When this song was performed here in Buenos Aires, Nightwish had dismissed their second singer and Floor was contacted just to play a few previously scheduled concerts. So people at the end shouting "Floor! Floor! Floor!" was a way for them to say to the band "We want HER! Keep her in!!!!"
Yes, we were yelling "Floor! Floor!". Yes, I was there. Yes, it was that awesome. Love ya guys.

The reason the audience was chanting "Floor!" at the end (and even the drummer Jukka stands up and joins them in a determined "Floor!") is complex and has entirely to do with the transition of singers. Tarja Turunen had such a huge impact on, not only Nightwish, but the whole genre of symphonic metal and a whole new generation of young female singers who aspired to be just like her, that the fans loved her so deeply it was emotionally devastating to them when Tarja was fired. The second singer, Annette Olzon was more of a pop style singer and never quite won the hearts of the fans who were still in a years-long mourning for the loss of their beloved Tarja. Tensions among the band and continued widespread fan rejection took their toll on Annette's health, and these problems came to a head suddenly in the middle of the Imaginarium World Tour in Denver, CO in 2012, and Annette was also fired.
Stuck mid-tour without a singer, Elize Ryd, the singer from the other band touring with them, became a hero by stepping up to get them through the next show. Then, while travelling to the next gig in Seattle, Tuomas Holopainen was in a quandary as to how to proceed. In desperation he called his friend Floor Jansen. Reportedly, she got an emergency call at her home in the Netherlands in the middle of the night, "Can you be on a plane in the morning to the United States and be our lead singer for the rest of the tour? Please learn the setlist in 48 hours." Floor has said in interviews that she was one of those younger singers who admired Tarja Turunen, and her dream job that she never expected to come true was to be Nightwish's singer and belt out her favorite song, Ghost Love Score. She said that that first night in Seattle, she was standing backstage right before her grand entrance "absolutely shitting [her] pants!" in fear that the fans would reject her as they did Annette. She could never be Tarja!
But, contrary to her fears, within the first five seconds after she opened her mouth the fans were, like, "Tarja who??" It was total love at first sight that has not only endured but grown. I guess I mean "at first listen" not sight! By the time this Buenos Aires show was filmed, she still had not accepted the job as permanent nor had she been formally asked to do so. She was officially just the temporary fill-in singer until they decided what to do. It was early in her tenure, and the fans were still in rapture over how totally she brought back the magic that had gone with Tarja so many years earlier. We can be pretty confident that it was fan responses like this one (webzine writers have called it "having a Floorgasm") that resulted in her getting the permanent job. ---PS. Floor, of course, is a Dutch name which, I'm guessing, translates as "Fleur" or flower??)

Everything said is true....plus many more facts....that Floor is in this genre of music 20 years...and she contribute in many bands and projects. Ayreon for example...etc.
correction to this point ..they are not chanting floor but jukka after floor acknowledges him which she does everytime they do GLS...listen to the end again and you will make it out better
Yeah, I thought it strange when Floor thought they wouldn't accept her because After Forever and ReVamp (her other projects) were pretty popular amongst other fans of symphonic power metal. When I heard she was filling in, I almost shit MY pants! She has been regarded as a great singer for quite some time now.

Floor is the greatest live singer I've ever seen. Also in the studio. I've seen them 6 times and she's simply the best singer on the planet. That song gives me chills every single time.
There is NOTHING like watching Floor perform LIVE. She is spot on PERFECT!!! And every time I leave after watching her, I leave all nostalgic. She makes me feel SO MUCH.

If Sori wants to give it a 10, Vin should just accept it and not try and argue the point. Yeah, Floor's vocals are the obvious main focal point in this performance but the music is also outstanding. Maybe the mix was off in Vin's earphones or something because when I hear this track I hear a huge multi-layered, theatrical epic that doesn't require excessive virtuosic instrumentation or flashy solos. The melodies and the rising crescendos along with the subtlety when needed are what make this song such a classic.
Very late replying but Vin completely underrates the musicians~ they are f'n amazing! Every Nightwish song is incredible, both vocally & musically.

Nightwish is definitely one of the best bands out there, I've seen them live... and it was unbelievable. Floor is for me the best female voice in Metal nowadays and the emotions put through their music is something unique, a very unrivalled feeling. I love this band to the core and especially with Floor !

Floor has openly said she intentionally changes things up sometimes on a show basis, so if people expect to see wacken all over and over again, they are sadly mistaken.

React to Nightwish- Storytime at Wacken 2013 & Nightwish- Romanticide at Wacken 2013. Everything you hear with Floor Jansen is her actual voice no auto tune or anything. She is absolutely amazing and has the voice of a goddess.
Dark Chest of Wonders and Storytime are indeed often overlooked, but stunning performances by them at wacken 2013. And Romanticide with floor at wacken 2013 became something like a class on its own.

Tuomas the keyboardist composes and writes 95% of Nightwish music. The vocals to me are an instrument in my mind.........
And his top 3 influences right now are all movie composers. That's why Nightwish songs are so theatrical. Like watching a movie.

Tuomas is just brilliant. All of these amazing people are so very talented in their own right. Honestly I hope vin and sori do more exploration of nightwish on their own because I feel like they're gonna love them a lot once they realise what other epic songs await them
Because this was a smaller stage, NIGHTWISH stage show was constrained. An ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL venue tho, and those fans were really soaking everything in...
Ghost Love Score was written as a platform to elevate the vocalist on a pedestal. It was written for Tarja but Tarja didn't seem to appreciate the song. Anette could never handle the song Live. Floor grabs it and sails it to the heavens. Make no mistake, Tarja is an incredible vocalist in her own right. Tarja and Floor are good friends and they have performed together a couple of times since Floor joined NIGHTWISH. Tarja doesn't like the division in the fans.
Aaron A. Foster that's true, Tarja never appreciated this song....she never sang it with the same passion as Floor, and that you can also see how Emppu and the others enjoys hearing Floor singing this.
@Venus Luciferatta Whether you side with Tarja or Nightwish (which is honestly quite the dumb decision to have to make in the first place), you can't possibly deny that Floor truly made this song her own (listen to the Wacken recording - it's definitely HER song in that one). I've seen a couple of your comments here, and I admire your dedication to and admiration of Tarja, just like I would imagine you admire the dedication to and admiration of other vocalists within other die-hard fans.
@Venus Luciferatta To be honest, I'm not the person you should be targeting. I'm a fan of this channel, and not a die-hard Nightwish fan, though I appreciate them a lot and have somewhat followed their work throughout the years, albeit from a distance. Standing from the outside looking in though, I don't see a lot of people discrediting Tarja's work directly. I think having the opinion that a vocalist that came after Tarja doing a song that was written for her better than she ever did doesn't equal "discrediting her work". Discrediting her work would be to pretend as though she was never in Nightwish, which is delusional, and no one luckily ever lowers themselves to that level. I absolutely agree that bringing someone down is not the way to praise someone else, I just don't see that happening here in this instance, you know what I mean? You're absolutely right, it's been well over a decade and having favourites is never a wrong thing, but as soon as it becomes a pissing contest, the whole fanbase becomes toxic and that seeps into the band's perception of them as well, especially with such an influential band as Nightwish. We've all heard the horror stories of disapproving fans going way too far to prove their misguided loyalty to an ex-member by taking it out on a current one. In any case, we should be glad that Tarja still has a very successful career and is kicking ass on her own, and that Nightwish seems to be as strong as ever with such an insane talent as Floor. The best thing about being a metalhead in my opinion is the (healthy) co-dependent relationship you have with your favourite musicians. They're dedicated enough to the people who truly understand their art that they feed off their energy, which is in turn given by the art itself. It's a beautiful cycle that we should engage in, not try to tear down by silly pissing contests that only divides us, whether it's the fans amongst themselves or a divide between artist and admirer.

Every vocalist deserves a chance, and I think that despite Tarja's god-like legacy, a lot of people have warmed up to Floor and accept her as a perfectly capable vocalist for Nightwish who is capable of taking Nightwish to new territories that are challenging, but still feel undeniably Nightwish-esque. Again, I do not appreciate your insistence on lumping me in with this crowd. I'm not one of them, I will never be one of them and I remain impartial to this whole debate. I don't think fans are annoyed by Tarja being the original vocalist. Her being the original vocalist is an undeniable fact. I find your comments to be quite confusing and contradictory, seeing as you seem to be of the opinion that this Tarja vs everyone feud has to end, but in the same sense seem to have an almost obsessively defensive way of talking about her and her legacy with the band. Maybe I'm just reading it wrong, but it seems like you're both telling the fanbase to grow up and move on from Tarja but also respect what she has done with an obsessive devotion. So...yeah, at this point I'd say I either don't get it, or you're exactly the kind of person you're ranting about.

This ending is definitely the best from a technical standpoint. It was laser precise and uber powerful, but I really like the one from Tampere too. She actually screwed it up. She didn't get a full load of air and squawked right at the end, but when she hit the belt it exploded out of her like a banshee wail. My jaw still hits the floor when I listen to it.
Nightwish is something else.
Try to watch the ''end of an era'' version of this song. This song and ''The greatest show on earth'' are two of the greatest masterpieces of them.
The more you watch them, and get the idea, and feel their messages, the more u can learn from their songs, and see how great they are.
Personally i think we are watching history with our eyes.
I went to 3 shows of Nightwish here in Brazil, and i've never seen anything like it, hopefully on September 28th i'll watch again.

This made me so happy to see you react to this! I love this band! I met them a few months back in a VIP concert in Portland and it was epic. They are an epic band. Their concerts are so much fun. Lots of interaction with the crowd and you can tell they really enjoy what they are doing. Floor does have an amazing voice! And Tuomas is a god on the keyboard! Thank you for this!

Guys, listen to the Wacken 2013 version and it's even more clean and powerful. Much better sound at that event. I think there was 80000 people and great pyro etc, etc, etc.

Hey Ann! Whass happ'nin? Just stopped by to holla at you. This is a good performance but nowhere near the Wacken 2013 show! I'm thrilled they did this song but disappointed because they cheated themselves out of a better performance.
Ghost Love Score is such an amazing song - Floor wasn't the original signer for the band (or this song), but she's made it her own and absolutely kicks ass with it. She's an incredibly talented woman.
LIVE SONG SUGGESTION! Check out Phantom of the Opera by Nightwish (the recording from The End of an Era DVD). That one has their original vocalist, who was far more operatic in her vocal style. It's a fantastic rendition of the song.

You can see when together on stage (with Marcela Bovio performing "Valley of the Queens" life on Ayreon Universe last year. I went to this show, I was on vacation and I was gonna go to Bolivia, but then Nightwish anounced the tour here in south america during my vacation so I canceled the Bolivia trip and went to Argentina to see them, it was an amazing show. Glad to see you guys reacting to it.

Floor is classical trained singer, but she owns pretty much all different singing styles. She really has put on effort her training. I remember she was in Netherlands some sort of Rock Academy as well where she learned sing different rock styles - even growling. Tarja is pretty much "only" classical singer and Anette (between them) is much "weaker" singer with more like pop style singing and she really struggled on live gigs. Her voice didn't last and didn't stay on notes.
Yes, Tuomas Holopainen (keyboardist) writes almost all the music and lyrics (95%) in this band. Bass player/singer, Marco Hietala writes some too.
There would've been available even better live version of this song (in my opinion): Wacken Open Air 2013.

I don't think she has learned growling at Rock Academy. She developed it much later while was in Revamp. If you've watched Disdain at Graspop 2010, that's the very beginning for her in growling imo..

I've seen you dig much less to songs you've given a 10 before. You even bowed to the vocalists grandness. That's a first, and you love a few certain singers after all. And the music didn't go anywhere? Generic? How much symphonic metal have you heard before? Their orchestral production is impeccable. There's a lot going on in their music you're probably missing. How can something so dynamic and complex be generic and not going places?? You alwys complain about songs being too short and/or repetitive. The only thing repeting in this song is the chorus "My fall will be for you"... 2 choruses, 4 lines. That's it. So this is opposite to generic and it's a story and not a song about nothing. Doean't make sense Vin!
And I believe "falling for someone" is meaning weak knees. You always hear that when you're in love that your knees gets weak and you feel like you're melting. I'm falling for you into your arms.

The Greatest Show on Earth - Nightwish
she is an amazingly classically trained singer. I just saw them live a few months back and she really is that amazing live. you should also check out their live performance of Phantom of the Opera with their original lead singer Traja. Both singers are really great friends with vastly different ranges but both very amazing and fit well with the band.
For recording this song in 2002 with Tarja Turunen they had a 40+ orchestra playing. for that song to be pleyed live they had to have tapes, recordings to play that back. so they always play to the tape, only the band plays their own parts and the siner, Tarja, then Anette and now Floor had to adjust them to the tape. Eacht singer gave her own way of singing it, and no one expexted Floor to make it this epic, she got to sing more "classic"nightwish along the road and the years, songs that Anette couldn't / wouldn't sing. FLoor is a powerhouse of her own, she can do an "Anette" just as easy as a "Tarja" she's the best female vocalist in Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, her range is insane from grunting to 5 octaves, yes she has more then Tarja.

Floor Jensen is THE GODESS
The key player is the songwriter. Nightwish are a symphonic metal band. The group is built around the score so to speak. The vocals are part of that score. The melodies to my knowledge are also written by the key player. If you look at it like a traditional rock/metal band of simply guitar, bass and drums then it might seem more generic but the rest of the instrumentation is what makes it stand out and that is all from the key player.
Anette left quite of a sudden, and The band phoned Floor, who was at that time at her sisters wedding, with the question if she would gather her stuff, go to Amsterdam airport and get on a plane to Florida, and oh yeah.. you have 48 hours to learn a 90 minutes setlist of songs.. She just was recovering from a depression....She did catch that plane and Yes Vin, the crowd is yelling : " Floor, Floor, Floor!!!" Begging her actually to stay as frontwoman. She just went on the aeroplane to fill the empty boots of Anette just to finnish the tour, and that was it, but during the tour band and floor grew a chemistry of brothers with a sister, she told in tha tsame intervieuw, she has now 5 brothers looking after her :D

Your faces when she hits that high last note was exactly my face when I saw them live in 2015 in Mexico, and honestly I was bawling crying, she is just fucking incredible. I have seen Nightwish countless times and this last time she knocked my socks off. I had the pleasure to talk to her after that gig in backstage and she is just so humble and lovely, I fucking love them, man. Thanks for this.
And yes Floor is classically trained, but she has always been a metal head so she loves to be versatile which Tarja can’t. She had a band before Nightwish in the early years of Gothic metal, the band was After Forever, you should check them. I recommend songs such as Emphasis, Beyond Me, Mea Culpa and my personal favourite My Choice.

Saw them live once a few years ago. I love nightwish and I already knew they were great live because I watched live videos just like you guys did, but when I actually experienced that, it was otherworldly. I've seen massive bands play live from Judas Priest to Iron Maiden to Megadeth etc. but the Nightwish show was still the most beautiful experience overall. In August I'm seeing them again and I couldn't be more hyped.
I heavily recommend delving deeper into Nightwish's songs since you like breaking down the lyrics. They have a lot of material you guys can work with. Song of Myself (not live) has a special place in my heart, I'd love to see a reaction to that.

Watch AC/DC - Thunderstruck Live from River Plate. On of the best live concerts and crowds i've ever seen. Around 100 000 people jumping and going nuts, you gotta see this. Actually, you can listen to any song from that show, it is just the best example that good crowd can make epic concert legendary. If you love music, you definitely cannot live without seeing this live.

For another symphonic metal band but a bit heavier and also with a great female vocalist, try EPICA - Consign To Oblivion - Live at the Zenith (OFFICIAL VIDEO). There are ties between the 2 bands and their singer has done a duet with Floor
The Guitarist of EPICA, Mark Jansen, was the founder of After Forever which Floor was the singer for the bands entire existence under the name After Forever. And, despite both of their last names being Jansen, they are not related. Jansen is a common name in the Netherlands apparently. It must get very confusing.
Like Johnson, or Jones in Wales... seriously, like half the country's last name is Jones...

robert shimek Actually, Mark Jansen founded After Forever. The band originally went under another name and was Death Metal band at the beginning, with Mark doing the singing. After Floor joins the band, the band changed there name to After Forever and changed there style to Symphonic Metal to showcase Floors soprano vocals. But, yeah, Mark gave up rights to the band when he left them and formed Epica.
