  • On October 2, 2024, a Delta Air Lines Airbus A330-300 (N819NW), operating flight DL161 from Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS) to Minneapolis-St Paul (MSP), encountered an issue shortly after takeoff. The crew reported a problem with the landing gear, which could not be retracted. As a result, the aircraft leveled off at 6,000 feet and requested delay vectors from ATC.
In this video, we recreate the entire flight scenario with live ATC communications, highlighting the crew's decision-making process. After assessing the situation, the pilots opted to return to Amsterdam. The aircraft landed safely and was met by emergency services on the runway for a thorough inspection. Once cleared, the A330 taxied to the gate, escorted by emergency vehicles as a precaution.
Tune in to see how this situation unfolded, complete with real-time ATC audio and flight path visuals. If you enjoy aviation content like this, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more!

All ATC calm and very polite, as was the DL pilot. Interestingly they didn’t ask once (nor 25 times) for fuel and number of souls on board (unless is was missed on this audio).

You are so right @jpmasters-aus. As a pilot I watch a lot of these, same stories with completely different approaches 😵‍💫 This is the difference between real professionals and self proclaimed top specialists

Excellent work by atc and pilot but the larger issue airbus has problems with their aircraft as well as Boeing but only two comments none of them where people are saying they are flying on airbus airplanes lets just be honest and fair and call out both plane makers

Like Boeing is doing such a good job , c'mon they all have flaws... it's got to do with the demand of aircraft. They need to glue them together in a fortnite i.s.o. a month, corners WILL be cut on both sides.
