If properly diagnosed, I think one of the better therapeutic approaches to crippling depression is precisely taking that persistence of your thoughts to learn to face them, in a way that reminds me of what Garnt describes. Well, it was the case for me, at least.
Went from Monk to considering Domestic girlfriend a masterpiece definitely Top 10 anime plot twists lol Gigguks destiny was to become a Man of Culture.
It really was like that, I haven't been to the temple for like 8 or 6 months and once we started the praying, I instantly started crying because I realized how fucked up my head was, mentally.
My chronic pain experience of 17 years ended up giving me kind of similar life lessons because I learned to be okay with what life is exactly as it is each moment, to sortof master my mind and to kind of befriend my mind in a way that you don't see it as an enemy but as kind of company and friend, and I also ended up getting to know myself on such a deep level where if my heart rate or breathing changes even a little bit then I know how to center myself again. I find these kind of experiences and such so fascinating since I found my own path through this, very neat stuff. ^^
This may be a bit sad but other than anime, my hobby is just thinking about whatever im reading. I do this every night before bed until I fall asleep. Am I alone on this?
I was a homeless single mom with no friends because I cut off the toxic people and the rest didn’t want to be around a young mom with a kid. I sat with no phone, tv, books... I had nothing. Slowly I got my life, an apt, a flip phone, books (manga)... it was a longgggg 3 years. That was the closest I’ve ever been to being a monk.
There is a manga "temple" about a man with stigma of his father being a player so he want to be a monk to be a great and respectable man unlike his father. It was created by the same creator of "grand Blue" even though its a 2 man team but "temple" is his own works. I like to imagine that MC is Garnt.
I had a somewhat similar experience but. Or with monks. I just decided for a 4 month period I’d only eat 1 meal a day from wherever I got one or was given one by family, I slept on a flat couch for 3 months, had one thin pillow and blanket, drank like 2 cups of coffee a day, just took classes at school and did so much art and talked with friends, thought to myself a lot, had a bit of quiet time, slept from 10:30 to 6:30 every night, wrote down stuff, got off social media for a while, quit playing video games for a while too, didn’t get online a whole lot unless I was listening to music and thinking to myself. I admit this was nothing like Garnt experienced but I do remember this point in my life a lot and how it helped me with losing weight, thinking to myself more and having my own thoughts about life and how I wanted to pursue it, more time to practice my technique in art, and it brought my mental health to a better place and even my acne went away. I was between 16 and 17 at the time but I do remember this experience well and it helped a lot. It was an experience I want to try again because it felt good and refreshing and made me appreciate the life I have.

If properly diagnosed, I think one of the better therapeutic approaches to crippling depression is precisely taking that persistence of your thoughts to learn to face them, in a way that reminds me of what Garnt describes. Well, it was the case for me, at least.
I love how enthralled Joey and Connie were in his story
Let's all be honest with ourselves : Garnt started to enjoy trashy animes After he became a monk didn't he?
that's what enlightenment is all about dude
resetting your taste
He erased the outside distraction.
Garnt went from enlightened in life to enlightened in culture
He had to remove all the hentai thoughts in his mind
(to make room for new ones)
Went from Monk to considering Domestic girlfriend a masterpiece definitely Top 10 anime plot twists lol Gigguks destiny was to become a Man of Culture.
I feel like I need to make a joke, but it would be disrespectful.
And that says alot being on the internet and on an anime channel...?
I have never become a monk(yet) so hearing Gigguk talk about his expierience this is pretty cool.
My boy went from monk to a waifu-loving M O N K E.
I commented on ep 5 that Gigguk is suprisingly a well rounded person. Now it all makes sense lol.
I remember reading that comment lol
A British chess prodigy, a Buddhist monk, and an Australian walk into a bar...
Monk to a person that a cult is after
Lmao everyone's pissed
What?
I do it to, although I’m a maladaptive day dreamer
While I like reading/watching something boring I like to think "If the whole imperium navy fleet warped in what would happen"
I used to do that
I was a homeless single mom with no friends because I cut off the toxic people and the rest didn’t want to be around a young mom with a kid. I sat with no phone, tv, books... I had nothing. Slowly I got my life, an apt, a flip phone, books (manga)... it was a longgggg 3 years. That was the closest I’ve ever been to being a monk.
Ok...
Monk beats Monke
Yo where your friend Buddha at?
Connor: Monke
Garnt: Monk
Joey: *E*
There is a manga "temple" about a man with stigma of his father being a player so he want to be a monk to be a great and respectable man unlike his father. It was created by the same creator of "grand Blue" even though its a 2 man team but "temple" is his own works. I like to imagine that MC is Garnt.
2 years later, it got anime adaptation.
Oh hell yeah I would love to see a monk episode, I really love what you guys are doing on this channel and I appreciate it a lot!
Am I the only one who was expecting Gigguk to be a shaolin monk
That would be weird, but there is a youtuber who used to be a shaolin warrior monk

I always thought Garnt’s name was very unusual. But now that I know he’s Thai, I read his name in Thai accent, กานต์. It makes sense now.🤣
How do you write his real name in Thai (Garnt Maneetapho)? Just curious.
@@theobuniel9643 Judging from the English spelling, I think Garnt is spelled กานต์. I'm not sure about his last name though. Even if I hear it pronounced I still can't be sure. Many Thai lastname is hard to spell even to native speaker.
as an Zen Buddhist i am glad to see Garnt clearly learned from his time as an monk.
This is the best slice of life anime ever.
Garnt truly achieved enlightenment after monk training.
