Used this video as a guide to replace the hurricane hinge on my galley. Great instruction. I’ll go on record saying I DID NOT attempt to replace the door by myself 😂. Son helped!
I understand having to remove the stop screws but what stops the the reinstalled hatch door from shifting from side to side and possibly binding when closing?
In a year and half we have not had any issues with the lid sliding side to side. I believe the surface friction of the hinge combined with the pressure of the struts against it help keep it in position.
I may have missed it, but what year is your trailer? I'm about to do this, too. I need to know more about that math you were talking about in attaching the new lower hinge. Didn't quite follow. Can someone explain that a little better before I pull all this off? :)
Also, I have an issue with the upper hinge as the heads of the screws going into the frame have broken and is leaking on one side. I need to re-attach. I figured I'd just do all this at the time time.
We have a 2022 HD. As far as the math goes I have started extending the lower hinge section off the edge of the door to get the drip as far outboard as possible. I have also discovered and issue with how Braxton Creek elattached the upper section of hinge to the camper. I have had to fix several and helped others remotely fix theirs with the same issue. I will be putting out a video detailing the upper hinge issue shortly so you might want to wait on that before doing the lower section so you just have to remove the door once. It's not hard to do, just needs to be done.
@RP4TV , I just saw this. That is what I will cover in the new video. That is a problem a lot of people are going to be facing as these campers age for one simple reason. I will explain it in the new video.
@@adventuresofthememorymakers thanks for the response. Mine's also a '22. I'm not sure I can wait just because I have a trip planned soon, but I spoke with the guy who helped the manufacturing line and he gave me some ideas. When do you think the vid is coming roughly? I wish I could ask you directly off of here, but I hope to figure it out and do it all at once. Other than these issues I've largely had good luck with the camper.

Nice fix. You should send that video straight to their office so they can fix this issue at the factory.
Thank you. I doubt it would make any difference but would be nice if they would do it right.
Nice Sam thanks for sharing the process on video. Have something to refer to now if I ever decide to tackle it correctly!
Super helpful! Thank you
Nice job!
thank you

@RP4TV drop Us an email at adventuresofthememorymakers@gmail.com we can get in touch from there.
Sam, what product did you use to paint the new hinge? I’ve got some semi-gloss Rustoleum I’ve considered using.
I used a satin black spray paint and it matched very well.
