8 watt Baofeng BF F8HP GMRS with UT-72G 19" antenna, we have a Patriot group with close to 150 people, not all have comm devices, but we test monthly in Melbourne FL area
@@theorlandoprepper well I said cow bell but I really mean a ships bell , I have one at my home , shop and parents had 1 , you ring it to summon the family
Hey, OP. Shelter, water, food and communications are my top 4 priorities (personal protection devices are a given). Of course I've got my Baofeng radios scattered amongst the family, love 'em. My CB's I've had for many years. 2 handheld, 1 vehicle mounted and a base station. All still work. For short distance or vehicles traveling together, they're good to have. Have a great day, OP and LP.
Thanks for the good points! I’ve been testing coms with a relative who lives a mile away with lots of houses and not flat terrain between us. Surprisingly, FRS radio works pretty well, even as we sit in our houses. And it does not require a license which is great. I also paid for a GMRS license and that’s better than FRS because certain frequencies allow 5Watts (on handhelds) Up to 50W on base stations or car installable models. I only have 5 Watt handhelds and we can hear each other on GMRS even if both of us are in our basements. I tried CB the same way without being able to connect. I think if we both stand outside, with me at the highest point of our property, we might be able to contact each other. I will try that next. But I love CB, and I’m working on a way to talk to my relative. All of these radios might be good to monitor if SHTF to see what other people are saying. In addition to shortwave and SSB.
I'm running a simple Cobra lte classic with one diod cut and a tube type palamar skipper driving a mini scout or the ten tube phantom and it works well for but you have to be careful
I've been playing with a anytone 6666 10m radio mars modded to work on 10m-12m it includes cb with adjusted hamstik dipole on a 23ft painters pole .on ssb (lower side band) I've talked all as far as central Canada on about 60 watts
Cb is set up for cars unless handheld ones so you would need a 12v battery unless there is another way if so maybe you could make a video on this if this applies
Thanks for the Information. CB is a good thing. I will be purchasing one. Stay Safe
Thank you, brother.
Thanks for watching

Good that you are trying different systems. Plus, you know the value of just listening. A lot of people overlook that. Thanks for watching.
Great stuff to know! Thank you!
Doesn't cost anything to listen.
The more versatile you are in radios, the more you learn.
Absolutely. Thanks for watching.
Great tip! I’ve been thinking of getting one for quite some time, need to stop dragging my feet and get it done!
Thanks for watching

Very cool. 10m is a great long distance band.

HAM RADIO WORKS.
