not sure how much their designs/strength carry over from Subarus to Evos but, Insane Shafts axles aren't very strong from personal experience. While the actual shaft of the axle wont break, its where the boot/bearings are that tend to break, near the wheel hub. A close friend of mine put their 1000hp axles in her bugeye and they broke the very first launch at 500 wheel. You'd be better off with oem axles or some DSS (drive shaft shop) axles. I hope Insane Shafts have rectified some of these issues, or these issues dont exist with their Evo axles, but anyhow best of luck!
"devil's in the details"
I had something similar on my WRX. It's always the "simple" jobs that get you!
Keep up the good work!
Im at 650 and still using autozone duralast axles! cant beat a lifetime warranty 😂
Jose Lopez here 10831 N 10830 N
Rhay Jimenez thanks
Jose Lopez i have an 8 they are perfect fit 😁
I'm still on stock 2003 axles from when I bought the car with 800+who. I'm just using normal UHP summer tires though that helps those axles a lot.
Dam that back arch on 3:15 uf😍.
👍
Yooooo!!! Que cosita más bonita

I didn't even know there was a car in this video..
car? what car?
nah wdym by that?😂

I've had a few seized up. Good ol heated torch does it very well. Awesome work👌

Always use anti-sieze on the axle splines. Keeps these from rusting together in the future.

Evo ix here 625hp stock block stock axles... 4 years of drag racing nd many many 6k launches 👍👍
To each their own but I would have stuck with OEM axles as well. Ppl tend to forget its a performance car and not an economy car.
you could also use Tool Slide Hammer Puller Set
Chrisfix should have showed up to help out
Picking up a set of Insane Shafts for my All Motor CRX as well. Trying to get these 60 foots down without snapping stock axles!
Not even going to lie, in here for the 🎂.
Well we know what Kevin sees when he in cheek city
Lmao
Terrible!
Virus world bruh Kevin is her mans, and when he gonna beat the cheeks up that’s cheeks city 🤦🏽♂️😂
Just ordered a set, how do you like em?
Beautiful form 3:41 😍😋

Sometimes it need a lil vibration to loosen it up..

11:44 Truth Words Not give up Ever ! Good Job !
Nice job getting that axle situation fixed😎💪; I could tell it was definitely testing your patience!
How are axles holding up? Any vibration?
Nunca avia visto tu trabajo pero eres muy buena en tu trabajo felisidades 💪🏻👍🏻

Where was Devin Niemela when you needed him 😂😂😂
Just popped in to check out the rig real quick.
Thanks for bringing us yet another vibe 🥂 enjoyed
Really love your evo it's so beautiful!!!
did you guys try to cut the drive shaft and then remove the piece with the bearing.
For rust I reccomend pb catylist blaster it's like a yellow and white can with yellow top the best
Did the axels fit fine ? No leaks or nothing ? Theres been threads where people run i to that for being too short or just being a little too long ?
how are the cv axles holding up?
Awesome work girl! What lb/ft rating is the impact wrench you used to get the axle nut off?

hello, does your shop also do inner shaft upgrades? the gearbox side?
Nice! Can't wait for the track for sure!
air hammers are king for breaking rust in axles and getting them out.
I was thinking rivet gun myself but yes...air hammer and lots of heat.
You’re doing great, keep up wit those vids.
God bless you J.... family love your channel. I get my wife to see your videos. she says you are amazing. Have a bless day.
Diooosito mio!!!!! Esas tuerqas estan uufff .... Pero con 💪💪 se puede...awsome vid mama keep up the great work..... Dem edits doe..... 👌👌
DAMNNN!!! Those axles are nice and THIIIIICCCC!!! (2:54)
Good work. Get your cotter pin back on the passenger side?
JaEValentino yes 💪🏽
Just a Tip,always use permatex Anti-seize when removing all your hardware, good job..
Turbofedz Yes! I bought some and ended up putting it on. Just didn’t record it. 👍🏽
Very good.👌
Good work beautiful Evo
I can totally relate girl. My fucking prelude always gives me fits when it comes to axles. Like you said. Never give up.
You can use a air hammer next. And it will push the axle out.
Good job with the video, I'm enjoying the content keep it up!
Did you make sure to put the pin on the axle to lock the nut ?
1 hour project turns into a 1 month project
Use a torch. It expands the metal and cracks the rust.
Dope vid sis! Keep up the great work!
Wheel size and tyre size?

Gabe Flores thank you, you explained this very well.
Joanna Marie Yup no problem! It’s sort of the same concept with stock clutches and people’s different experiences with how much power they can or can’t hold lol
Gabe Flores gotcha! That makes sense👍🏽
Invest in a dead blow hammer, they are made of plastic and allow you to beat on stuff without tearing up stuff making the job harder/worse.
It's called "cold fusion" when metal fuses together over time. Yes it sucks
I have a question about the impact that you use, I use the Milwaukee brushless fuel impact and it works amazingly well, you should do a review between them and also pick yourself up one I promise you wont regret it👍👍
I had same problem with my bmw bought a 12 ton puller and that did the job
This my 1st video of yours but i like it shows not everything goes as planed.
Differential or transfer case is what will break before anything else
You know things are about to get real serious when the hair goes up in a bun.. that damn axle is an axhole!!
That back arch is insane.... dag she fine. I'm subscribing
U gotta HEAT it up...
Awesome, love it...actually inspired me to work on my car this weekend (clutch :_) lol
nice work...
Its always nice seeing girls actually working on cars sexy as hell and we didnt notice that small hole till the right axle on the car 😍

Good job 😩
hopefully you put some grease, between hub and axle splines so they don´t rust again...
TAE's on ebay too, got a few parts from them. They've also got a real quick Civic too
dito manita, good thing that you got it out that was very frustrated from watching the your video.....bless you
Wow
Good for you getting that done 👍🏻
Awesome good work
Good job not giving up!
Good job. I had just changed mines on my 10.
Evo 8 🤩
I hope you put some anti seize on everything
Its first time to see you, i i think i lovely you......thanks for videos.
We know the pain, a simple caliper rebuild on my MX-5 has left the car on Axle stands for over three days due to rust 😭
You need an air hammer to remove axles like that.
Damn that evo and nice video it’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯
Air hammer and torch. Done
Love that evo im saving to buy me one
