Nothing wrong in going for a local walk, sometimes they're the best ones to do, no stress with traffic jams or finding a parking spot. You're not talking to yourself - you're talking to us🙂
Mate the way you talk always seems like your out with somebody. It's a great skill to have. As you know Im now retired, but you seem to have more free time than me! Another great little video. Thanks for sharing.
You live in a nice place mate, nice and handy for a quick touch of the outdoors, good little bit of kit you showed us and very much like the old hexy. Let's just hope this ridiculous fuel problem lifts so we can get further afield Chris, thanks for sharing and as always a cracking vid mate 😉👍
Great video You don't need hills to enjoy yourself. It costs me £90 just in fuel to visit the lakes so I have to go just a couple of times and make the most of it
Bang on. Should've been heading to Cornwall for a camping holiday in a few weeks time but had to cancel due to fuel costs. Now looking at a few wild camps closer to home in The Peak District. Might even venture over to your neck of the woods, fancy Pendle Hill.
😁 Nice quite local walk and video chris. Liking the new stove, small compact and ide take it on a multiday hike as a backup.. But like you, this Sunday I stayed local, always find a quite area or route to do. Like you though, it's as flat as a pancake where I live.. Luckily we have plenty of parks, open meadows and the river Merseyside trail on my doorstep. ( transpennine trail )..😁
Great little vid Chris. Having the short vignettes puts the focus on the smaller and simpler things in life. A mug of chocolate off the woodburner stove and Tunnocks marshmallows in the local nature reserve hits the spot everytime. ATB Chris, hope everything turns out for the best M8 Michael😊👍
Nice one Chris. You're absolutely spot on about exploring our local area. I used to live in a city suburb, but found places that felt wild where I could go for a run through the trees, bushes and bluebells before the dreaded commute to a job I hated. You've got the right idea pal 👍
Nice and simple but very effective buddy, feel ya pain in regards to fuel prices, I suppose it will make the lakes even more worth it when you get up there, well done.
Nice little wander that Chris. What was the black and white bit at the end about, interesting 😂. That stove looked like a decent bit of kit. I bought the fire dragon bcb steel version over (one of the) lockdown...not used it yet!
Another great video Chris. Love your local walks as our lad is up at Edgehill uni so nice to see the local area. Many thanks for filming and posting, really enjoy your videos mate. Best wishes, matt
Chris, you have got to do a camp with Pat Dickinson mate, finished off with an hour in his shed pub and see if you survive the experience 👍 would pay to watch that
I started going hiking when I was about 10 with my mates dad that loved it. From sheff so plenty of places to go. Did first wild camp in the lakes at 27 I'm 54 now so double the age. Invested a good few quid in my gear and go out a lot now but don't wanna film owt, couldn't be doin with walkin past a gate, opening it, setting a camera up, walking back, taking the tripod, camera, down..... omg I'm knackered just thinking about it
Wildcamping or "rough camping" when I started out, meant nothing more than a rucksack, tent and whatever else you could carry to keep you alive for the night or a few nights. You might suffer but the memories were better than nowadays with all the gear that's out there. The thing that kills me most these days is when people talk of their "sleep system" 😂 I used to do high level camps with nothing but a borrowed tent and thin bag with no mat and wake up freezing with a sore hip lol. Got all the proper stuff for 4 seasons now but "sleep system?" Imagine going out, pulling a bird, taking her back to yours and saying....look at my sleep system 🤣 it's a memory foam mattress with a 13.5 tog quilt on top with mattress topper on....she'd laugh you out the room.....I reckon that's why so many lads that get into wildcamping nowadays are single and suffer mental health, stop being so daft about it all and chill....it's a beautiful escape that's all.. don't mek it all scientific and boring.....dull and basically sad. Enjoy it and embrace it, don't over think it....it's very, very basic.
ho holborn hill how pognient, i live on an holborn hill it was the original name of the local villiage before the new town called milllom was built in the 1800s for the new iron ore mines and iron works industry.
Just filmed mine today @ebikecnx7239 cooking a pork chop with a solid alcohol gel round. You don't need a Trangia as individual alcohol rounds are quite inexpensive. The Japanese make a beautiful blue alcohol round, mine are red. However, I did cook a few days ago with an Evernew titanium Trangia under it...but the Firemaple Titanium Lotus Stove was turned upside down for it to fit.
Nice video Chris.....you cant beat getting outdoors and finding a safe space before you get a Banana out ! Glad you didnt film that bit :) Prices have gone mental, filling my van up these days has made me concider short journeys more and i took the tram and train to Edale last weekend which only cost 21 quid in total so if i would have driven with an hour each way and over night parking i think it would have been about 28 to 30 so money saved and slightly more time lost but on a plus side i met 2 wild campers and we had a really good chat which would never have happened if i would have driven there . After i got back i went to Morrisons and had to buy a plastic bag because i forgot my good quality one and it cost 60 pence for god sake......it was only ten pence from what i can remember not that long ago so how do they justify that increase ? I hope you manage to get enough Outside time now we are creeping towards the warmer months. Take care and God bless
Nah, not talking to yourself - talking at least to me, lying on my sofa Saturday afternoon watching Hairy Bikers Christmas cooking shows and backpacking stove videos on the iPhone! I have a little Esbit stove and it is perfect for walks in the country or bike rides, stop somewhere with a view for a brew 👍🏻

Just watched Paul Merson in Yorkshire on BBC2. Never too late to learn. Nature has always been there. Indulgence in it heals. Seclusion from it harms.
Absolutely mate, thanks for checking in.

Nice video Chris. It’s good to get out even if it’s close to home. Handy little stove that. I’ve got a similar one to that and they work really well 👍
Cheers Joe, yep - being out is all that matters 👍
It is similar to the army issue stove you get in the ration packs. Very simple but does the trick. Another great video.
Cheers - yep, does the job - simple and effective - ATB pal

Do you think that the lotus could hold a trangia alcohol stove? Been looking for a little windbreak for it when I'm taking the dog on a long walk
No mate, tried it - I use the Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox Ultralight for my Trangia burner and it's perfect.
Just filmed mine today @ebikecnx7239 cooking a pork chop with a solid alcohol gel round. You don't need a Trangia as individual alcohol rounds are quite inexpensive. Hi Eddy 👍
Would a trangia style alcohol burner fit inside this?
No mate, bit too small.
