2016-2022 Chevrolet Colorado 2.8L Duramax Fuel Filter/ Water Separator Replacement

Some people may change their filters differently. This is how I do it. The vehicle was in park with the parking brake applied during the procedure. If I recover the diesel the next time i do this, I will strain it before adding it back to the tank.

Thank you for the video, so handful, the reason why us owners of diesel engines have to take care that is because the injection pump push the fuel with a glass pressure and any dust of particles if go through the old filter into the system can be big issues on pump replacement, thanks everyone who gets blessed to have that baby bull on the hood 2.8 duramax turbo diesel

From what I understand is that the yellow tab is the fuel/water separator. I have the zr2 bison model and I have to take skid plats off to access the fuel filters. Great video by the way!

Thanx I'm just making a playlist of my experience with this truck in particular the diesel engine option. I've driven it Out West a couple times and gotten really good mileage. It's gotten itself unstuck a few times and seems to handle bad weather as well. There's a few things about it I don't like but not enough to outweigh all things I like about it.

I thought the same water separator ... But he mentioned release pressure so what is it? Do you really have to opened in order to change the filters. Thanks so much for the video!!!

It's easy to do. Same socket as you use to change the oil filter.

If you cycle the key a few times and allow the pump to fully prime the lines you wont get as much whining from the fuel pump...

Torque to 20 Nm / 14.7 ft-lb
I noticed in the fuel that drained out of my truck that there was a small amount of what looked like brass shavings (more like brass dust) at the bottom of the drain pan. Everything on the truck seems fine. I wonder if it was from the fuel station…

Drain plug will break off and is not available . The housing will corrode and that is a bear to replace and cost big.

Do you really need to loose the drain plug in order to replace the filters?
