90% of the abilities in Overwatch were taken from League or Dota and just made into a first person perspective. BELIEVE ME, Overwatch is overhyped in their "Defining a genre" status. All they did was show other companies that you can make a Moba/Class shooter style game as an FPS or TPS.

i remember when i was writing this video they were sending out google surveys asking people what they thought about having characters behind paywalls and stuff so that's why i put it in. They said at gamescom they wouldn't, but again I don't know whether that will change in the future for their game. Overwatch were happy to add characters for free for a while, until they involved in the battlepass into the game. That's why i mention the sceptisim in the video
I love rivals. I played the beta and it's so funny to me how they did almost nothing new, yet the gameplay feels better. There's more individual expression because of how hero kits are designed and I think that's what separates it from overwatch. In many situations in OW where you'd need to counterswap, you can just change your playstyle in rivals. I mained magik during the beta and even though she's the close ranged brawler/dive character, she has a long ranged projectile that can deal fat damage, though it's on a cooldown. I like stuff like that because I'm not helpless when fighting in a situation that extends beyond my character's niche.
brother the editing is great and all but at times I genuinely felt as if my brain was boiling from the amount of it in some segments, great video, but i'd suggest maybe bringing it down a little for future vids idk
it might be just because we grew up with video games and got good at them that we just forgot how to have fun with games we love, it's always that first impression like you said nobody knew what they where doing and that's what made it fun, trying to understand the new controls and seeing what's there to explore.
I don't think overwatch devs cared back than either, not about what was important anyway, Jeff stated one time that he wanted to make a complex game and make it easier over time. But if you do this than you're changing your balance philosophy and dumbing your game down since the newer heros are all easier stronger heros that not only outdate the old heros but are less fun than the older heros and than they needed to buff the older heros less flexible kits which resulted in heros like zen and ana needing to giga buff their anti nade and discord to a point where they're only playable for those abilities. In short, they screwed up their hero design philosophy, and their skill curve along with it, how do you put a hero into a game like moira who is entirely comprised of auto aim with a cheesy escape that makes her feel fully automated or a hero with invis, and auto aim cc than question why people are mad? And than to put those heros inna game with heros like doomfist or genji, who rely so heavily on mobility and deflecting as they're more melee based, only to have heros with fully automated kits that automated go through your deflect abilities... You compared wanda to moira but the big difference is wanda has an actual aimed projectile to go along with her auto aim rather than more auto aim like moira and instead of an easy bail put ability like fade, wanda has 2 charges for a slower fade like ability that encourages more strategic positioning. And if you go through all the marvel rivals heros you'll see similar themes where it feels like every hero has some form of skill expression, some are easier and some are harder at their skill floors but every hero has a skill ceiling that can be achieved so every hero is allowed to be strong, and that's very important as a foundation because as long as you can shift the power around inna heros you can likley balance them but the issue with moira and sombra is all their abilities suck... what do you shift and where? It's always gonna suck because every aspect of these heros suck and I mean sadly half the dam cast of ow is now like this... I mean remember when torb actually interacted with his turret by collecting scrap? Yea auqa dude in marvel rivals has turrets that he interacts with but torb just tosses it down now and forgets it exists while he goes and spams a choke mindlessly or duals a tank solo 😂

The memories of Overwatch. I perfectly remember the shitstorm Tracer's ass on the cover caused with the lightweights before they covered it up (says a lot about Blizzard when that's the only time they care what people think about them) and how much fun people had with this game.

Loot boxes were good, I played it every day and got my dailies and always had enough to by the skins I wanted. Now in Overwatch 2 I see a cool skin and check it and it's like £16, ridiculous.

I think the thing is that no one is exactly a 1:1 copy. But when there is so many similarities across the board its pretty obvious they did copy overwatch. Venom has a shield just like wrecking ball, can swing just like wrecking ball. flinging people in the air the same way.

Some of them definitely are copy’s but the one’s that aren’t don’t deserve those accusations.
I feel like Rivals is effectively a remix of Overwatch with it being a lot of the same pieces but rearranged to be more fresh. Recently Hawkeye is a good example with being pieces of both Genji and Hanzo fused together with a unique ult slapped on.

Gotta love it when i post in any other content creator description that the game was better before it went free and we actually were able to get skins with loot boxes. Most call me a gambling advertiser and say that 40 dollar bundles for skins subpar to ow1 events is fair. The irony of it all is that where i live these same bundles cost 1/4 of the minimum monthly salary. Got a inventory full of skins by just grinding for free boxes, in ow 2 all i got are some bad free epic skins from the pass, and the ocasional "we messed up" reward from blizzard.
I'm gonna be honest, I have high hopes for Marvel Rivals. Maybe its because I want what the original Overwatch gave me or because I'm just a fan of the IP (like, I actually keep up with the comics not just the films). Hopefully, they can see how Overwatch 2 is flopping hard and how other games made by smaller companies but with good business practices like Deep Rock Galactic are doing well and put that same line of thinking forward.
marvel rivals will at least not fulfill the "smaller studio doing a better game" point at least, they are one of the biggest gaming companies in the world. even twice as big as Blizzard, if we just look at revenue

Im an old head. I was in my teens when tf2 came out and ill say overwatch never felt like it. But thats because overwatch never had 20 vs 20 matches. The comparison is just so fundamentally wrong for that reason alone. I played sniper in that and i was damn good. Ive never played sniper in any other game because theres not enough game to it. When you have a constant stream of 20 dudes running into the open with every other one pre shooting or trying to counter snipe you, now you have a fucking game. You might be 50 feet from the payload but you're still in the shit.
They already confirmed that all heroes will be free, and there will not be anytype of paywall nor grind for characters nor gameplay oriented unlocks (P2W) so... Thats already better than Blizzard locking heores behind a paywall for the first seasons.

@@ltcobra. yeah I understand that Rivals definitely took some inspiration with some of the characters, but people talk about it like literally every character in the game is a copy of somebody in overwatch based off of 1 simular thing in the characters kit. Some of them definitely are copy’s but the one’s that aren’t don’t deserve those accusations.
I feel like Rivals is effectively a remix of Overwatch with it being a lot of the same pieces but rearranged to be more fresh. Recently Hawkeye is a good example with being pieces of both Genji and Hanzo fused together with a unique ult slapped on.

Gotta love it when i post in any other content creator description that the game was better before it went free and we actually were able to get skins with loot boxes. Most call me a gambling advertiser and say that 40 dollar bundles for skins subpar to ow1 events is fair. The irony of it all is that where i live these same bundles cost 1/4 of the minimum monthly salary. Got a inventory full of skins by just grinding for free boxes, in ow 2 all i got are some bad free epic skins from the pass, and the ocasional "we messed up" reward from blizzard.
@@Perdidu 100% loot box grind was way more rewarding as fun. Also meant that you and your friends usually all had a different array of skins
I'm gonna be honest, I have high hopes for Marvel Rivals. Maybe its because I want what the original Overwatch gave me or because I'm just a fan of the IP (like, I actually keep up with the comics not just the films). Hopefully, they can see how Overwatch 2 is flopping hard and how other games made by smaller companies but with good business practices like Deep Rock Galactic are doing well and put that same line of thinking forward.
marvel rivals will at least not fulfill the "smaller studio doing a better game" point at least, they are one of the biggest gaming companies in the world. even twice as big as Blizzard, if we just look at revenue
@@brynion2117 Honestly, as long as there are no bs season passes and that all of the cosmetics can be achievable through in game means with the possibility of unlocking such things faster by opening your wallet then, I'll take that at the least.
I don't believe people should pay for battle passes or for unlocking characters.

I think it's funny how people still praise Jeff, the dude allowed Brigitte to be a thing, plenty of awful design decisions, etc.. Overwatch didn't died because of corporate greed, the own devs destroyed the game. If they were "passionate" about it or not, who knows, but Brigitte was a literal war crime, it's a eternal cycle of terrible balancing since day 1. The extreme greed was just the cherry on the top

But as open information goes, they erased the "overwatch league" from existence because it was bleeding money, they fired the PvE team because the missions failed to sell, there's 40k people playing the game on Steam right now, 20k watching on Twitch, etc.. do you really believe this game has "millions" of players?

Idk how to feel about paid characters tbh. Any poor kid over the age of 18 knows how hard it was to get anything from live service games like new characters. Ow 2 is honestly extremely gracious in that regard so I never understood the hate. They gotta make money somehow. I don’t even wanna corporate boot lick but tbh I’ve never had to pay for any multiplayer game in the past like two years. I think we sometimes as consumers can be a little too greedy too.

Im an old head. I was in my teens when tf2 came out and ill say overwatch never felt like it. But thats because overwatch never had 20 vs 20 matches. The comparison is just so fundamentally wrong for that reason alone. I played sniper in that and i was damn good. Ive never played sniper in any other game because theres not enough game to it. When you have a constant stream of 20 dudes running into the open with every other one pre shooting or trying to counter snipe you, now you have a fucking game. You might be 50 feet from the payload but you're still in the shit.
