We had a 19 year old nephew who developed a lump in his neck. He was not overly concerned but finally saw the doctor anyway. Xrays done and other tests.as well. Well they just sat back and waited for the doctors to call back. This usually happens but somehow it got missed. So finally 19 year old decides to call the doctor, the lump was growing and becoming a nuisance. You got it. It was too late, they tried this and that but he died within a year.!! 19 years old!! Both wr wrong, they should have been on he blower looking for results, not just sit and wait!! The doctors office got too busy and overlooked it. But we need to take responsibility for ourselves. It is our body we know it best.Be assertive, in a nice way. Doctors have 1000 patients or more. They cannot keep track of it all. Take responsibility and follow through.

My husbands story exactly … he was a bit older, but playing tennis and doing the rowing machine .. he was surgeon and fugitive from his own healthcare needs .. it was orthopedics who kept giving him shoulder injections to no avail.. finally I said don’t come home without an MRI …he almost did but curiosity made him do it … he had a fractured shoulder blade from metastatic lung cancer .. if only it had been caught 10 weeks sooner … .. I love him dearly and missing him is a constant ache … don’t be passive follow you instincts, speak up !

May he rest in peace. ❤ Going through this now.. My shoulder pain is excruciating, so bad that I can't sleep at night. I've developed a clavicular swelling above my left collarbone on the same side as my excruciating shoulder and arm pain that spreads down my arm to my fingers. I've developed a cough , and breathing in is excruciating. I've already just had sn endoscopy and found that I have several ulcers in my stomach with inflammation. Waiting on the biopsy results of the ulcers and my stomach. I'm definitely pushing for an MRI , etc and definitely a biopsy of my superclaviicular lymphnode at my gp appointment in a few weeks.I can't stand the pain anymore. Wait a minute ! Nick had a CT-Scan and the radiologist did not pick up on the.lung cancer ? Nick should have gone to the ER when the shoulder pain got so bad he was in tears . No one is too young or because they didn't smoke to have lung cancer . If you have lungs , you can have have lung cancer . It's a shame that Nick was not taken serious earlier . Physicians are supposed to suspect the worse until proven otherwise, when patients come to them with acute symptoms that are new and unlike what the patient has experienced before . They should write the patient off with something minor or with a psychological problem. Simply unbelievable.
