Pretty sure she understood and just bluffing, since she couldnt focus at the end of the clip and blew the robot up.

+Snapple Mangolister I theory I have is that Pascal knew what Hubert meant but deiced on playing koy just in case one of them didn't survive the final battle.

Personally, I think it's rather that she subconsciously didn't like the idea of Hubert getting married to someone else, which confused her and led to her messing up.
Oh crap... I was looking for Hubert's glasses then... there it is! Right in front of my face! It's on Pascal! Magic...
I don't think she understood it subconsciously, I think it's more that she felt confused and upset that Hubert was getting married. We can see throughout the game that she clearly likes him, such as when she starts building him his own robot and Fourier comments that Pascal must really like him, but it's not until after she misinterprets his love confession as him getting married that she starts to worry if her feelings for him go beyond mere friendship. Or at least that's how I interpreted it.
I love them both... but I was very disappointed in Pascal in this scene. I'm just glad it gets better.

I think she has a thing for Hubert too. At the sidequest where she paints Mecha Asbel she is talking about how the little bro will be happy because of this all the time
She sees it as a sort of buddy buddy thing at first, she gets the hint at the end of the game.
Poor hubert indeed xD i wish there was a Tales of Graces 2 game. Like destiny 2 where the main heroes have kids and you play as them, that would be sooooo totally awesome!
Imagine Pascal and Hubert few years later getting married and having a kid, same for asbel and cheria and those kids would form a party of Tales of Graces 2 with some new party members they meet on their journey.
Poor Hubert... To be honest it would have been better if he'd of made it more clearer to pascal, despite everyone else knowing it was a confession...
I'm pretty sure the implication here is that Pascal knows what Herbert is really confessing to, but she's so incredibly socially awkward that she doesn't know how to turn him down artfully. So she avoids the confrontation by pretending to not understand.
People Pascal loves Hubert just as he loves her the problem is that she didn't know how to deal with it. The fact that your machine breaks even though it has never happened to you is proof enough. You can also see enough confirmations at the end. Hubert and Pascal are sure to get 100% married one day

Well i guess to each his own, I found the story pretty good and to be honest the complex parts and deep story for others may seem "basic and predictable" I understand that i sometimes found some stories very predictable while other didn't.
In the end i wouldn't go and call Graces story basic and predictable as it was very long, it had it's fair share of plots, discoveries, finding who the source of the evil is, visiting other planet, growing up, changing and etc.
And i agree Abyss is epic :)

My understanding from this is that Pascal is very aware of Herbert's true meaning, but she doesn't know how to artfully and tactfully decline his offer. Pascal does love Herbert but she feels too focused on her work to really give a relationship the time and dedication that it will deserve. So she pretends (basically, panics) to not understand Herbert, knowing that such confusion will likely just irritate Herbert and he would just walk away. (Which he did).

As far as I can tell she didn't understand, but at the end her subconscious feelings were affecting her and she didn't know that's what it was. She figures it out by L&L's ending.

Basic? I thought it was complex, specially with the Future Arc where Little Queen get's involved and Sophie thinks about death and how everyone else will leave her.
Sure the story was nothing amazing but it had it twists, it had shocking parts, and it showed a very interesting plot of a place with no humans showing how peacful it can be when there is no humans/wars and killing involved.
Sorry for such long text but for me the story was way better than just "basic" imo.
To be honest in the end Hubert will need to tame a cat which is her. It happened at the ending. Good luck Hubert!

Yeah. Graces F was still a great JRPG, though for a Tales Of game it's alright.
Well, just because a story is long doesn't mean it's not basic. Tales of Phantasia had a very long and basic story.

There's several reasons the relationship doesn't make sense but I wouldn't count age among them.
I think she subconsciously got his message. The fact that she actually messed up her invention which sounded like it rarely happens. Right after his "confession"
There are two Tales of pairings that I just don't agree with.
Hubert and Pascal, Jude and Millia.
....Also Zelos and Sheena, but I don't think that ever got beyond teasing.
Weird how all three involve the summoner.
I can't change how you feel. But I like those pairings.
If they would have made a continuation of Graces F then Malik would likely have ended up with Victoria. Sophie I don't know. Asbel and Cheria is pretty obvious.
The same with Jude and Milla. Alvin and Presa used to be an item and in TX2 there was a timeline were they became engaged or married. Leia was in love with Jude. But I don't really see that. If I have to be honest. I can kinda see Alvin and Leia ending up together a few years later.
Elize is too young and Rowen will likely date Marcia. Ludger as shown will end up with Elle's mother Lara Mel Marta if things had been different.
I don't really see anyone else except Jude and Milla.
But I guess if you still wanna hold onto what you said then just forget what I have commented here.
Honestly the only one I did not like was in Tales of Legendia. Senel and that one chick. Him and that knight (I think her name was Chloe or something. I haven't played Legendia in a while) would have been better
It has the potential to be a good game if they take more than an hour to write the story. I like the characters in Graces, but the story is painfully basic. Get the writers of Abyss or Symphonia and we're in business.
The twists were extremely predictable, and the entire story was run by the idea of friendship. "Very interesting plot of a place with no humans showing how peaceful it can be when there is no humans/wars and killing involved." - - This is essentially our world. The setting was what made the story even more bland. There really is nothing much complex in Graces F when comparing it to Abyss or Symphonia (besides the battle system)
