After putting the masons in your shed or garage, do you keep them there in the bag until about october and then harvest them?

    I have 7 plugged
holes for the leaf cutters, I still have flowers in the garden, have not seen any active bees. When should I take down, worried about wasps etc getting at the nest?

How do you know your Mason bees are done nesting? I have two bees still flying in and out of the nest, but not as frequently as they did in the past two weeks.

It sounds like they're about to wrap it up for the season. Let those last bees finish up and then you're ready for leafcutters!

Fantastic! I'm really looking forward to the leafcutters as I hope more of them will stick around than my Masons did. It makes a rather boring live streaming TH-cam channel.

Wouldn't it be advisable to protect the cocoons from birds or squirrels? Maybe by using 1" chicken wire over the entrance?

It is highly recommended. My beehive full of fresh nesting holes was destroyed in five minutes by a woodpecker . Next year I’ll cover with chicken wire. 🙁☹️
