The tool that I found most useful in order to achieve what the video recommends was a torx T30 screwdriver inserted along the topside of the headrest bar and when it hits the plastic holder, move it slowly toward the side until it reaches the edge of the plastic. Then guide the screwdriver in line with the bar until some resistance is felt. Press firmly in the same direction with the screwdriver while pushing the headrest in the opposite direction. If you have the right location you will feel the headrest give a little in the direction you are pushing. Repeat the process on the other side being careful not to let the released side return to its place. I spent several hours trying to solve this process with flat head screwdrivers but found that with the Torx T30 the other headrests took about 5 minutes each. Perhaps the flat end of a bic pen would work just as well; something about 8 mm in diameter with a flat end is ideal..
You’re the man , I could see a black plastic L by the bar that held the headrest . The only problem was I didn’t know what to do when I felt it . I moved it and it made a faint click .
I used coathanger wire bent at both ends about 5 inches depth (in your language) and simultaneously inserted the tool in applied pressure and "you beauty" it was done :)
I own a W221 s500, the middle rear headrest is not going down when i press the button. The two sides headrest goes down and up smoothly. Do you have an idea about how to lower it manually? it should freely drop down when i press the button. Not anymore. Stuck up.
IV just bin at work first time having to take out u do not push them in u push them down towards the floor a feker I had them pushed in and not. Hope. Would they come out one on drivers side u can see into the left one from bottom that was how I copped u push them down
My headrests one is locked down and the other is stuck up. Can you please share the mechanism drawing. There is a solenoid like puller on driver side. Headrest

check if the abs and tcp/tcs plug is plugged into the abs cruise control box
