A Vietnamese car forum once had a thread where the OP asked what everyone would put in their trunks in case shits go down. Most of the answers are what you'd expect: chains, bats, batons, pans, etc. The most upvoted answer is: running shoes. 😂 Everyone loses in a street fight, so keeping calm and remaining courteous are the way.

They take a photo of you passport when you getting a sim card because of a new law in Thailand that if you wanna purchase a sim card you have to show your ID card to buy it. They prevent some sketchy people to buy a multiple sim to scam another people and make it easy to track down who purchases it. And for foreigners who don't have Thai ID they have to take a photo of your passport that's why.

I feel like Bangkok isn't actually the best tourist destination in Thailand even though it is the most popular. It's just a bunch of temples which are boring, but maybe it's because I've been in Bangkok all my life.

this vid is so relatable, when i went back to vietnam to visit my family, even when my family was being really careful we still got scammed a couple of times (not as bad as connor bc we're viet and look viet), and one time me and my mother were taking a taxi home and they gave a price that was clearly a 50% markup, but i didnt say anything bc well, 2 women stuck in a car with a grown ass man trying to scam us is a recipe for disaster, so i just paid the dude and got home safely.
P.S. Do Not visit seafood markets, they'll scam you to hell and back. Rigged scales, they bound the seafood with rubber bands so you cant tell if theyre alive or dead, or they deadass pretend you havent paid them when you already did. Not even mentioning the chemicals they could've dumped on the dried seafood, so just stick to buying from trusted sources (lets hope ur relatives know a place)

The meter only cab does not work. In Bucharest, even in the airport for example, they will take you to their own cabs that are in on it. And the meters are controlled by a stick like those you use on the wheel to announce direction change. In ANY cabs in the world, except some in Scandinavia like Norway or Denmark, TAKE...THE...BUS. Your likelihood of being scammed is 90% less. Though you have to know how to navigate the buses.

The motorcycle thing, they are still annoying af, but the laws are stricter now around Manila. If you do go to areas outside Manila (like in other provinces), oh boy, you'd see the classic no helmet/3 people riding/with kids and infants in between thing.
