I recently observed a complete playthrough of the game and found it to be quite disappointing. I had anticipated a compelling psychological thriller or horror game exploring religious themes. While there are indeed religious undertones and concepts present, the game ultimately comes across as a disorienting and psychedelic experience. It appears that the developers strived for ambitious goals but ultimately fell short. Despite the game's aesthetic appeal and the development of its characters, there remains a lack of clarity and understanding.
Incredible in depth review in terms of research into Russian literature and media as references but that ultimately sins in it's scoring. Since it's not a Sony cinematic snore-fest trying to push an agenda, it gets scored lower than it deserves. Do better.
The only bad thing about hipsters is when they turn their nose up at something good for no good reason, in their case simply because it's mainstream. You have a lot in common with those annoying hipsters.
God those go-pro strapped to the forehead style camera angles are bizarre as hell, I kind of love it.
Still have no idea wtf this game is
Walk sim with cutscenes and puzzles
And some basic pixelated pac man like mini games
Might be from seeing a 5 min video about a product that probably lasts more than 5mins.. and lasting 5mins should sound familiar
i feel the same about Hellblade
@@xtensionxward3659 at least with hellblade you consistently see combat fights.
@@Reezy884 yeah "combat fights " lmao
its even funnier you said see not play hahaha XD
Definitely buying this, I want more games like this getting funded, even if this isn’t a perfect execution.
Same
Excellent review, whoever wrote this is a cut above many writers in games media
"Ruin is ubiquitous, though we're never told why."
I think that was answered when you said it was late 19th century Russia.
Really good review. Definitely indepth. I agree it hits on that russian literature/cinema vibe which has its own unique take.
This game is what a video game would look like if film studio A24 decided to make games. 😂
I dont know why but its remind me of "Andreï Roublev " by Tarkovski.
Very interesting
I WAS LITERALLY THINKING THIS??? maybe it was an inspiration? ;o
It reminds me a lot also of other movies by Tarkovski like Solaris and Stalker, also reminds me a lot of crime and punishment by dostoyevsky
Ida as well
💛

Can’t wait to play this I’ll have to wait for the ps version but it’s the most interesting looking game I’ve seen for a while
This game was a one of a kind experience
Anyone know if this looks better on Nintendo Switch or on PC?
How long to beat says 4 hours??? Anyone disagree??

Never go full essayist
GOTY nominee
I love games where the Devil is on my side, even though I am supposed to be "good"
You said a lot without saying anything really...
Ah, yes, the token hipster game of 2024.
you'd still be whining if this was a generic COD clone so keep whining

Oh My God - I thought they were wearing hijabs
Highly jewish concept for a game! God protect russia.
the game studio is pro Ukraine so makes sense
