"I am by no means an expert archer but if there is anything I got experience in is buying stuff for archery" - I can sooo relate to that statement lol.
And why.....because the infos about the stuff is rough.....ever seen a length fpr the plate or the leather, no wight, nothing...... poor! but i think thats what the companys want...buy staff and even more stuff.....sad but true
Nicely done. It is nice to see an important aspect, usually ignored, of archery brought up. In 1954 I was 5 years old and fell in love with REAL archery offered as a class in a day camp. Day 1 was strictly the bow. We had decent finger tabs, a set of military strict instructors, and a culling of idiots. Never-ever draw then release the string in any manner without an arrow. The first batch of clowns were ejected from the class. That was fine since these were the usual jokers and bullies. When we found and practiced drawing comfortably with 10-12 lb bows, our tabs were marked then given to us for keeps. Over the years I've settled on my favorite. The Saunders Pak-Tab is inexpensive but can be modified to suit most archers... if one gets the right size. A regional-national champion "bare-bow-fingers" shooter with compound bows mentored me when I came back into archery after a 39 year hiatus. The plastic pad portion contacting the string serving is replace by a cut-to-fit piece of stiff felt. I rub in a bit of silicon. The finger hole on the back of these tabs fits my hand perfectly. I'm very happy with it for both my Yank longbow...with slight sneaky "micro-recurved" tips and my new Samick Mind-50. Well, I'm a sucker-infoholic for history so I got "The Way of Archery" by Tian & Ma. I have heard of the Cavalier being used by local FITA archers. It is tempting to try it. Sorry about the long-windedness... Again, thanks a bunch for your helpful vids.
Make sure that the back of your hand is flat -- no knuckles should be showing. That is the only part of the hand that should be tense. Bending the wrist outwards can help get the right tension. Practise it by lifting shopping bags (or any bags).

I had a feather fletching lodge itself into my hand and draw blood after shooting a 40lb. longbow. I now wear gloves. Just started my archery journey. Great hobby.
Really like your vids. Our local club cuts pieces of foam for really young kids having a single go. They are great because they don't need to last, just protect their fingers. Arm guard...I worship those. I twist without realising it and get bruised more often than not. Thanks for the cool info. :)
He is absolutely correct, I went to a sight of a popular Survival bow company and just happen to speak to the owner(people may be lined up to buy bows but not necessarily survival ones) but these type bows are more intuitive the kind you'd think would be shot with your fingers and they are, yet when I started talking about broad heads and other "cool" equipment he said hey hold on the first thing you need is a Tab and a forearm protector he said the same exact thing you can hurt your fingers cause nerve damage (and Coming from a person who has extremely severe neuropathy you do not want that- At All !), oh and he also said getting slapped with the string without a guard hurts like hell ! So just listen to this guy, take care!
Hey NUSensei, I really enjoy your videos. I recently came back to archery after more than 15 years. Shooting the old compound I used as a kid wasn't working so well as the draw was too short and the weight was much too light. So I bought a 45lb recurve. They sold me a surprisingly nice tab with the bow, I think it's a Bateman with finger spacer and hair face. I've been shooting for a month now at least 20 minutes per day and it still looks like new. But I could not get a really consistent shot and felt that my release was lacking control. I saw this video and it gave me some great direction in shopping for a tab. I purchased the AAE Elite with a hair face, and using it for the first time today I noticed significant improvement in release control. I've been shooting at 20 - 30 yards for the last two weeks and at 30 I could get a full quiver into the target but there was no semblance of accuracy. This AAE just feels so smooth on the release and protects my fingers so well I am much more comfortable holding and aiming my shot. I've taken my scattered, all over the target shooting, to a relatively small 15" group! That is amazing to me. I will probably keep shooting instinctive for 3 months or so before moving on to using a sight. Initially my lack of grouping was making me think I would need to make the investment sooner rather than later, but now I think I will be quite comfortable for a while without one. Thanks!
As a beginner archer a can recommend that you use the same tab every time in the beginning, especially if you are shooting at short distances and holding the string under the arrow. Borrowing from your club can work if you can get the same tab every time, which may not be the case depending on the practises on your club. Having your own tab will help you to be more consistent in were you hold the string.
The band for the KSL tab between the first and second finger goes underneath the spacer. There is a slot under the spacer for it though you will need to unscrew the spacer first
Hi Nu, your videos are awseome, I can see that you are a teacher 24/7. I want to ask you if is some rule between the size of your hand and the sizes available of tabs.... for example, same size of tab than your normal gloves.... or you need to try a couple of models an sizes... thanks for everything.
+Ariel Emiliani in motorbike gloves, I am Mens SMALL. In SF Archery Elite Plus TAB, I am Large. I just ordered the ``FIVE-VICS`` POLITE 3-finger TAB earlier this week in MEDIUM because that was all that was remaining for sale in LeftHANDeD [they're discontinued], so I hope Medium in the Fivics BRAND will be Okay
Have been slinging arrows for only 3 months... Here's my 2 pence worth. The correct arrows and the right finger tab (just switched to one with a palm plate that fits, and it's improved my consistency by 50%) make an incredible difference. Do I still hit the blue from time to time, sure. But when I get all of the other parts of the shot process correct, the right tools for the job make sure I'm in the gold or thereabouts :-)
Is the super leather face on the AAE caviler good and protects the fingers, because I was looking into finger tabs and came across this and wanted to get that tab but at my local shop the guy told me not to get a super leather face but get a cordovan tab but the cordovan face was $60 and my parents didn't want to spend that much money but the shop had one for much cheaper and said I should get that but to me it didn't seem very good
the string lined against the plate.. is that a thing? or is there a difference? i find myself typically hooking at the tip of my fingers or at the first knuckle.. but with fingertabs is thats why the plate is there? should i just line it with the plate? more reference points for a consistence shot the better right? but doesnt that mean you should always shoot with a deep hook? or maybe im just over thinking it. doesnt matter as long as you got everything in place.
Interesting, I had my first 'taster' session at a local archery range last weekend, while they provided me with an arm guard at no point did they mention anything about finger tab's, I wish they had as only after an hour I had a big sore blister on my middle finger and it was getting very painful toward the end of the session. I've bought a tab since and will definitely be using it for practice and at the coming beginner lessons in September :)
I tried out archery with my neighbour's 20lbs bow without protection, thinking my skin (which is harder than many people, after years of working with hand tools) can take on such light bow. And after like 30 shots I had to stop because my fingers hurt so bad, and then they went on to feel numb for nearly a week. I recently made one from leather I cut from an old boot (the rest of it became my armguard), and it already feel so much better. Use protections, everyone!
I have my KSL Gold brass for 5-6 months, it's brilliant, I swap between two so I can prolong the life. I would say the cordovan material is best over the leather but it's purely personal choice.
Something to think about with tabs is how easy it is to do other things without having to take off the tab. When i am on the line and just finished a set i can just let my tab hand and pull arrows easily. When i want to load one my tab will just hang off my finger and allow me to load a arrow without the tab in the way of my fingers. That isnt something most people think about when getting a new tab.
If you do.. Can you do some videos on form because i shoot a 50# recurve and i'm at about a intermediate skill level but my drawing shoulder hurts after shooting and i believe it has to do with my form.
+NUSensei, you mention that the AAE Elite is designed for a deep hook, to have the string up against the metal. This seems too deep, no? I would guess that you should have the same hook regardless of tab (~near first knuckle).
i made two different types of finger tabs because i had a cheap one it does not have a brand name. the problem i face with the earlier finger tab: the hard metal causes abrasion on my cheek. is this normal or some correction in the pull is required ? i have just started archery and at present pull a 30 pound bamboo bow with wooden riser.
Didn't knew that a good finger tab is important. I've been using a cheap Cartel Pro-1 finger tab up until now. I guess I better put off my plans on buying a new quiver and invest in a decent finger tab.
It's a matter of preference. Traditional archers and hunters prefer gloves, which are handy because you've always got it on. Target shooters universally use tabs. Their design typically offers better protection and a smoother surface, lessening the chances of a fouled shot.
Advice any how to keep your wrist or fist in proper form --bent-curve/ slight turn -right upright?, should the elbow be slightly bent not lock right, I am a right hander using a 50 lb spectre bow- survival ( I think made a mistake for my first bow) should of got the recurve bow intead but its alright.
So sick, I can't imagine anything more boring than archery, I've never fired one, yet I feel myself watching more and more of your instructional videos,... just because :D It's very relaxing and I feel like I get smarter and smater, to the point where I think "if someone ever asked me to shoot an arrow I'd know what to do !". Other reviewers/instructors in all fields could take much inspiration from your approach.
They do slow the string down. They're useful for club bows, but for your own bow, I wouldn't recommend them. Check out the video I made on them here: th-cam.com/video/oVd-mZXDs4M/w-d-xo.html
good video , bur you missed the Soma Saker 1 and 2 Tab i use them both and bets tab i tried , even tried the aae kisik lee tab.. feels to strange for me.. :)
For the more adventurous, you can get leather, and try your hand at making your own. A vegetable tanned single shoulder will run you about 50USD, and give you enough material to make ~20 tabs.
+Pedro Pillado every hand is different, where it comes to ``Comfort``. Thank you for your comment - - it may well be helpful for somebody else indeed ! yay!
Hi NUSensei, great work on your videos! Thank you! I bought the AAE gold KSL tab, to replace my soma bjd, and now all my shots are higher than they were with the soma tab. Do you think it is related to the weight of the tab pulling my hand down? It doesn't seem natural to shoot with it, what else could be wrong? do you have any suggestions? Also the leather on the tab is very stiff, how can I soften it a bit so I can "feel" the string as I did on the previous worn tab? Thank you for your time!
The leather will soften over time. As you use it more, it will naturally curl the way your fingers go over the string, to the point where it'll become too soft. If your arrows are going higher, it's likely that you're anchoring lower than you normally do, possibly because you're not used to the new tab yet. Make sure you use a consistent anchor point.
NUSensei I know it will soften with use ( that's why I replaced the soma, it was too soft ) I heard if you put alcohol it can soften faster, that way you dont have to shoot lots of arrows in order to be at the right sensivity. Maybe I got used to a very very worn tab, and I think I need to feel the string more. Anyway I'll remove the top shelf to see if I can lower the shot, Since I'm not used to shoot without a shelf, where should my thumb be? curled and almost touching the pinky? Thanks!
Some people touch thumb to pinky, but it's not a common method for target shooters and more common for traditional speed-shooters. The thumb should be tucked in tightly under the jaw.
I got a really shit one with my bow package, I don't even know how to put it on actually. I end up just sitting it in my palm. Figure I'll buy a release aid, what's your opinion on release aids? I feel like there would be less chance my fingers are going to move the string when I'm trying to release? Also I find my arm guard doesn't cover enough of my arm, I seem to get hit on my upper arm behind the elbow, in-between my bicep/elbow as opposed to in-front of my elbow on the forearm. Do you have any suggestions for good arm guards that cover more than just the forearm? FYI, new to archery, no idea what I'm doing just learning as I go. Already found out my compound bow will easily shoot right through the walls in my house lol, in one side out the other.
If you're shooting a compound bow, a release aid is the norm. Release aids do away with the inconsistencies of a finger release, and having that consistency is kind of the point of a compound bow. If you're hitting your upper arm, your form needs work. Make sure your shoulders are relaxed and even, and your elbow is rotated outwards to give the string clearance. People often hit themselves leaning backwards and hyperextending their elbows. You need to address this rather than getting bigger arm guards.
Thanks mate, I found I had my arm too straight, I didn't know I was supposed to be bending it slightly. Started consistently hitting 30cm x 30cm target from 20 meters away :P Can't wait to try more now. I think I'm instantly hooked, thanks to your guidance :)
Yeah I thoroughly agree. No it is not a custom. It is however a good all round bow.Yeah rich folk would dismiss them as crap .The average guy or girl on a budget can get into archery easily.Although I have many bows ,sage bows will allow most folk to do archery and enjoy a life time of fun.
Hi NuSensei, when im using fingertabs, it always touch the arrow when release and make arrow vibrate horizontally (im 1 finger above and 2 finger under style, using AAE Cavalier Super Leather Elite tab), is it my release wrong or i need a larger fingertab? Im considering change to a glove to avoid this...
Gloves are often more difficult to prevent from pinching because they are generally more padded (depending on the fit). You should look at where on the fingers the string is placed, spread your fingers out more, or examine if your finger placement twists the string as you anchor. If your bow is too short, arrow pinch is also inevitable.
Thank you for your response! im using 62'' take down while my draw length is approx 27.4'', i guess i should trim down my finger tab a little and see if this helps
I'm a beginner/intermediate archer, but I have a problem with my fingertab when using it I struggle reaching a proper anchor position. Would you happen to have any advice?
Remember to keep your head still and draw to the anchor rather than moving into. Keep the anchor "tight" - there should be firm contact between the finger and the jaw (or cheek). The hook and anchor should feel "strong".
I'm have been doing archery for two months and my mentor said that in competition standard, I use a recurve bow and I always hit the bullseye and I broke the feather on another arrow by hitting it, should I consider getting my own bow?
It can happen, especially with leather, but tends to happen more with cheap tabs and higher draw weights. It may also happen more often if you're using an oversized tab, which can be aggravated with an incorrect hook.
GET A THICK TAB before you hurt yourself. My middle finger went numb! My class got us the basic "fur lined" tabs, and they worked great for a couple months of twice-a-week shooting, until I tried shooting for an hour a day three days in a row. My fingers felt fine, and then BAM, middle finger just went out. A week of no shooting and it's almost better, but still feels funny.
NUSensei Hey NuSensei, do you agree that a high quality tab can give you a slightly better release than a shooting glove? That's why most target archers use tabs I assume? I'm a traditional archery, but I like tab better myself.
Finger tabs usually provide more protection by being thicker, can offer a smoother surface to release from, and is more convenient on the range because it can be easily removed.
I've covered them in my "No-Glove" review. The problem is that they actually do get in the way. The one-size-fits-all concept doesn't allow for a deep hook and it is more difficult to achieve a clean release. Additionally, they slow the string because of the added weight. They're useful for high-traffic clubs and ranges with lots of beginners, but most clubs will introduce beginners to finger tabs right away.
What do you think about fingertabs without "stiff Plates" (I have no idea how to say that better I'm not a native speaker). I use a Leather Tab made by elToro, and it feels more natural to me than the ones tht have metal/plastic backplates. P.S. This is what I mean: www.rielex.at/getImage.aspx?name=6101ebfe-85ce-47a0-9b37-218417ce6225elTORO_Ledertab_Kalbshaar.jpg&hoehe=700
The simplest ones are often the best ones. Many archers have a preference for a tab that does not force their hand to conform to a particular shape, as it can add unnecessary tension in the wrong places.

If an all leather tab was simply smaller, only had a single gap instead of 2, and had better leather, wouldn't that solve most of the problems you had with it?
While that's true, that's pretty useless info for a beginner shooter. Nu Sensei talks about this in another video. I'm just starting out, and I've already been to the range with 4 or 5 different friends of mine. While most of them either provided me arm guards or cautioned me to wear sleeves, I have a couple cowboy friends who insist "the only way to learn is through pain", as if wearing an arm guard would make me laugh and shrug off every bad shot I make. I'm currently learning my form, and I genuinely want to get it right. I'm putting a lot of concentration into getting it right, and making it so that string slaps never happen. But in the meantime, I'm wearing an arm guard. It's not like the pain will magically help me identify what I'm doing wrong with my shot. It's far MORE likely to distract me from my form due to fear of getting hit.
when i bought my first bow i was like “no i dont need that”…i changed my opinion during my first lesson….my fingers hurt that much that i couldnt even shoot anymore
My best advice would be to take it to an archery store to get it measured. The "length" of a string is actually the length of the bow (e.g. a 68" bowstring is meant for a 68" bow; the string itself isn't 68"). However, traditional longbows don't necessarily follow standard sizing. I can't offer much more help than that.
May I just ask, why don't Olympians use gloves? I prefer gloves when I'm shooting traditional, but I use my tab when I'm at the range, but I would much rather use a glove.
when i first got my compound i shot with fingers no tab , after a few day of shooting through some pain i got some thick calouses and and my fingers stopped hurting
That’s a lot of money for a piece of leather isn’t it. As an art and design student, I feel like this is something I could make at home, probably not as good quality but good enough to protect my fingers
Pat's Archery in SA stocks it. As for the tab, nothing looks wrong with it. It's design is similar to the Fivics Saker tab and some of the SF tabs. Decut, I believe, is a Chinese company that makes cheaper budget versions of archery accessories.
Thax for the info bro...I think it's best for me to stick with these mid price range accessories. I have a lot of things to do and one of them is saving up for my 1st car...I'll stick with my wooden recurve for god knows how long, taking archery as a hobby, after I get my car...I'll prob spend around 1k5 or more for my bow ( sf riser + carbon limbs, plunger, arrow rest etc). So yea..its best if I just learn things n play around 1st..
I spent two hours practising without a tab, and while I did get used to the numbing of my fingers..the days after suck far too much, even with only 25lbs draw, lol. Ha ha, I have Abbey tabbed..
i can't use finger taps.. they feel annoying.. and take my concentration away, I've been shooting barehanded for many years , i don't even feel he string anymore.. :/ ..
i'm slowly trying to get used to the gloves since I was told I could cause myself nerve damage drawing the weight on my fingers like that.. so yeah.. need to protect my fingers slowly getting there.. but my aim is way off with the glove but I guess just different feel to get used too..
"I am by no means an expert archer but if there is anything I got experience in is buying stuff for archery" - I can sooo relate to that statement lol.

actually scrolled down to say this, so +1 for blue loctite m8
There are nuts made oval like that called Stover nuts.
I would start with just a drop before I sealed the whole thing, but Loctite is great!

Hi NUSensei, what's the difference between cordovan, super leather, and hair face for finger tabs ?
Just speaking from limited experience, cordovan tends to be smoother, super leather tends to be thicker, and hair face is softer.
is there a cat in the background? lol my cat is scrambling around looking for the cat shes hearing
luckily my cat wasn't at home.
No it's the swivel on his chair.
It needs some oil.
Rikka icon, cute :3
Thank you. I've been using several types as well.

The tab that I use is the Fivics Soma Saker 1 tab. I recommend it or its cousin the Saker 2 tab.

Both cordovan and super leather are good. Cordovan is smoother, which may be why it is recommended, but budget is also a determining factor.
thanks dude , that was useful for me. i just bought a w&w cordovan & its real good. keep telling about stuffs specially about the sights.

I'm working on making an all leather finger tab that uses an adjustable shock cord. What is the diameter of the shock cord used on the AAE Cavalier?

I have my KSL Gold brass for 5-6 months, it's brilliant, I swap between two so I can prolong the life. I would say the cordovan material is best over the leather but it's purely personal choice.
Thanks for the video. Was looking for some knowledge on the subject of tabs.
Also nice Mortal Kombat tie-in :P
Something to think about with tabs is how easy it is to do other things without having to take off the tab. When i am on the line and just finished a set i can just let my tab hand and pull arrows easily. When i want to load one my tab will just hang off my finger and allow me to load a arrow without the tab in the way of my fingers. That isnt something most people think about when getting a new tab.
+Jerry Conn thanx for sharing this info. :-) {every bit helps}
I use a archery glove, are they worse
It's a matter of preference. Traditional archers and hunters prefer gloves, which are handy because you've always got it on. Target shooters universally use tabs. Their design typically offers better protection and a smoother surface, lessening the chances of a fouled shot.
Thanks mate, helped.
Advice any how to keep your wrist or fist in proper form --bent-curve/ slight turn -right upright?,
should the elbow be slightly bent not lock right, I am a right hander using a 50 lb spectre bow- survival ( I think made a mistake for my first bow) should of got the recurve bow intead but its alright.
I bought cheap gloves, then I glued some good leather pads on the fingers. For me it works like a charm
Bear Paw does some good all weather gloves with reinforced fingertips on both hands
Think I’ll probably do this, over $50 seems excessive for a piece of leather
So sick, I can't imagine anything more boring than archery, I've never fired one, yet I feel myself watching more and more of your instructional videos,... just because :D It's very relaxing and I feel like I get smarter and smater, to the point where I think "if someone ever asked me to shoot an arrow I'd know what to do !". Other reviewers/instructors in all fields could take much inspiration from your approach.
+David Larsen Archery isnt boring. Its fun once you learn how to shoot. But some people dont like archery cuz they cant do nothing. lol.
+David Larsen ty for sharing. you share a good comment :-)
Is there any noticeable downside to getting the finger savers that go over the string like what you quickly bring up in the beginning just mentioning?
They do slow the string down. They're useful for club bows, but for your own bow, I wouldn't recommend them. Check out the video I made on them here: th-cam.com/video/oVd-mZXDs4M/w-d-xo.html
Danke für deine tollen Videos
Die sind echt super!
Martin Resch Willkommen!
good video , bur you missed the Soma Saker 1 and 2 Tab i use them both and bets tab i tried , even tried the aae kisik lee tab.. feels to strange for me.. :)
For the more adventurous, you can get leather, and try your hand at making your own. A vegetable tanned single shoulder will run you about 50USD, and give you enough material to make ~20 tabs.
For me the best ones are the starters plastic tabs. Very light and simple, but the most comfortable for me!
+Pedro Pillado every hand is different, where it comes to ``Comfort``.
Thank you for your comment - - it may well be helpful for somebody else indeed ! yay!
Thanks for the review of the Black Widow Tab :D
How about Kantpinch Tabs with Corafam face ? any good ? Thanks david
I’m beginner archer , I wonder why i shoot using tab the arrow go left but using gloves has better accurate.
NUSensei thanks I hope I can get used to the size and weight of the KSL, will remove the shelf and see what happens.
I think I'm instantly hooked, thanks to your guidance :)
hello i planed to buy a backward qiver easton am i gona buy left or right im drawing im puting my left hand in to my bow
Field Quiver, RH.
replace the nut on the win&win tab with a nyloc nut - that should solve the problem
or blue thread loc
Yeah I thoroughly agree. No it is not a custom. It is however a good all round bow.Yeah rich folk would dismiss them as crap .The average guy or girl on a budget can get into archery easily.Although I have many bows ,sage bows will allow most folk to do archery and enjoy a life time of fun.
My finger tab is touching my arrow, causing the arrow to fall off. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you for showing me how to use this strange piece of leather
What's a ledge?
7:01 is that a cat? make a video with him\her :D
It's my squeaky chair.
sounds like a cat... .-.
I laugh so hard at the answer LOL
I am having compound bow and now I am taking recurve
Could you do a follow through video please? i really wanna do that twirly thing lol
I am surprised that you did not include gloves in your comparison.
As a tab comparison, gloves don't really fit in. For a comparison between gloves and tabs, see this video: th-cam.com/video/wDqZAl5GIFg/w-d-xo.html
NUSensei thanks I'll try that out tomorrow
I'm have been doing archery for two months and my mentor said that in competition standard, I use a recurve bow and I always hit the bullseye and I broke the feather on another arrow by hitting it, should I consider getting my own bow?
If you want a bow, get one.
+NUSensei I have one now
What's the thing on your chest for?
It's a chest guard. It's used to flatten loose clothing so the string doesn't catch anything when released.
Ah, thank you. I'm so completely new to this, haha.
cool man keep up the good job. i really like it...
How about SF finger tab? What do you think about it
They're quite good.
However, my SF finger tab leather either increased it's length or tear at the part where I have rest my string when I pull my bow. Is it common?
It can happen, especially with leather, but tends to happen more with cheap tabs and higher draw weights. It may also happen more often if you're using an oversized tab, which can be aggravated with an incorrect hook.
GET A THICK TAB before you hurt yourself. My middle finger went numb!
My class got us the basic "fur lined" tabs, and they worked great for a couple months of twice-a-week shooting, until I tried shooting for an hour a day three days in a row. My fingers felt fine, and then BAM, middle finger just went out.
A week of no shooting and it's almost better, but still feels funny.
David W I don't like thick tabs because I cant feel the string which effects my shooting.
Really useful, thanks.
Where do you buy the win and win tab
Joseph Crawford I bought mine off Abbey Archery, but it should be widely available.
Thanks
Excellent Video thanks
Nusensai can I use a glove for finger protection
Joakim Domingo Yes, you can.
NUSensei Hey NuSensei, do you agree that a high quality tab can give you a slightly better release than a shooting glove?
That's why most target archers use tabs I assume?
I'm a traditional archery, but I like tab better myself.
Why tabs vs gloves?
what is the advantage of using a fingertab instead of a glove?
Finger tabs usually provide more protection by being thicker, can offer a smoother surface to release from, and is more convenient on the range because it can be easily removed.
+NUSensei Thank you for the response. The flexibility of a glove is still very tempting to me though. I may still need to think this through.
why doesnt anyone use these gummy things on the string, they are really cool because they dont get in your way.

If an all leather tab was simply smaller, only had a single gap instead of 2, and had better leather, wouldn't that solve most of the problems you had with it?
do you live in South Africa ? you kind of have a south african accent ;)
kauaBUunga he’s Australian I believe. There’s some similarity between the accents but they’re quite different
If you get string slaps then you aren't shooting the bow correctly. Your arm should never be in the way of the string.
LNG Varck Absolutely correct. I hate sleeves because I prefer to know to get the sting, it helps tell me I've messed up.
LNG Varck also its more like gripping it incorrectly because your fingers should be loose
+James Gardner you make the best point of all ! ! ! ! ! ! ! That key word is, ``beginner`` ! ! ! ! ! !
+James Gardner & ``distract``, without providing identifying cues
what country do you live in
when i bought my first bow i was like “no i dont need that”…i changed my opinion during my first lesson….my fingers hurt that much that i couldnt even shoot anymore
Well. It's been many years, and I'm here to say that my cavalier elite from 2009 is still my only finger tab today 😂😅 so, yes, it lasts forever
so then you would prefer a tab over a glove?
A tab is practically universally used for target archery. Gloves tend to be used more often by field archers.
NUSensei hi.i need a bit of help,I obtained traditional longbow, but without strings.how do i know what length to get?
My best advice would be to take it to an archery store to get it measured. The "length" of a string is actually the length of the bow (e.g. a 68" bowstring is meant for a 68" bow; the string itself isn't 68"). However, traditional longbows don't necessarily follow standard sizing. I can't offer much more help than that.
devilsmessanger an accepted rule of thumb is 3 inches less than the nock to nock length of the longbow
only 3 inches?wouldn't it be too 'loose'?
it is like shooting a compound bow without a release
May I just ask, why don't Olympians use gloves? I prefer gloves when I'm shooting traditional, but I use my tab when I'm at the range, but I would much rather use a glove.
Video answer: th-cam.com/video/wDqZAl5GIFg/w-d-xo.html
NUSensei thank you!
when i first got my compound i shot with fingers no tab , after a few day of shooting through some pain i got some thick calouses and and my fingers stopped hurting
Mine doesn't have a split in it.....
It's for a 3 fingers below the arrow grip. It's preferable IMO if that's the grip you use.
Great vid mate. Thanks
Thank this was excellent. Thank very much.
Very informative, thank you
Sports tape used in archery
I do enjoy your videos and I've found them very useful but put some oil on that chair :)
+Colin Paulyn . . . I like it, it creates ``charactor`` lol ;-)
That’s a lot of money for a piece of leather isn’t it. As an art and design student, I feel like this is something I could make at home, probably not as good quality but good enough to protect my fingers
personally i prefer one with some sort of hair (mole, Cav) on it rather than leather
I use the aae cavalier elite, personally i like the size and thickness of he leather as you mentioned but the finger spacer is god awful.
how do you use a shooting tab?????????
not how to shoot.
Decut Archery RUGBII Leather Finger Tab
what draw wheight does your bow have?
45
+SassyMustang1980 thats a lot off wheight in the fingers. thats impressive.
i'm slowly trying to get used to the gloves since I was told I could cause myself nerve damage drawing the weight on my fingers like that.. so yeah.. need to protect my fingers slowly getting there.. but my aim is way off with the glove but I guess just different feel to get used too..
+SassyMustang1980 i have shot with glove and barebow for 5 years no problem. now switching to tap and recurve.
