Wow. It has been atleast 40 years ago when i have used a CB radio. As a kid. Had a President Thomas back then. I thought CB was dead. But never thought i could be so wrong. This radio looks awesome and makes my interest in CB grow again.

@@Voltomess There's always activity on CB, get a good external antenna high as you can.
I know I live in Ireland but I hear regular activity on 11m every single day, lots of European stations, sometimes skip into North, Central and South America and always local activity, usually the same people but it's still working in 2025. I could use whatsapp but something special about radio and speaking to people just radio to radio with no form of infrastructure, it's great and best of all is you never know who you're going to talk to or where and what the conversation will be.

Nice job! I've been using the Washington since the first ones came out. It's rarely heated up enough to warrant a fan, but I did add one, and it works fine. If this radio was crammed into someone's dash, or used in a hot environment, a fan would most likely be a good purchase to make. Other than 2 fans looking cooler than one aesthetically, perhaps owners should try one fan first vs. buying a pair (due to the cost of a 2-fan kit)

Only a couple of personal issues, and a question.
I would like to see the ability to record multiple messages, just one recording may not be appropriate for all situations.
The Roger beeps, as usual, suck.
Maybe if the message recording can be tapped to the PTT off, and then, by a menu option, trigger the recorded message.
It is unfortunate that you will have to break that manufacturer’s seal to add fans. This is an issue that President should have seen coming and addressed, prior to public release!
    Question?
Is there a way to program freq and functions via me computer, using either proprietary software or third party software (ie: Chirp), similar to Anytone software?
Maybe if we could modify the RB to an anything else.
Thanks again for the great review and in depth analysis, and the additional function review references to previous videos.

But I keep my magnum S9 175 with me just because between the speech compression and the audio modulator they’re dressed an incredible sounding radio, loud and proud without over modulation and speech compression

It’s very similar looking but the controls are different, display is different, etc.. In manufacturing to create a radio you have to first create a tool that is used as the mold for a production. I've been a ham for 40+ years, a trucker for 10+ years, and a CBer since there were only 23 channels. (You do the math on that last one.) A few observations:
    - Automatic Relay is commonly known as a Simplex Repeater. (However, we all know that repeaters under automatic operation are illegal under the CB rules.) The use case for this is the same as regular repeaters; to allow two stations unable to hear each other directly to communicate. You WANT both TX and RX to be on the same frequency.
    - Message record/playback has been on high end ham rigs for decades, and is used exactly as you demonstrated, particularly for contests. On CB, it'll have "I ain't got no panties on" 99% of the time...
    - "Roger beep" has NO function on simplex communications, other than to annoy everyone else. Turn it off, please.
    - Echo simply makes it more difficult for others to understand what you're saying. Turn it off, too.
    - Power is highly overrated. It makes very little difference in DX; if the band is open, 5W is enough. If the band isn't open, 5000W won't do it. (I worked many countries in Europe from the US on 10W on 10m SSB during Cycle 23... from a school bus.) Power will make a difference on ground wave, but not as much as you'd expect. Yes, the "inverse square law" does apply, but there are obstructions, including the ground inside the Fresnel Zone. (Oh yeah, I'm an electrical engineer as well.) So, going across a long, flat, straight road like I-80 across the Great Salt Lake may net you a mine or two more, the problem is that the person replying to you is using a stock 5W CB, and you can't hear them. And in the pursuit of MOAR POWAH, people take their radios in for a "tune up". Legality aside, the problem is that a lot of these "service techs" got their "training" by watching a few YT videos, and they end up with a radio that shows as putting out twice the power, but the problem is that the power is now spread over 5 channels, and nobody can understand what they are saying.
I miss the days when drivers kept their CB signal as clean as the chrome on their rigs.

you sound like the typical ham with your really shitty attitude and so full of yourself crap. some people like the way echo sounds and enjoy using their radio without some jerk always criticizing others and bitching about something. it doesnt matter how much proper training and education a person may have what matters is how much common sense one has and its obvious no amount of schooling can give that to you. the amount of power does make a difference whether its skip or not and only a moron would argue with that. when you say something like oh yeah im an electrical engineer as well and you put down people claiming they got their training by watching you tube videos you deserve to be replied to in a negative manner and told what some people may think of you. which isnt very much and the world would be a much better place without people like you always putting others down and acting like you are better than everybody else. you dont know what you are talking about and you really should ask for your money back from whoever you got your degree from . have a nice day

Well said Jamie, spot on. I was on CB for years for fun, then I learned about ham and it sure does open up the mind and understanding of what is actually going on out there--and how so many things "required/desired on CB" aren't actually beneficial to radio communications. I've got nothing against CB'ers but for those with poor attitudes because some hams--just like some CB'ers, aren't easy to get along with. I've even met some hams who never operated on CB, and they're the most confused about what CB is and is not. I do find it a bit amusing that the CB radio makers are still, three decades later, making up "10-meter" rigs specifically for folks who don't understand that for a few-dollars-more, plus a little bitty ham ticket, they could enjoy a much much larger radio world. But so long as they'll buy 'em, they'll keep slappin' 'em together and calling 'em whatever sounds coolest this week. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Enjoy your radios, and learn more any chance you get. I've never met a ham who wouldn't help a person out who wanted to learn more about radio, I've helped many get started and will continue. Some of my best ham pals over the last 25 years have been (some still are) truck drivers-but I met them all on the ham bands. Several of my CB pals became hams when I did, and we still are hamming it up. It's just easier.

A few things to note though , The frequency readout should have been priority over the channel readout ..... A nice sized frequency display with a smaller channel readout should have been the way to go , The frequency readout is " Tiny " , Or at least the ability to choose the dominant display , Either frequency or channel .The fans should be a standard feature not an after thought , The vfo/channel knob should have been bigger , It looks like you need tweezers to turn it , Also with ICs being so cheap why only a few memories ? HF Ham radios have had at least 100 memories as standard since the mid 80's , And finally the price is way to high ......
