For people complaining qbojt windows 7 not being in rufus. Just download windows 7 iso and then go back to rufus. Insted of download click on selection and add the windows 7 iso.. simple as that! Good luck

Those who downloaded the archived win7 version via link in the disrcription, have to select it manually in rufus, then it works. Good tutorial.
Edit: But in my case I ran into a few issues. An "ERROR: BIOS/LEGACY BOOT OF UEFI-ONLY MEDIA" screen appeared telling me that the boot can't run in BIOS/Legacy, only UEFI.
So I changed some settings in rufus when making a new drive. The changed settings are (1) Partition scheme: MBR and (2) Target System: BIOS (UEFI-CSM). The boot stick gets recognized now but its caught in a boot loop so I'm trying to figure it out now.

Get out the ram and put it back then the boot loop should stop.
I got this to work. I downloaded the ISO from the description and formatted the flash drive to NTFS file system (same as default on rufus)
Now up to Rufus v4.4.2103 with a few more features but you can easy work it all out from this video.

what i think happened, is that microsoft removed the access of downloading windows 7 iso from their website. and i also assume that rufus takes the windows isos straight from microsoft

Rufus has stopped supporting windows 7 but if you can still find the image screening file of the version you can still use the select option to use that file with no need for downloading
Im still not sure of any place the file can still functionally be found since even the new links in the description have broken(or at least they are for me) but i had the file from previous attempts at this and tested it and it is still possible, just a bit more tedious
I just today found a version by searching for "windows 7 SP1 ISO" and found a reddit post that took me to the web archive website. It's currently downloading, albeit very slowly.
@@SolarMillUSA well the file is not too hard to find, I have both SP1 and 2 but neither are supported by Rufus, the functionality for it used to be there but the developers of the program removed it, I found their post about it
just to point a few things out, if you say "no" to the update" it will not even give you the ability to automatically chase down the .iso.
so you have to go into the settngs and turn on updates, and then it will give you the ability to download the iso
also, the win7 iso is no longer an option, you are on your own for this one now
also, most win7 devices were not eufi, so select mbr
also "bios" will be selected for you if you selected bmr on the previous choice
bnous sweetness i cant figure out, i think rufus screwed up my flash drive as now i cant even format it, good times. grabbed another flash drive and it appears to be working

A couple of alternate options to cleaning out your flash drive, would be to either partition the flash drive it's big enough, or to use a new flash drive
just trying to clear things up, the win7 linked above isnt the ultimate edition but a home one.

Rufus is no longer supporting windows 7, you don't get the option to pick win 7 when pressing the download button. Even when downloading older versions of Rufus.
I'm assuming you could do it manually, but I don't know how, could you consider making a video explaining how to do that instead of using the download function?
The 32-bit ISO seems to be 64-bit, based on the ISO name alone; and all rufus versions I've installed do not have any download option
PS: I do not need the 32-bit OS, I'm installing Windows 7 just fine; I'm commenting this just letting you know, who knows if there's someone out there who really needs the W7x32

@dariusalexandru6296 i didnt use the download option, i already had the iso file for win7 downloaded, if you also have the iso file, just select it from browse option, then do the rest of the settings like the video

if it doesnt show windows 7, as a fix you can click on the link in the description for windows 7 iso download, click on select instead of download, and use the iso

Couldnt boot the W7 setup in an old laptop with the UEFi option. Worked only with MBR partition.

It is home premium but this version can be upgraded if you have a pro or ultimate key. I downloaded it and used a pro key from a old desktop i had

It didn't work, on Rufus, there's isn't Windows 7 and when I boot the PC with the USB stick, it failed

you have to go get them yourself. windows doesnt supply them. a program like Driver EZ will find them for you but bogs down your pc

It seems kind of weird that you don't need a serial number. Booting up now, I guess I'll find out. Edit: This is FAR from the whole story. You have to get a product key somewhere, you have to make a partition on your existing system somewhere (it won't install on the flash drive), and you have to make that new partition bootable. All in all, not very helpful.
