TF2 veteran here, I'll try to explain everything as it shows up in the video. 0:43 This is a joke about a sniper standing in front of an entrance to get a quick headshot as a sneak attack. Doesn't always work, but it's funny if it works or not. 0:54 This is a collection of references in one. The most obvious is the spycrab, which is what you do as a spy by having your disguise kit out and looking up. This joke has gotten so popular that it's become implemented into the game, if you taunt with the disguise kit there's a chance he'll pose as a crab. There's even a cosmetic that references this joke by putting a plushie crab on the Spy's shoulder. The pet on shoulder thing gets referenced here at 5:35, and you can choose to have the bird totally clean or covered in blood too. Another joke involved in this is The Pirate Spy, which is a dumb joke Jerma985 made back in the day, which is why one of them is in a pirate hat. And there's the concept of friendlies, some servers can be peaceful chatrooms where people just goof off instead of shoot each other, and it sometimes looks like this, but in this video, it's a fake out. There's even an infamous "subclass" called a "Hoovy" who just crouches with his fists out and gives people sandwiches. There's also a spy wearing the Ghastly Gibus and the Pyrovision Goggles that's supposed to communicate that this is a beginner player to TF2, which is another signal for harmlessness. 2:34 This is a reference to Mann VS Machine, the Spy in that game mode can stun robots with his sapper, you can even upgrade it to stun multiple robots at once, and at least slow down the big robots. And his ability to easily trick the robots is also a reference to that game mode too. 3:07 This is a reference to people spamming Engineer in areas to defend (which makes it odd here, because he's on the offensive team, but whatever). This behavior is very common in the intelligence room on 2fort. This also illustrates the problem with doing that, which is AoE attacks can destroy all the buildings in the same area, which is why it's a beginner's mistake. It's best to have all your buildings spread out a bit to avoid this. 3:30 This is the Pyro's Air Blast, it can push people around. it can do more, but I'll save that for later. 3:49 I think this could be a reference to the specific flamethrower the Pyro is using called the Back Burner, which does critical hits (3x the damage) to an opponent's back. 4:01 This is referring to the Hybrid Knight play style. The Demoman can be the original Reinhardt by trading out his usual weapons for shoes that give him several buffs like speed and health, a variety of shields that can allow him defensive buffs and a charging attack, and instead of a normal melee weapon he can use one of many swords with double the melee range and unique side effects. This Demoman is using a fairly defensive sword and shield combo, but he didn't use the shoes and instead kept the Grenade Launcher, a risky trade for more versatility. 4:16 I know the usual player limit in Overwatch is 6v6, but in the TF2 the usual limit is 12v12, and that's not even a hard rule, the servers just allow a 24 player maximum. So if the Overwatch team is sticking to just 6 players as normal, the TF2 team might just be as big as 18. Keep in mind that this has only gotten more ridiculous, as of very recently, TF2 got an upgrade last year that allows for a maximum of 100 players on a server. 4:27 The Witcher hair is here because there was a promotional tie-in cosmetic and weapon for the Scout. I don't remember what the hair is called, but I know the sword he's wielding is called the Three Rune Blade, it's just a re-skin of another weapon called the Boston Basher though. TF2 has done this many times with other games. Like earlier in the video at 1:35 the Sniper shot Mercy with the Machina, a promotional weapon that was a tie-in to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. It's not only known for its black sci-fi design, but also its unique sound and tracer rounds. 7:52 This is a joke about similarities in gameplay, because like Roadhog, the Heavy has a massive health pool, and he can fully recover it by eating a Sandvich, however that can only be equipped by trading out his shotgun. 9:48 This is a very accurate representation of the Ghastly Gibus, because you get it by defeating another player who has the Gibus. Because it's the easiest hat to get, it's associated with beginner players. The Pyrovision Goggles work the same way. 10:18 This is a reference to The End of the Line animation, but it's also a gameplay reference. While Ubercharged players are invincible, they aren't immovable. A Pyro can use their Air Blast to move an Ubered player out of the way. But this is also slightly inaccurate, the Heavy has a passive trait of Knockback Resistance, which means he can be moved, but not easily. Funny enough an Ubered Medic is completely immovable, so that strategy could have worked if it was just the Medic standing there. 11:00 There's a timer ticking down on most game modes and if the attacking team doesn't reach their goal in time they lose, so this is a very accurate loss, with the missing fanfare, Crits on winners, and cowering losers. 11:25 Dell is actually the Engineer's real name. Most of the TF2 cast have names, the Engineer's real name is Dell Conagher. 12:35 Usually during Attacking and Defending type of games the Defensive side is outside preparing while the Attacking side waits inside for a few minutes. They can usually see each other through the door that won't open until the timer's up. During that time, it's common for opposing players to taunt each other from at the door while they wait. 14:06 This is another function of the Pyro's Air Blast, it can reflect projectiles. It even makes projectiles hit harder with Mini-Crits (1.3x damage). 14:10 This actually references a fan made game mode called Rocket Tennis where two Pyros Air Blast a homing Critical Hit rocket that will instantly kill either player if they don't react in time, giving the other player a point. 14:32 This is an example of the Soldier using the Market Gardener, a shovel that can deal a Critical Hit while rocket jumping, which is enough damage to instantly kill 7 out of 9 classes at full health. 14:39 Piss jokes are very common for the Sniper, because he has piss based weapons. Like he even has a rifle that fires tranquilizer darts that explodes into a yellow mist on contact. 15:40 He just used his most commonly used piss-based weapon, the Jarate (a mason jar full of piss). It can soak anyone in a radius of piss which will have victims suffer from Mini Crits from everything until it dries off. It also puts out burning players and reveals hidden Spies. And yes, a good chunk of Ana from Overwatch was inspired by Sniper's piss weapons. 17:24 This is a joke about the Brass Beast, the yellow gun Heavy is using right now. This gun does the most damage in the game, but it comes at the cost of making the Heavy even slower than he already is. This slowness is often over exaggerated for jokes. 18:48 This is referring to a weapon the Spy can use called the Spy-cicle, it freezes opponents when it backstabs them, but it's main function is to become fire resistant, but it melts when hit by fire, therefore you don't have a knife until it recharges (refreezes?). 21:08 This is Saxton Hale, think Australian All Might (there's even a fan animation of that). He owns Mann Co. Considering he can make a yeti explode by punching it hard enough, Winston got off easy. There was a game mode that came out recently where it's just him versus all the other mercenaries, originally a fan made game, but made official now. And if you look carefully, his chest hair is shaped like the Australian continent. 23:17 This joke is kind of weird, because the usual joke at the time was that Zarya is Heavy's daughter, but that's a fannon not cannon obviously. 23:34 This is also Demoman's real name here. His name is Tavish Degroot.

That torbjorn play of the game was my favorite thing because it made my freind super angry. Ulting from spawn to snatch play of the game at the last minute. Sadly, those days are gone.
TL;DR- I got caught up reminiscing/ruminating over how good Overwatch used to be compared to how it is. I got way too caught up in it, but I spent too much time writing it to just delete it, so here's my mad rambling. Launch Overwatch was so peak. The design philosophy was "if it's not fun, cut it, guaranteeing that every element was fun. Beta Bastion with the shield in turret mode? Fun for Bastion, not for literally anyone else, so cut. Even the loot boxes were fun, even if that was clearly a demand from Activision. But it was fine, since everything in the loot boxes were available through play. But slowly and surely, things started to change. First it was exclusive event skins, but ok, those make sense, why should you get the Christmas skins when it isn't Christmas? Then they started OWL. Suddenly, all balance changes are geared towards spectacle instead of fun. More and more, they built the game to favor a small percentage of players. Certainly, balance should be fair and encourage working as a team, but it went so overboard in the OWL push, it lost its identity. Instead of seeing that the enemy team has a Widow, so you could switch to someone who can quickly flank her and help your team, no, Tank is Tank! At this point, I just switched to playing the arcade mode that made you switch to random characters when you died, because at least that kept it from being stale a bit longer. It was always unsustainable. With OW2's promise of a campaign mode, it seemed like there was hope again. Instead, it became a free to play mess full of players who have no investment and drop as soon as the tide doesn't dramatically favor them. Just to add insult to injury, the one thing that was supposed to set 2 apart and make it worth all the hype, was dismissed like a fart in the wind.
I fully agree. While I did not participate in beta nor played the game at release I still started pretty early. I loved all the animations made, events created and skin designs. OW2 is lacking almost all of those things. No feeling of fullfilment of any type, paywall on every step and characters and designs that I just do not like. Sad to see it go that way and all the hope being estinguished.
@@Torineesan Oh, man Beta Bastion was a different beast entirely. He WAS the meta. Having a shield that protected everything from the side of the barrel up and having just a little bit less health than Reinhart's shield. Still had the self repair ability too. Everything about him was oppressive. The only, and I mean only, counterplay was to get behind him and melee, which was an instant kill. Most easily done with Tracer or Reaper. Even then, you just had to hope he was too distracted to know you were coming. If there was a Bastion in the game, he had PotG every time, and the only time there wasn't was when the teams agreed not to use him because other people wanted to have fun too.

@@Torineesan Yeah......but it hilarious still. Already there`s full another level, different map, different action and those guys still trying to shoot each other. A hilariously true sniper duel!XD
@@venom_spy_chaosgod I know... I used to play Widow and I feel called out I used to play the Widow HS only games between matches
@@Torineesan I got the feeling, that, this is true for every multiplayer shooter, that such duels are look like that everywhere.
@@venom_spy_chaosgod Tale as old as time...
Sniper is an Australian. Saxon Hale is THE Australian.
Yep ^^
For more details please consider watching Fawful's Minions TF2 videos. This includes his old top 9 favorite classes, old top 9 favorite weapons, old top 9 least favorite weapons, updated versions of these videos, and his video essay on the game itself.
Thank you for the recommendations ^^
@@Torineesan Anytime.
Why does it start with the second episode, doesn´t make sense
I like to be unpredictable
Why you started in the part 2?
I just opened wrong link first. >.> Glad it didn't matter much ^^
@@Torineesan at least is not as bad as the people who start in the part 3 of the incorrect summary of Elden Ring made by Max0r (seriously, some idiots don't readed right the numbers and ended more confused then most people because of that).
Yeah, people watch the most popular one and then ignore the rest sometimes ^^"
More like part 2 & 1
Well, seems you watched TENET recently or something
Actually I was just recommended to watch the Meet the Team videos, and then this one ^^
@@Torineesan You should watch expiration date next, if you haven't already.
Edit: Are you planning on watching any TF2 youtubers? If you are I highly recommend Uncle Dane, SoundSmith, and especially Lazypurple
@@jesschen5513 I'm starting to dive into more & more TF2 stuff so I will check them out ^^
I have same feelings about overwatch it was actually good game before ow2 release. It became yet another cashgrab game without heart
I miss Overwatch all the time but OW2 is not it man. I wish there was a way to play the old version. The current one does not spark joy. I prefer The First Descandant now even though it is not PvP.
Guys, how do you think, she is ready for Emesis Blue?
Am I not? Why? it looked spooky, so I want to leave it as a Halloween special
@@Torineesan Well, i hope that you know lore of mercs, the two brothers, Jules Archibald and the respawn machine, so that you can understand the events taking place in the film.
@@thndchannel5103 I will have to do some homework
Nice I hope u watch more TF2 from The Winglet XD
My list of requests is growing by the minute but maybe
Wow, no likes, no comments...
I'm truly the first)
Edit: I actually have never been the first in the comment section or the first like on the vid, so I can die peacefully)
🏅Indeed ^^
btw if this was lore actuate, scout sniper and spy would dominate and the others will get destroyed.
scout because mad milk is good against robots (and 100 dmg meat shot)
sniper because jarate is good against robots (also mini crits)
spy because sapper (and instant kill backstab)
you can probably also count pyro for the gas passer because gas passer chains kills
Yeah but it was for the memes ^^ also OW has more heros than TF2 so maybe that could balance it out?
@Torineesan yeah but classes are stackable (u can have 12 spies)
Touché
That torbjorn play of the game was my favorite thing because it made my freind super angry. Ulting from spawn to snatch play of the game at the last minute. Sadly, those days are gone.
The good old days of OW are a fond memories. I hold a tiny bit of hope that one day they will come back.
@@Torineesan i have played since before it became ow2. Hopefully it gets better for those still interested.
New vtuber acquired
i was a Baptiste main in overwatch before i stopped playing
I was playing almost as every support, but somehow Baptiste's weapon just didn't feel right for me I preferred Zen, Mercy and Ana personally
Why did you start with episode 2?
Because everyone starts with episode 1 (I opened the second video first on stream )
Tf2 12v12 or ow 5v5. Which do you prefer?
I prefer the original 6v6 Overwatch matches, I wish they would relaunch the "Classic Overwatch" as a separate game
@@Torineesan 6v6 is best balance, 12v12 is having fun. Also i agreed with you.
21:24 that is saxton hale
Wait till you watch tf2 secrets part 1 and 2 it was sick and funny
Well now it has been added to my list ^^
Orisa main here as well Ana and Hanzo.
Sniper is a Kiwi not an Aussie
Yep, and I plan to learn about the details from the comics too
4:05 not fair at Demoman? well... he have "Grenade laucher" and its hes class for it, so its fair for use it.
Orissa have best ass in overwatch 🗿
Emesis blue NEXT
It's on the list, soon ^^ it was requested by a lot of people
@@Torineesanhonestly, not that really surprised
@@MrVoxov it's not a short video so I might keep it for a Halloween Special
@@Torineesan yeah I get that. Still have a good time with TF2. It personally saved me mentally during the pandemic back in 2020 (damn I said back in…)

I opened the 2nd episode's link accidentally and I didn't notice
Bruh i have no idea that you're a ex overwatch player
