The hardest part, for me, is probably recording and trimming the audio. Every mistake I have to retake and do it over and over again until I deliver the line correctly. Then, I have to go back through the audio, sentence by sentence, and trim all the gaps between the retakes... but I have to trim them to the millisecond so that it sounds organic. I use C4 in nightmare. If you put 2on top of each other it doesn't work but if you put 2 C4 but 1 on each side of the plague heart at the same time it destroys it in 1 detonation. I've found its the best way. You can sneak in with or without scentblock and do it as long as you place 1 C4 on each side of the heart.
In addition to this, there have been many players claiming the same throughout the Nightmare Zone series that they often require 3-5 C4 charges to destroy a heart, and that it never works in combined explosions regardless of positioning.
To clarify, I am not saying that people have not been able to do this successfully. What I am saying is that I haven't been able to replicate the results, and others have had the same experience. As a result, I will not advise people to use a strategy that cannot be reliably replicated and is likely subject to the janky bugginess of the game.
Have you (or anyone else) tried using drone strike destroying plague hearts on nightmare yet? (edit) thanks once again for all your hard work on these well done instruction vids. Invaluable for even experienced players.
Oh and I believe the recon drone will reveal the map like a survey car if you don't happen to have a survey car. Granted the car is better because it's always active but if you don't have one...
Awesome vid as always Git Gud Fox. ^^ I use the recon drone to find Bloaters for the 3 bloater kill mission. Makes it so easy and fast. :) I still have not found someone with hacking. I also wish that it let us have 7 Outposts.
Fox, maybe the artillery strike will work on the PH aswell, just remember the toss is short AF, hahaha. I'm going to try the drone/arty strikes on the PHs and see if it works that was great. It would be good for doing a speed destruction of a cluster of hearts. Do one at the start and maybe it will regen and blow another away at the end.
If it works, with reliability, (some people are saying the strike doesn't always kill), in Nightmare Zone, then the skill is overwhelmingly powerful from the NZ perspective.
Aside from getting the outpost upgrade, I never had any other use for computers. However, for some reason I have really bad luck in finding people with computers, or people with empty slots if I have a book, if I don't start with them. I find it a lot better for my sanity in my later runs to start with someone with computers for that, and I never got rid of them because they had the trait that gave free beds.
Hey Fox. I'm new to SoD2 so your videos are very informative. Do you perhaps have a video where you discuss the different options of facilities to build in bases? Or the facilities' pros and cons all in your base review list? Thanks a million :))
I prefer C4 over grenades, some plague hearts are in odd positions making you risk self damage and injuries if you use grenades. As for C4 bust in and place down two packs then get out of the blast radius and pop it. Most of the time the heart dies instantly as long as you didn't stack the C4. If it survives bust in again and go full auto on it.
It never works for me. I had an episode where I surrounded a heart with 6 C4s surrounding it, and it survived them. DevGru Infiltrator and Pyrolauncher are a lot more reliable and don't require a 5th skill.
@@GitGudFox I've played around with C4 quite a bit and I know what you mean. I've placed around 10 on one heart and it still survived. I think two is kind of the sweet spot, definitely like the Devgru X12 though. That thing chews through plague hearts really well.
I found the videos for Gardening, Medicine, Chemistry, and Computers. Have you done any of the other 4 Community skills? Craftsmanship, Mechanics, Cooking, and Utilities. I would love to check them out
With c4, if you can place 2 c4 charges on opposite sides of the plague heart you an place both and it will kill it with 1 detonation. Placement is key. Al lot of times the plague heart is in the corner of a room so proper placement isn't possible. But again has to be directly opposite so you're making a plague heart sandwich. At least it works on Standard zone no idea on nightmare.
To clarify, I am not saying that people have not been able to do this successfully. What I am saying is that I haven't been able to replicate the results, and others have had the same experience. As a result, I will not advise people to use a strategy that cannot be reliably replicated and is likely subject to the janky bugginess of the game.
Did they patch out the drone strike affecting the plague heart? Ive only used the recon drone for a quick drive around town to recon up the town and then never use them again lol. Shame the computer skill is not more interesting or useful, though I noticed when they added the map before Trumball Valley that they added a failed CLEO drop option to open up maybe to make it more useful to have a programmer briefly before kicking them to the curb.
It's annoying because the solar power generator facility wants knowledge of electricity, but the mod wants knowledge of electronics. The terminology gets confusing.
Yeah I usually end up using pipe bombs and Molotovs most of the time due to how easy they are to either find or craft. Some of the higher damage fire bombs if I have the resources to make those. I don’t think I’ve ever crafted C4.
I don't have time for it right now. I have like 5 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night to myself, and making the SoD2 video series takes up like 3-4 hours.
Idk if it was changed since this was made, but you can definitely drop 2 c4 and blow them both up at once. I was clearing hearts doing that earlier for the kill hearts with explosives bounty. It is a bit expensive, but at the point in standard zone where you're looking to clear hearts and end the game the cost doesn't really matter. I find it mostly comes down to your stock of Circuitry. Parts and chems seem to become incredibly trivial late game. Personally I still prefer to throw a moltov and unload with a DEVGRU X12 Infiltrator because it makes me feel like a complete bad ass but I can see why people like c4.
I have found that you can set up more than one block of c4 next to each other to blow up a plague heart in one go. However in nightmare and lethal, it does take a few blocks. For me it took about 6-8 on nightmare and lethal zones.
Hey! This, as usual, was very thorough & informative. IMO the strike "grenades" should draw ALL zombies to it. Maybe, not in nightmare, to stay consistent with the "rules" of nightmare. The 1 & only time I tried a strike grenade, was an artillery strike, which has nothing to do with this video, since it's an outpost. But, every single undead around me, followed me, as I tried to run away from the strike area. So, based on that, I didn't think a drone strike could possibly be any better than the artillery strike. Cool, I was correct, for once LOL
You could get a similar result to that, but it would require a setup. You'd have to use a real distraction to rally the zombies up first, then you could destroy them with the drone strike.
I found the drone strike to not be worth it. Between the time it takes to receive the flare to call it in and the cool down between uses you could have taken care of whatever problem you were faced with in another way.
I think that is underestimating its value. With the strike, you have the convenience of destroying a plague heart, on a whim. You could discover a plague heart in your exploration and immediately remove it without any need for preparation. It's also extremely efficient in terms of resources as the investment cost is immediately recovered on kill + profit.
You just activate the ability, and the flare is given to you. The ability recharges every 25 minutes. That means, every 25 minutes, you could destroy a plagueheart on a whim just because you feel like it. No need to re-arm. No need to plan. You just have to see if the ability is charged or not.
Other then fixing the mass cluster that walled off my base that is what I used the drone for. Poping hearts. Any time I see one close to a wall or even better outside I throw it down back off and let the drone bust it. Don't have to worry about getting plagued or set on fire because an ally npc in another settlement desided the best way to kill one is to throw a molotov setting us on fire but missing the heart.
I was going to say, haha. That is alot of torture just to get them. They are all the same basically. The fifth slot either brings in a resource or extra outpost. And unlocks both options for whichever skill it is. Like the hacker will unlock programming and electronics. They are proficient in all their skills. The only thing is dont get two operators with the same fifth skill. I'm not sure how many their are but it would make sense to have one for all the basic fifth skills.
I really like the ability to kill plague hearts with the drone. It would be interesting to find out how it works in higher levels as I'm in a standard playthrough now.
Actually, C-4 does allow multiple placements and simultaneous detonation. Its effectiveness against Plague Hearts seems to fluctuate, though. I've placed 2 charges at the base of a Heart and killed it. It has also taken 3 charges to kill one. I have taken to using 3 so I don't have to go back into the danger area.
I had an episode where I surrounded a heart with 6 C4s, and it still didn't die. Lots of people say it can be done, but I haven't been able to replicate it in my attempts which is why I don't recommend it.
I'm going programming to clear the failed CLEO drop. I know programming isn't needed, but I figure I'll do it once this way, just to do it, and after that I'll just brute force 'em. This is ultimately a bummer because I had my main/first survivor learn this skill and I more-or-less feel he's not going to be pulling his weight now. Are box mines still useless against ferals and juggernauts, or have they been improved with a later update?
@@GitGudFox Unfortunately I didn't have that option yet. I recently got a couple missions from a Red Talon guy so I'm guessing I'll have access to them pretty soon.
For some reason when I make meds on my nightmare community, it doesn’t level up my character with the medical skill. I’m trying to get surgery but I can’t seem to level up the base medical skill, I’ve tried making bulk cures and painkillers and I feel like I’m just wasting my meds!
Because you are. The bulk plague cures and painkillers improve your chemistry knowledge. You must create bandages and first aid kits to improve medicine.
I successfully place 3 c4 at plaguehearts to oneshot them, albait that is fabously expensive, I sneak in, place and leave then blow up. But 3 c4 are very pricy. Maybe placeing 5 remote mines will oneshot a heart too?
So after watching this, I had the bright idea of "hey, I'll find a good quirk skill that has knowledge of computers, simply to get the outpost, but have a handy side effect or two to go with it". Unless I'm missing something, there is only 1 quirk skill that gets its, and its hacking, which is only available to Red Talon Contractors. Hugely disappointing, as hacking is knowledge of computers and programming and +1 outpost limit, which I guess is better because your getting another outpost on top of the upgraded outpost, but still disappointing, as it would be cool if there was a quirk that gave like knowledge of computers and some other knowledge or parts salary or something.
Pretty sure electronics is part of it but hacking is all of those listed Red talon covers 2 skills unlike normal survivors so in other words recruit red talon soldiers with every different 5th trait and you'll be set, that's what I'm trying to do
@@rainfallnineninezeroone6241 I have 9 so far didnt take me that long a few days maybe depends on how good you are on daybreak but when you recruit a soldier and they have the same skill for any soldier you already have just quit the game and go back immediately and a different soldier spawns in I recommend doing that rather than waiting 90 min for the radio that way you can get all the skills
@@rainfallnineninezeroone6241 forgot to mention to make your leader a builder so you can get 12 max population, it may suck that its kind of hard to level red talon soldiers due to the 66- minus rewards but they're are worth it and badass all the other skills are all in one
Don't forget time is also a resource. If you can spend 1 resource to gain another, it's not a waste. It all just depends on which resource is more important.
@@GitGudFox true true. but i find there is enough audio and visual cues in the game, that those seem like a superfluous waste of resources. i guess the drone strike could be useful in certain situations. but that's why i always have at least 1 stack of Molotov's on me.
I don't know about explosives. I was told that when using incendiaries you need to let the first one burn off before throwing the next because the effect doesn't stack. Bloater gas grenades on PH? How does that work? I've only ever tried to use them on humans. Though I did have an interesting result when I tried using the pyrolauncher to finish a human off while trying to fight off the effects of the gas.
Bloater gas is flammable. It explodes when ignited. The bloater gas grenades are concentrated bloater gas, and it produces an even large blast when ignited. One of the least expensive ways to remove a plague heart is using firecrackers to ignite 2 bloater cloud grenades. Sometimes it takes more due to the strange rules of explosives.
@@GitGudFox gotcha I understand now. I ignited one grenade unintentionally. That was cool. Given the number of community members I have with resourcefulness, I love it for looting especially combined with backpacking so it's 4 pockets with a 6 stack limit. So I'm going to definitely going to try this out.
@@GitGudFox I tried the bloater gas on a PH that was in the back corner of an ammo shop. Only took 1 grenade to kill it. I'm guessing it has something to do with the in game physics and the wall placement.
It has to do with difficulty I'm told. In the standard zone, the bloater gas grenades allegedly kill hearts in 1 hit. They take 2, sometimes more if the game gets janky on Nightmare Zone.
@@jamstheshapeshifter I actually found a good use drone strike will kill enemy enclave in throw the smoke grenade next to the house and wait for the boom

I just don't want them to feel they are doing Starting 3 'wrong'... the ONLY way to do that WRONG is to absolutely have a combination you hate and don't want to play at all. LOL!
@@GitGudFox I am doing it now in standard difficulty with 4 remote box mine for one juggernaut to down (not instant kill) you still need to execute it. but yeah, if you good in accuracy better use pipe bomb for the same result.

I was not able to replicate this. I was also given this tip to spread out the charges, but I could not replicate the result.
As a result, I will not advise people to use a strategy that cannot be reliably replicated and is likely subject to the janky bugginess of the game.
hello people of the internet.
And hello to you!
Have you (or anyone else) tried using drone strike destroying plague hearts on nightmare yet?
(edit) thanks once again for all your hard work on these well done instruction vids. Invaluable for even experienced players.
It does work if you can get the signal close enough to the heart even on Nightmare Zone.
Can confirm, works like a charm.
I found that the drone strike kills plague hearts too. But sometimes it doesn't kill it ,but severely wounded.
Damage can be erratic in this game.
Oh and I believe the recon drone will reveal the map like a survey car if you don't happen to have a survey car. Granted the car is better because it's always active but if you don't have one...
That is a consequence of the map already being fully revealed. I was not able to observe this effect.
Thanks for all the vids fox
No problem, thanks for watching!
Awesome vid as always Git Gud Fox. ^^
I use the recon drone to find Bloaters for the 3 bloater kill mission. Makes it so easy and fast. :)
I still have not found someone with hacking. I also wish that it let us have 7 Outposts.
You should be able to get 7 outposts with it.
Artillery strikes aren't worth it in nightmare mode, maybe on an infestation but nothing else
Artillery strikes can kill juggernauts in 1 strike, possibly a whole plague horde if aimed properly.
I never start with computers because while it's annoying to find them, it's still just +1 outpost.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Now this is what I subscribed for!
I should probably try and make these a bit faster.
Hey Fox. I'm new to SoD2 so your videos are very informative. Do you perhaps have a video where you discuss the different options of facilities to build
in bases?
If you come across c4, a little tip. Walk up to a heart, place 1 c4, phase the heart once with heavy weapon, run, and then blow c4. Heart is dead
That depends on the difficulty. It'll take 3 explosives on Lethal.
Excellent guide..
I try to do my best!
I found the videos for Gardening, Medicine, Chemistry, and Computers. Have you done any of the other 4 Community skills? Craftsmanship, Mechanics, Cooking, and Utilities. I would love to check them out
I have not done them all.
Hello Fox, can you make one the Utilities skills? I have a member that has Utilities but I'm not sure how useful he is.
I might eventually. It can be hard to decide which video to make.
I was told this as a tip, but I was not able to replicate it successfully in the game.
It works on standard and dread with one detonation but nightmare plague hearts are too tanky.
Yes I just commented the same thing, walk to the plague heart till your against it and place 1 on each side.
I tested this and could not replicate the result which is why it was not included in the video.
Computers is basically obsoleted by Red Talon Hacking. It gives Computers/Programming but also gives +1 more outposts.
Sorry 1 other missed thing mostly moot with the builder legacy. The electronics skill let's you build the solar generator facility mod.
That's true.
It's annoying because the solar power generator facility wants knowledge of electricity, but the mod wants knowledge of electronics. The terminology gets confusing.
Very nice thanks for the guide
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Great video!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah I usually end up using pipe bombs and Molotovs most of the time due to how easy they are to either find or craft. Some of the higher damage fire bombs if I have the resources to make those. I don’t think I’ve ever crafted C4.
Thoughts on hacking? I assume it would be worth it for the outpost, but would like ur opinion.
I think it's worth it. Another outpost is very strong.
as long as u dont use ur outpost for food resources.
Hello .😎 it seems u missed a 5th skill Fox 😲😜☝ Construction. Can u olz do one of these guide videos plz ur awsomeness is venerated 🙌🙏🙌🙏
I don't have time for it right now. I have like 5 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night to myself, and making the SoD2 video series takes up like 3-4 hours.
Finally computer skills video
I dragged my heels on it quite a bit.
@@GitGudFox, When is the utilities one coming out?
Boy those C4 comments changed huh
Are you planning to do the others?
I found the drone strike to not be worth it. Between the time it takes to receive the flare to call it in and the cool down between uses you could have taken care of whatever problem you were faced with in another way.
I think that is underestimating its value. With the strike, you have the convenience of destroying a plague heart, on a whim. You could discover a plague heart in your exploration and immediately remove it without any need for preparation. It's also extremely efficient in terms of resources as the investment cost is immediately recovered on kill + profit.
Git Gud Fox that’s if you have the flare on you. It takes ten minutes to be able to call it in if you don’t.
Next up, all new skill books, red talon 5th skill and red talon traits🙏🙏
I am not doing RT skills for a long time. I might die mysteriously in a car crash attempting to do it.
I think the plague hearts can survive it on Lethal Zone, but it still causes a lot of damage.
I have the SoD2 Juggernaut edition on Steam, but I dont' have the green radio calls (daybreak, independance, holiday), where can I get them?
I think going with an RT Hacker will get you programming, and that is a character worth keeping.
@@GitGudFox Unfortunately I didn't have that option yet. I recently got a couple missions from a Red Talon guy so I'm guessing I'll have access to them pretty soon.
You get them from playing the Daybreak game mode.
@@GitGudFox Ah okay. Thanks.
Thank you
For some reason when I make meds on my nightmare community, it doesn’t level up my character with the medical skill.
Git Gud Fox 🤦♂️I hate myself
I have wasted a lot of meds attempting to raise medicine through painkillers myself.
Finally
I should try to make these a bit faster.
I successfully place 3 c4 at plaguehearts to oneshot them, albait that is fabously expensive, I sneak in, place and leave then blow up. But 3 c4 are very pricy. Maybe placeing 5 remote mines will oneshot a heart too?
or 6 pipe bombs or 2 gas/molotovs
I dont know if this was in the game at the time of this vidoe but I use the drone for bounties to hunt and find specific enemies i need to kill
Is the Red Talon skill Hacking similar to Programming, Computer and Electronics Skills?
Pretty sure electronics is part of it but hacking is all of those listed Red talon covers 2 skills unlike normal survivors so in other words recruit red talon soldiers with every different 5th trait and you'll be set, that's what I'm trying to do
Lღ 's Your right but it just seems impossible to get them all due to the Survivor Cap of 10.
Can you use recon drone to scout for plague hearts?
You should be able to.
wow Mr@Git Gud Fox dam you are good i am trying to keep up thank's no hege hog please
Don't sweat it. There's no race.
I feel that the higher your fighting skill, the less hits it should take to kill the zeds.
Technically true with certain skills, like swordplay.
it's funny because i have never used the drone recon or the drone strike. I've always tried to use my senses rather then waste resources.
Does the drone strike killing a plague heart give any standing?
Sure, it's still you who is essentially "pulling the trigger" so you get the credit: both the influence and the standing.
to be honest so far the drone stryke is trash ...it wont even kill a jug
@@12345stl Neither does any pistol so I guess they're all trash now
@@jamstheshapeshifter I actually found a good use drone strike will kill enemy enclave in throw the smoke grenade next to the house and wait for the boom

Well, you want mechanics and gardening at the minimum. Those are the most vital skills.
@@GitGudFox Not to mention, there is no 'getting it wrong'. "Getting it right" is as simply as "I have 3 Starters, and they interest me". Bingo, done, nailed it, 10/10.
There IS however 'better/worse Min/Max"... which is probably more what @STORMZ UNIQUE was meaning. I just don't want them to feel they are doing Starting 3 'wrong'... the ONLY way to do that WRONG is to absolutely have a combination you hate and don't want to play at all. LOL!
Drone Strike nerf in 3... 2...

It's like juggs lose their weight and mass when they die.
Sanic the Hergehog. LOL!
I though mines don't stack damage against plague heart, but they do stack damage against zed or freak.
Some people swear they do. I have never been able to get it to work myself.
@@GitGudFox I am doing it now in standard difficulty with 4 remote box mine for one juggernaut to down (not instant kill) you still need to execute it. but yeah, if you good in accuracy better use pipe bomb for the same result.

@Git Gud Fox What do you recommend new players getting first, Programming or Electronics? If you could let me know, I'd really appreciate it...thanks!
Electronics, they let you build C4 which is devastating to plague hearts.
noboday plays daybreak :(
Because it's poorly balanced and pays out very little for the time spent.
Tbh i play like if this was RL i dont kick anyone out unless they are bad to the community
Computers are pretty useless after the command center is a level 3. So I will be getting rid of my computer girl. See ya! Good luck! Lmao 🤣 🤣
It seems you forget the Solar generator.

I'm on PC and I'll hang-out online what's your handle?
After a week of gameplay it's easy to beat game w 9 mm pistol.
Lol really wish you'd stop using the word "worth it"
Before I watched this video, I lost my electronic guy.
Overly late tl;dw - just get a Red Talon Operative with Hacking to enjoy +1 Outpost, otherwise don't bother with Computers at all.
