The New 2020 Rolex Submariner Kermit!? - 126610LV Review(Hands On)

- Just got the new Rolex 126610LV Submariner “Kermit”. This is a hands-on review and I will be comparing it to my Rolex 116610 Submariner Date that has on a Rolex 116610LV “Hulk” bezel on. I brought my “ceramic” Kermit that I had recreated a while back after acquiring a bezel because I felt it would be a perfect comparison for the color of the bezel and overall dimensions. The color shade of green seems to be exact for both. Side by side the watches appear almost the same in size although the new 126610LV is a 41mm. The lugs seemed to be slimmed down but not from the outside but from the inside lug width instead. The bigger bracelet made a huge change in he proportions of the watch. It will take some getting used to but I feel will be nothing less than a success. I was quite surprised that Rolex released a new black dial green bezel variation considering that the original 16610LV was supposedly the 50th anniversary of the Submariner. My question is why re-release a “50th” anniversary? It safe to say that I liked the idea because I even recreated my own lol, but never thought it would happen. There is no doubt that this will be a hit piece from Rolex for years to come.

That watch is 🔥🔥. I have the 114060 and this would be a fantastic upgrade, definitely not paying 20K plus for one but I think it is just about perfect for a daily wear watch!

And for what reason? from the historical point of view, and for the symmetry of the dial, is the "no date" objectively more beautiful? or is the Date functionality better? Hey Eric, dude, did you notice on the new Rolex 126610lv, i.e. the kermit，the laser etched crown is different than the previous model? The previous model had a single dotted oval shaped circle at the bottom, and the newer version has a double layered dotted oval shaped circle!

Nailed it Eric, I got it from my AD a week ago, and I agree 100% with your review. I must ad that is also lighter and thinner than the 11-series. I don't have a scale to weigh it but when held in my hand It's defiantly lighter. Awesome review as alvays, Great video! Thanks.

Agree with you Eric we should just stick with Ceramic Kermit. Also agree with you the clasp on the modern sub are just too substantial even with Hulk due to 20mm glidelock adjustment. I personally like the glidelock concept but we (99.99%) don't need 20mm adjustment for daily use.

It looks cool, but i prefer the hulk. The new blue bezel white gold sub looks insane! Even though I own a blue seamaster, the blue on the sub is different enough for me to add another blue watch.

Even the actual lug might be the same width, but because they increase the bracelet to 21mm makes the lug looks slimmer/tapered slightly.

Eric, Chrono 24 is showing my Rolex Yachtmaster from ~2005 with the frosty platinum dial to have shot way up in value, from the $7000 to $9,000 range lately. I love the watch, it is like a submariner movement and DeLuxe, but slim-fitting like a Daytona. What gives? Are these watches really shooting up in value for some reason? Is this a hot model now? It's the Platinum stainless steel bracelet model.

You miss some points. HOUR HAND's triangle tip is slimmer at the old sub and it is thicker and shorter at the new version but not as thick as GMT. It sucks because when I want to replace the hands in the future I will be able to find only new version. Not many people will notice, but I will always notice that the tip of the hour hand is thicker and doesnt originally belong to that watch.
Just been to my local AD. If I had ordered this watch when this video came out (3 years ago), I'd still have another 5 years to wait. Their wait list for this model is over 800 customers long. I originally went in for an Explorer 2 black face and on being told it was a 4 year wait asked about the green bezel sub. Gave up and bought a green Tag Aquaracer 300 then and there. The shop even threw in a Wolf winder.

Hi, what do you think the future of the supercase date ceramic sub will be? I have been offered some low-ball offers for it, it is unworned and some dealers want to pay under retail for it... like $8500. ]I would appreciate your suggestion, I need some money but have other watches I could sell. They now might have fallen a little bit in value as many people have listed theirs and supply is bigger, also many wait for the new model. But I don't think you could ever sell it for much more over retail to a dealer anyway. But as long as the Rolex sports models remain difficult to obtain it will retain its value.

They're supposed to have ceramic tubes around the bracelet pins: like the Day-Date 40; or at least the precious metal versions do.
They're all hidden improvements:

Wider bracelet.
The 126618LB has a Royal Blue dial
The Smurf has a blue bezel.
I said they would increase the size of the watch because of the Yacht Master 42 and thought they'd increase it to that.
This isn't really an increase.
They needed a coloured dial for the 126619LB white Gold blue bezel Smurf replacement..
I'm sure Rolex have some more new releases held back, for the spring/ early summer, when last years' new show with Patek Philippe and Breitling would have begun In April after

I have a 6inch wrist size, and planning to get the new submariner “kermit” but worried about the size of the watch on my wrist, any suggestions ?
You have to try it on yourself. I got a similar sized wrist but even 2 wrists with the same circumference can be completely different. Don't let anyone talk you into anything. If it looks good to you then go with it. If you think it is too big for you then maybe don't get it. I seen 6" wrists wear some chunky watches pretty well

Love the video and the new Rolex models are cool, however, I've owned a lot of watches including many Rolex and I have a large wrist- 8.5", in my experience, I prefer 20mm bracelets at the lugs vs anything bigger. Too bad they made the braceler bigger IMHO.

Watch Eric found a brand new 2020 green dial hulk for 18,500 USD in the city of Taichung, Taiwan. I’m taking the high speed rail down Monday morning to pick it up. Is that a good price? Actually, I don’t really care. I like the Hulk and I was kicking myself for not getting it during the summer. Just gonna go for it. I don’t wanna wait another year and get it used.

I agree. The thicker bracelet and clasp were immediately a turn off to me.
It will take some time. To get used to.
I had the hulk and sold it in Feb and picked this baby up in March, I prefer this much more as I can wear it more often as a daily whereas the hulk I was only wearing with certain clothes.

The Sub changes are dancing on the head of a pin. It’s a nice $10k watch. Beyond that it’s just another Rolex Sub with a proper
32 series” movement. The GMT line when upgraded 2 years back was cleaner with more significant and improved changes with its super jubilee bracelet and 32 series movement. The new Sub is just last to the party that has been going on for the last 3 years.

It’s only wider by a little over 0.2mm on each side. The old sub was 40.80 and this new one is 41.25ish.
