In case anyone runs into this issue: If your volume and mic aren't working well even at high volume it's not broken. These radios are sealed so we'll to be waterproof, that with elevation changes you can have negative pressure inside the radio which pulls on the speaker cone making it not work. Just open either the charging and/or the headset flap and let the pressure equalize and close the flap(s). In extreme cases you'll actually hear the air rush like a pop can or opening a jar. So if your volume is ever really low at high volume, try that. Also, with their Y split charger many report only getting them to charge to 2 bars but many have reported that charging spearately fixes that or if you got the 605 pack with the case and the car charger and the extra cables, you can charge them with another charger of the same amperage spearately
@@donalderickson-si8ww I always recommend using AA or single cell rechargeable AA instead of the rechargeable pack they come with Mine are still working great!
Also to clarify about the low/high PPT button: Out of the 22 channels some are FRS and some are GMRS. Some are both (1-7) If on a FRS only channel, whether you press high or low, it will broadcast on low (8-14) On GMRS channels you can do with or (15-22) On shared channels you can do either or. Channels 1-7 are both FRS and GMRS and can be used at low (.375 watts) or high (1.3watts) on this radio. Channels 8-14 are FRS channels and can only work at low power (.375watts) on this radio. 15-22 are GMRS but after 2017 can be operated at either high or low.
ostoof news flash channels 1 through 22 are F R S channels with one power sorce which is half a watt new rules as of 2024 so that means 15 through 22 are G M R S channels and requier a licensee to use and the radio need's a P L tone to talk to the tower.
you are in the year of 2017 I am in the year of 2024 there are still 22 channels but here is the up dates med. power is gone F R S is a 1/2 a watt radio all 22 channels channels 15 through 22 are shaired as 1/2 a watt and 5 watts both becouse F R S is off channels for repeater channels 15 through 22 on G M R S radio ruling as of 2024 and I am licensed to use it as you are talking 20 miles for real.
Thanks for posting this. I loosened the first screw and assumed the battery cover slid out. I could not figure it out. Then I saw you slide the belt clip out and saw the second screw and I learned that’s why I was not coming down. Thanks again!
the company I work with there battery and radio are two parts battery and the clip belt clip is bolted into the battery pack clip is on bottom to release the two parts.

If by mute you mean that even at high volume the volume is still very low and/or muffled then you just need to open the flap for the charger and/or the headphones flap. About a day and they take 8hours to recharge I say just buy a large pack of batteries that's what I did. So far 2 days on full charge with cheapo amazon batteries.
Husband is all thumbs, need to get the right (cross point) screw driver for the job. Also the table needs a plain bright surface (bricks are too busy), so that everything is clear. Finally have one pair of hands doing one thing at a time while filming or lose clarity of the subject in hand (installing batts). Other than that this video is helpful, thank you.

that is normal these guys fly by the seat of there pants never read the book have no idea as to how the radio works what the button'd and how thay do it I looked at all these radios there sold in big box stores NO one can answer to anything SO went to RUGGED RADIO company they sell everything in one store that you would need not from amazion store and I lost the tower in put tone on my radio thay walked me through it as thay built it yes a h t's go for $ 150 each mobile unit go's for $ 250.00 thay did not put in those silly securty codes so my FRS side is clean
and to be honest I would not wate 7 years to do this and not answer the replies I Owen real radios made for the outdoors used by people with off road side by sides carts

My kids and I love these radios they run around the neighborhood with them and I haven lost connectivity yet
the radio is like a leash and collar with mom at mission control running the opp.

once you are licensed by the F C C call the company and see if thay can help.
for G M R S you do need a licensee for them $ 35.00 dollars and
one family in one house for 10 years.
