Im a 29 year old white American farmer from Idaho, how you guys arent in the rock n roll hall of fame is an injustice, more like then hall of LAME! Cause you guy's fuckin rock, love you all, cheers from America this next beer is for you George
Great post! Golden Earring have been huge in Europe, but our musical tastes in America are mostly a joke! Golden Earring and Thin Lizzy should be in the hall of fame... PERIOD
I saw Golden Earring at the Roxy Theater in Northampton, PA in 1974. I still remember it in detail today at 66. One of the best bands I have ever seen. Their encore was Radar Love. I was standing by the stage in this small venue and took home a souvenir "drum stick" thrown into the crowd. A wonderful night to remember.
I remember buying this single back in the day. We played it with our band in school. We called our band Golden Sea, because we loved Earring and lived in a town by the sea. Hands down the best Dutch rockband ever.
So, fans... Last weekend came the news that Golden Earring has ended, due to illness of George Kooymans. It's all over now.... Thank you Golden Earring!!
Turn out the lights; the party's over. They say that all good things must end. Call it a night; the party's over, but man, what a great party that was! Thanks Millions, Golden Earring!
These guys were so underrated. Skip past the hits of Radar Love and Twilight Zone that are great but we’ve all heard and there’s a ton of good stuff to discover. Hopefully George enjoys his retirement despite the disease.
These guys had a couple of smash hits, and they WERE great hits, but otherwise they have been pretty much overlooked in the US. This song is a perfect argument that a song doesn't have to be a "smash hit" to be truly great! In spite of their huge hits, this is my favorite Golden Earring cut!
Still going strong in The Netherlands, they toured the USA before Led Zeppelin, they opened for them, after the gig the Drummer and Bassplayer opened the speakers of Led Zeppelin, measured everything and closed them up again, and when they came back to the Netherlands thye had the speakers made like Led Zeppelin had.. they had KISS and Aerosmith opening for them in the 70's . The Beatles - Michelle kept them off from having their first no1 song back in the day, they exist longer then the Rolling Stones.
I’m wondering, are there any other young people like me (I’m 18) that listen to these guys?? Golden Earring are a great and super underrated band. My favorite album is “Together” and to be honest, I couldn’t tell you what my favorite song is by them.
This song will always remind me of my dear friend, Denise DeJulio. It is still hard for me to comprehend that she passed away three years ago and taken from those of us who loved her much too soon and I just know she is still flying on strange wings on the other side. She is the one who turned me on to Golden Earring in 1974 and I will be forever grateful to her for so many things. She loved Gold Earring more than anyone I ever knew and we all loved her.
Great band I lived in Holland for many years. My scout leader was their car mechanic. At 15 I hung out with them, when they got their cars serviced Got to go to the concerts for free Amazing songs amazing band!! Really nice normal group of guys Their songs will last forever!! Thanks GE for sharing your talent with us all.
You always hear "what a great group of guys, really nice" why don't you hear "these guys were crazy, they would shove their fist up their butts all day long"
Barry Hay is the coolest Rock frontman ever...and his coolness never faded. He changed with the times...and no one played guitar or made it sound like George. 😎
Wat een weergaloos nummer is dit. Weeeeeergaloooooos!!!! Altijd gevonden en heel bijzonder dat ik na bijna 50 jaar nog altijd diepverliefd ben op DIT nummer!
I agree very much! I loved this song since my aunt introduced it to me. She suffered of a grave injury called "multiple sclerose" then and died of that some years later. But this song connects me to her and gives me the power to understand and to fly wherever I want.
Gypsy 1per center flew on strange wings until soul died in my arms. Musical emotions felt if you've been unable to forget a soul flowing through your body like a breeze as the reaper takes Suzy to another dimension, where I've been before, walked from the tomb
Today, I heard the best song of Golden Earring... First time I’ve heard it... and I’m Dutch. A little ashamed I am indeed. Radar love was my all time best... until today that is. Wow. Blown away!
Jeetje Nancy. Als je deze nog nooit gehoord hebt, welke mis je dan nog meer? Je hebt nu toch wel alle nummers van ze opgezocht he? 😂 Voor mij is dit hun beste nummer!
It's hard to believe how young they are. kind of like watching Pink Floyd at Pompeii. Also agree about Golden Earring being overlooked in the states. But they are in some pretty damn good company. The music industry really deprived us of some great music over the years. Thank god for the internet.
Yet another genius hard rock/progressive rock band from the late 60's/ early 70's.The list is endles. just so much talent. The best time ever for music
Good God they were talented and gorgeous. How come they aren’t in the Rock Music Hall of Fame? And how come they weren’t really huge in the US and we had to listen to crappy disco and ballad crap forced upon us? Golden Earring were Rock Gods. At least Radar Love and Twilight Zone got some US air play. But obviously not enough!
This defied everything I thought I knew about early seventies rock. I thought that Zeppelin, Purple and Sabbath led the charge but these guys matched them for ability, style and creativity. They were obviously flying under the radar (pardon the pun) because by the time MOONTAN grabbed everyone's attention, songs like this (and others) had become staples in the Netherlands. It makes you wonder who THEIR influences must have been. Still sounds amazing 50 years on. If they had drones then, even the video would have worked.
Here is something that a lot of people may not know: The Golden Earring have has the same 4 members throughout there career and are still touring till this day
Not quite so, sir. The group exists since 1961. Before Barry Hay as leadsinger and Cesar Zuiderwijk as drummer, there were others. Barry Hay joined the band in 1967 and Cesar Zuiderwijk became the drummer since 1970. I noticed a similarity to The Guess Who and thought, Yeah, he does remind me of Burton Cummings (Big compliment). 3. Exactly, Pink Floyd from 3:45!
I hear you loud, good Sir. For another example, look at Beth Hart. One of the greatest singer, not getting any air play. Sad world we live in...:-(
Its weird to think people who were about 20 odd in the 70's looked like they could have been 40! Even some of the 19 year olds 😂

From the album "Seven Tears" (1971). This is excellent. Thanks for this excellent video quality and stereo sound.
Their early stuff was the best, including this amazing song (drummer is unbelievably hot), and they all are unbelievably talented....
