    The highest toilets in Europe should be inside the Margherita Hut, on top of Signalkuppe (Punta Gnifetti), 4554m in Monte Rosa!

    A great film. I did the climb in 1987 going the final stage on my own as both my mates got mountain sickness, not often talked about, and could not go to the top. However without them I would not have made it. They taught me to climb railway bridges in Milton Keynes and then we did a training climb the day before the big one where I used crampons and ice axe for the first time. They were very encouraging and this gave me great confidence in my own abilities to meet the challenge. We went up the usual route staying at the the huts before coming down with one mate to the cable car. Going down was as bigger challenge with melting snow and ice and crevasses to cross. We realised we were near the cable car when we suddenly came across a naked young woman sunbathing on the rocks. I had been lucky because the weather had been ideal for the climb for the first time that season and it did not last long afterwards forcing my mates to try unsuccessfully to find better climbs in Switzerland before going home early.
    Following the climb I saw Stephen Roche win the Tour de France in the Alps, travelled on steam trains in the Ardeche and paid a fleeting visit to Paris and Versailles before catching the bus home to Milton Keynes. A great time in France indeed. In 1989 my new wife and I did the Tour of Mont Blanc - another great experience and highly recommended.

    Thanks for this nice video sharing your journey in this very scenic place. You show very well how mountainering / climbing to the top can be done with pleasure where every moment is beautiful. And without searching for arrtifical & dangerous performance goals increasing exposure to risk. You enjoyed and did respect the Montains and it give you gave all they can offer.

    Thank you so much! Your video is absolutely fantastic. Best video describing whole climb on TH-cam. Also your other video about necessary clothing and gear to climb superb. after watching both of those videos i am 99% confident to do the climb/hike on my own aswell. The only thing if i look at the weather forecast it is changing every day... I will be traveling from Ireland so it is kind of difficult decision for how long should i go(booking huts and plane tickets). Ideally for 3 days, but in case weather is not great when i am up at Gouter hut, i probably could stay for a night or 2 nights to wait for better weather. But in case i will be lucky and summit on the second day like you then i would have to just waste 2 nights. By the way your English is 👍
    Thanks again for such a informative videos about the climb.

      @velislavstoev  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thank you so much for your comment. It means a lot to me to hear the videos were helpful.
      You are right the weather forecast is changing every day and this is one of the things that unfortunutelly we cannot predict. I`m currently living in Chamonix area and even the one day forecasts are not accurate sometimes, what to say about longer period... It is always good to have at least one extra day. I wish you luck to do it on your first day and if so don`t count the extra days as wasted.
      Thanks again and good luck!

Grand Culoar was completely under snow. We slept behind ridge in tents and iglú. 2nd day we climbed top of Mt.Blanc and returned back to Chamonix. Hello, great video! A question: is it possible to ascend Mont Blanc just by hiking, meaning no real climbing, use of climbing harness?

    • @velislavstoev
      @velislavstoev  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! Yes it is possible to “hike” Mont Blanc via Gouter Route without a harness, rope and etc. The most technical part is between Tete Rousse and Gouter hut, where there is a fixed metal rope on the steepest rocks, but these parts definitely can be passed without a climbing equipment. Helmet is must though, mostly in case of falling rocks.
      I think it is good to have a lightweight harness and a few carabiners just in case of emergency.

I stayed there overnight and the next morning i hiked down to Nid d'aigle tramstation for around 2 hours. I was thinking to go all the way down to Les Houches after the summit, but i was very exausted and it would be a bad idea. I got lucky that they had a free bed for me at Tete Rousse that day, because i didn`t have a reservation.

      You doesn`t need to be a pro climber. There is no real climbing on the classic route ( the one I did). There is steep parts between the the huts (Tete Rousse and Gouter) but it is definetly not climbing. Of course you will feel more confident if you have done some glacier walking and / or a bit of begginer alpine course. This will makes you more confident.

      Cable car + train - around 50 euro round trip.
      One night in Tete Rousse hut - around 60/65 euro.
      Food in the huts: dinner - 30/35 euro, breakfast - 15/20 euro, water 1.5 litres - 7/8 euro, beer = 6/8 euros.
      A good option for saving money is to take a lot of food and water with you. Cheers.

      Thank you! I didn’t melt any snow. I took 4 bottles (1.5 litres) from the town when I started. One of it was with electrolytes. This was enough for the way up. I bought only one more bottle from Gouter hut on my way down. This was enough for me.

    I see that you had scarpa ribelle synthetic version. Your feet were comfortable? Not cold? I am deciding between ribelle and scarpa manta tech. Thank you

    • @velislavstoev
      @velislavstoev  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks for asking. My feet felt really comfortable, not cold at all. Ribelle light are one of the lightest winter shoes and for me is more useful even in low altitude mountain. Manta tech is for sure the warmer shoe but sometimes when it gets warm outside, your feet can be sweating which is not the best feeling. We are all different so i can only share my own experience. The socks are very important as well. I used icebreaker merino ski socks. Also it’s mandatory the winter shoe to be at least a half or one size bigger than your daily shoes. This makes a big difference up in the mountains!
