    Would you like me to do an entire video series for the DIY teardrop trailer builder? I'll share exactly how we've made our trailers at Overland Trailer since 2007. Drop your comment, thoughts, and feedback!

      @@juanpinto5743 I'm seriously toying with the idea. What style of teardrop most interests you? (Vintage, off road, etc)

      @@OverlandTrailer I would love to make a vintage teardrop, with mild off road capability. I'll probably end up with a squaredrop to save time and headaches. I'm looking into viable bunk bed options to fit 2 adults and 2 children. Most teardrops can fit 2 adults, but not 2 children.

      @@juanpinto5743 Dude! That's very similar to my first teardrop trailer build. Mine did have a round profile and not a square profile. I feel the round profile has less headaches especially if you're scanning it with metal. Hopefully you can find something helpful in my very first build, Check it out right here:. www.overlandtrailer.com/learn-about-teardrop-trailers/free-teardrop-trailer-plans/

      @@OverlandTrailer I got to your YT channel after going over your first build. The folding bunk bed is what drew my attention. Very cool. Lots more research to do before taking the plunge into building.

    Great idea on the overhang. That is something ours could benefit from.

      It is a good way to keep the water way off.

    My husband and I have been trying to figure out how water is getting into the kitchen area of our new trailer even when the hatch is closed. This explains it perfectly. The hinge was cut to fit just inside the edge of the pretty trim instead of all the way to the end so the water is draining into the seal instead of to the side. Now, how to fix it without completely tearing it apart? That's going to take some thought.

    • @OverlandTrailer
      @OverlandTrailer  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm glad this video helped. Fixing that could be interesting. Perhaps a drip rail above the hinge on the body? That could get most of it when the trailer is traveling. You'll likely still have some seeping in when parked unless you can figure out a way to seal that gap. Of course, replacing it is not ideal but would be 100% solid once done. We stock these hinges in our shop: overlandtrailer.com

    Would you recommend these on square drop applications too?

    • @OverlandTrailer
      @OverlandTrailer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jonathan! Yes, there are loads of square drops out there with this hinge on it. The key is to mount it so that both halves of the hinge are on the same plane when the galley hatch is closed. Works great!

  • @airlandsea
    @airlandsea 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Getting close to putting one of these on my build and just wondering if there is anything that keeps the two halves of the hinge "in place". Meaning, could you actually slide the hatch half out of the trailer half or is there something that holds them "together"?

    • @OverlandTrailer
      @OverlandTrailer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question. There is nothing on the ends that keeps them from sliding. However, with the weight of the galley hatch, gas struts , they usually don't move much. With that said, we've also kept the Body side a tad longer than the hatch side and then just dropped a sheet metal screw in there too.
