I know this video is over a year old, but I was so glad to see your daughter with the Christy Miller Series! I actually read many of the books when I was a teen (when they were new releases). I read them again about a year ago and these books are actually on my list for my 16 year old daughter to read for homeschool. I just think they are wholesome books. I wouldn't recommend for young readers just because of some of the things that the books deal with. The entire series goes all the way up to the baby years. I just purchased those (have never read). I am so excited to be reading these books with my daughter. :) Thank you for the video! I put some of these on my goodreads list.
Wow! Our library here in Ottawa has what they call a massive book sale every month. It's not fill a bag for $5 but it's still great. The money goes back to the library. Our local branches have a small amount of books (in good shape) that were donations that they're not interested in. I saw 3 Jen Turano books there. After reading the first one in the series (that I bought from the library) I kicked myself for not picking up all 3 when they were there. Every time I go to our local branch of the library, I check for Christian books. They've consistently had a few at a time.
The shack is amazing, I love it SO much. The edition I got was thrifted and has an old friendly love letter on the front page, so romantic, it says Christmas 06-05 I cant tell, but it’s really very cool to me, so I had to share! Im just at that point in the video where you pull up the shack and I got so excited, but I love this channel, as a young Christian lady in a Christian family, this channel has been a go to for book recommendations and information! My mom and I are bookworms too, so we will totally be adding a lot of these books to our tbr.
A love letter in your thrifted book?!?! Isn’t that the coolest thing ever?!? I love that ❤️ Thank you so much! I’m so happy to hear that my channel has been a blessing to you and your mom! 🥰
I just found your channel and my daughter and I have been binge watching your videos! Especially these book videos! We love reading and only allow wholesome books in our house, too, so these have been such a great find for us. Keep them coming! 🤍
So excited to see Lawhead on your list!!!! Love his Paradise War series the most. He is strong on Celtic takes. Not outright Christian, but has Christian themes like LOTR. He also wrote takes on Patrick and Hood (Robin Hood).
Thank yall for showing the book Sins of the Past!! I absolutely loved the first story!! My church book club is reading it! And i recently learned to look for the publishers name to see if its kids or christian. Bethany House and Thomas Nelson are always clean!
Yes! Knowing the Christian publishers names is a game changer when trying to find good books! That’s so cool your church book club is reading this! ❤️ I love the idea of a church book club!!!
I remember Redeeming Love being a great book. I can’t speak for the movie. I probably won’t be seeing it. But the book was great! Also, The Atonement Child by Francine Rivers is a great one!
It's always good to have a disclaimer about the books. It seems like so many books (esp. YA books) now include sexual content in their stories. I had thought that "The Inheritance Games" was a good recommendation but another book tube host (Lindsey from BFCG) said that there's a lot of sexual content in it. I can't remove them from my school's library but I'm not recommending them anymore.
Absolutely! I’ve been so disappointed in the YA options since my girls got into that reading level. So many are filled with unnecessary garbage 😒. You have to be so careful. I love Lindsey’s channel bc she only promotes clean books and tells when there is questionable content in them!
These videos are so addicting! I binge watch all your reading recommendations for myself and my daughter. I’ve read a ton because of these recommendations! Thank you :)
If you like Dee Henderson you will like both Lynnette Eason and Dani Pettrey. My favorite book series is Dani Pettrey's Alaskan series. I believe it was her first. Just a heads up: All 3 stories in the Sins of the Past book are continuations from previous series that the authors have already written. Ya'll have found some treasures. Enjoy!
I unhauled the beast is an animal based on a review that said "The village they live in, is very strictly religious although they never call it god, and the beast is supposed to be the devil, but there are no evil deeds by the beast in this book. If anything, it is the religious villagers who do the most evil, apart from the sisters." Just thought I would let you know in case that made you uncomfortable like it made me. Great Video!
I was wondering about this one! Bc of time, I don’t think I even looked through that book yet. We might need to pass that one on. Thank you for the heads up! ❤️
I just found your channel. I love to watch book hauls and I hardly see any Christian Hauls. I watched The Shack on Netflix. I thought it was ok. Christian Authors to try: Karen Kingsbury Terri Blackstock Colleen Cable You will love them!!!!
I would probably wait a few years on Hunger Games movie. The end of the series is far more gory than the beginning even considering the theme as a whole. If she can watch one and be content, maybe. But I wouldn't delve into the series knowing how much it ramps up in the end.
I loved the Christy Miller Series when I was your age. It is very clean :) She has another the Sierra Jensen series (but I much preferred the Christy Miller). She also has clean romance and "adult" fiction books that my mom loved... but I have never read them. Maybe I'll give them a try.
Thank you for the recommendations! She has read the first book in the Christy Miller series, but I didn’t know until the other day that it was such a big series! Thank you!
@@ourthriftyhomeschool I remember it being clean😉 my mom wouldn’t have allowed otherwise 😃 some boyfriend, girlfriend stuff, but I’m pretty sure that’s all
Ooooo I just read Reckoning At Gossamer Pond. I loved it! My review posts Wednesday - one week from today. I'm about to start one you recommended with a fish on the cover. I think it's called Out of My Mind. I didn't take the same issues with The Shack that most of my friends did but I felt it was preachy without real Biblical substance.
Thank you for all of this! I can’t wait to read the Gossamer Pond book! So glad to hear you loved it! Out of my mind was so good! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Thanks for the input on the Shack too….I’m just going to read it out of curiosity and see what I think 😁

Yay! Thank you both for watching my! So glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
I haven't read Brian's winter yet but I did read the first book Hatchet at the recommendation of my husband. I plan on getting the whole series
My oldest read Hachet…..I don’t think I realized it was a series!
Thanks!

I love that you do these videos with your daughter🥰

I hope to read lots more in 2024. I hope to follow your reading too!
I want to get back into reading more too! I've struggled to make the time lately. 😬

Love library booksales! Ours is next friday and then the following Friday they are having a homeschool swap, so I am looking forward to both of those!
Oh man! That sounds so fun! 🥳

Thanks for the tips! ❤️
I really enjoy Jaime Jo Wright! I’ve read 2 of hers and they’re spooky yet clean. Good reads!
You guys found some awesome books! 🤓
That’s awesome! I can’t wait to read the one I got by her! ❤️

I love Terri Blackstock and Colleen Coble! I still haven’t read Karen Kingsbury yet….I really should!

I waited until my daughters were 15 before watching it.

The Glenbrook series by her is SO good! (It's a tad dated, but it's my absolute favorite!)
O my! I thought I had a lot of books... 😂 I'm a big fan of Francine Rivers!!
Lol 😂
Awww that’s great to hear! I’m excited to read this one that I got!
The Christy Miller series!! Brings back teenage reading memories☺️☺️

@@ourthriftyhomeschool You're most welcome. I mention you in my video that posted today. I am really enjoying your channel.
Redeeming love is fantastic but adults only!! Not YA!!
Yes! My daughter won’t be reading that one! ! 😬
I’m glad to hear you liked it though.
The Shack is incredibly controversial for good reason. Please read plenty of the critiques before diving in.
Or can read it yourself and make your own opinion on it.
I will! Thanks for the heads up.
That’s ok! I appreciate input from you all!
O-H! 😍
I-O! ❤️
I had to stop reading redeeming love because I personally didn’t feel it was clean in terms of sexual arousal and details in that realm
Thank you for the feedback!
The shack gave me nightmares for months.
Oh no! 😬 I don’t really know much about it….maybe I should look into it first!
I’ve heard that from more than one person so even though it sounds so powerful, I haven’t read it and I don’t plan to.
