It is 200 years after the Great War and Fallout 4 still looks devastated. We want to revive that landscape and make it fertile again. We compare our Fallout 4 Revived Mod Pack with Vanilla Fallout. How do you like it? The Mod Pack is based on the mod Commonweatlh Conifers Redux. A full list of mods can be found below. All versions were played using maximum graphics settings.

Vanilla looks wasteland but with mod it looks like skyrim.

after 200 years The mod is actually more realistic. After 200 years everywhere would be trees and grass.
after 200 years... you would know a fucking shit because Global nuclear warfare & radiation poisoning has nothing to do with a isolated conflict on chernobil...
Chernobil its how it is because a lot of flora and fauna come from other places... (animals that isnt all their lives on the territory living and getting radiation poisoning) like birds, fish, or other animals... seeds that come miles away from a "clear zone" and that finally grows over there... (and not a specie that have been affected by radiation during multiple life cicles)
So please... NO, stop pretending be a radiation poisoning expert... Its like compare "How much temperature does the ocean increase by a submarine explosion" with " "How much temperature does the ocean increase by exploding the largest underwater volcano on the planet"...

yeah, because TES have robots, mutants, modern buildings, radiation, needs, controllabe characters with voices, factories, the same character progression system, cool radio witch old real music to listen, factions that change the course of the campaign and a very good craft system with a lot of freedom to build things. Are the same game, really!
and of course, TES have greys too!!!!!

I personally prefer the lush green environment. After two hundred years of the bombs dropping foliage would grow back. It almost gives a Last of Us feel, which I love very much.

I can't stand playing Fallout without green grass and trees. Radiation actually has very little to do with effecting plant growth, so it makes no sense that there wouldn't be green flora in Boston. This was actually something that pissed me off so much that I almost didn't want to play Fallout, then I found these mods.
With New Vegas desserts made sense. I think Bethesda kept desserts in Fo4 because they knew consoles wouldn't be able to handle that much flora.
Pretty sure the vegetation was mostly removed because of the explosion and not the radiation. But it does look a lot nicer.

Not after hundreds of years. Especially considering that a lot of nuclear bombs going off could melt the polar ice caps.
Melting polar ice caps = Lots of water and heat (humidity) = lots of plants and insects = everywhere would be a jungle. Global warming would actually be very beneficial to life on earth.
Unless we were still in semi or full nuclear winter phase, which would make sense if it snowed in Fallout or if even ONE character mentioned that it was "chilly" or "too cold for plants to grow."
But then you're running around in your underwear and there's only 1 winter clothing available so, that's not true.

Fallout 4 graphics are old for it's time. Not bad, just old.
Thank god it can be fixed with mods otherwise it would be unbearable

I love this mod. It looks gorgeous, and most importantly, legit. Everything "fits", you know? It doesn't look completely out of place.

The mod looks great, would have been nice to have an FPS counter included also so we could see the hit on performance
FPS counter wasn't possible due to frame-lock, sorry. I tried first, but it stayed at 60, didn't make sense. Unlocking the frame rate made the game unstable.
Candyland Oh yes I forgot about the Fallout 4 engine and how the game speeds up the higher your FPS goes, no worries.
I would just lock it to 60fps. Unlocking causes so much bugs in the games engine and talk about flying killer cars, Fall threw the ground. Many other game ending bugs come out when fps us uncapped.I find you don't get so many bugs on 75-85fps but you do get some but not all. I think higher then that causes worse bugs. I tested that out.
Is it just me, or does FO4 look more like Metro with these graphics?

There are a lot of different mods, not just one.
Gonna be honest but if devs at bethesda wanted to make fallout look like the vid it would look much better.
This is easily one of my favorite games and the DLC is fun!
Grasslands is a joke on Xbox there are literally 3 pieces of grass on the whole map.

I actually prefer the look and feel of the vanilla wasteland. Even if it’s unrealistic for no greenery to come back after 200+ years, I just like it from an aesthetic standpoint. It just fits the vibe of the game.

Ok but post nuclear vibe it isn't. Post nuclear war means almost no plant life and nature that suffers. Last of us is the opposite and nature that fights back and thrives
Look at chernobyl though. Wildlife is thriving there and there is loads of greenery, and the accident wasn't centuries ago like with fallout 4

I guess you're all correct but this means the developers made a mistake with the landscape. I'm watching the 100 TV series and it takes place 100 year after nuclear war. The nature is in abundance, no toxic water but there are animals with two heads, fluorescent plant life,...
By far one of the best visual mods i've seen. It looks good enough to an official mod by Bethesda and not just a harsh color switch.
Finished it today, around 100hrs. Now this mod makes me wanna play again.

The MOD seems to show how the world will be after a few long years.
what people don't seem to understand is that this is more realistic, as plants adapt to radiation quickly, and due to lack of animal life, they would thrive.

It would be cool to make these "green" mods more lore friendly by weaving them into the game in a way that makes sense. AKA, you obtain a GECK and you can choose where to set it off, anything within its radius starts to grow green again and look like how these mods have already made it look!

We did a pretty good job so far.
This is how Fallout 4 should of looked on release, it was only moderately improved from fallout 3/NV and with games like battlefront, gta V, Witcher 3 looking so beautiful I feel this is where Bethesda are really starting to fall behind

Hey i have a problem, when i play Fallout 4.
The monitor went black, but the game still runs, after a few seconds pictures come back and it happens again and again.
Someone know a solution ?
While the mod looks fantastic, the overall look of the vanilla is by design. It’s supposed to look completely destroyed, and make you wonder how anything/anyone could survive there. The lush greenery looks super appealing, but it completely takes away the look of the apocalypse, and just makes it look like people need to get out there and trim the grass. As for things like the Red Rocket sign being lit up in the mod, again, it’s by design that it wasn’t lit in the first place. It’s not getting power. It’s the apocalypse. I’m torn on this, because I love the mod, but it’s not at all what was intended.
I like this because it doesn’t just make Fallout look like a lush green environment buts it’s also not this brown wasteland anymore

Just thought of something having that grass like that makes no since in a fallout 4 world with deadly things and radiation. Graphic mods should never take away from the atmosphere.
it would be epic, if your character slept for 1,000,000 nights or however long itd take for a real world to go from vanilla level destruction, to mod(1000-20000 years maybe), itd start getting green.
the game should do it automatically if you play that long(lol)

The water looks better in vanilla Fallout compared to the mod.
This mod does the opposite of what the various "pure water" mods do for Skyrim. Vanilla Skyrim water is replaced by those mods with more realistic looking water, but this mod replaces the realistic looking water in vanilla Fallout with what resembles the not-so-great water of vanilla Skyrim (though it was a vast improvement over Oblivion's water).
Aside from the water, though, everything else looks better in the mod.

Look at pictures of modern day Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and especially Chernobyl. A lot of nature has taken back what mankind has destroyed. Sure Chernobyl is still irradiated but It just goes to show you that the Earth will always cleanse itself no matter how hard we hit it.

Is there a huge performance impact? The thing I always wonder is if you need your settings already at max in order to get visual mods to work. I play at max settings between 30 and 60 fps, but most of the time around 40, will I even be able to use this mod properly without getting like 15 fps?

I tried out all the mods and it runs better with them on. Most of them are retextures from 4k to 2k. Trees, rocks, ground etc.

why grassland makes the game much darker and better looking in this video?
I'm not saying it's bad, but it doesn't really give off that radiated feel after a big nuke went off.
it´s the first time i would prefer the vanilla version of the modded one, because in vanilla it`s more like a post apocalyptic world.
It's way more collored , i think the radioactive ambiance will fit more with vanilla, the mod give it a 'the last of US " kind
Fallout: A world where Atomic Annihilation has killed all but a few plant life and irradiated all bodies of water on Earth and all that remains is a barren Wasteland.
Modders: Hmmm, why don't we add a few grass here and there, add a couple forests, maybe a sprinkle of more grass there and clear blue water.
Honestly I think people give too much shit about how Fallout looks, it looks exactly what they wanted to achieve... a Wasteland. While adding grass and more trees does make the games look prettier it also hinders that feeling of roaming desolate wastelands where only the toughest survive, Fallout isn't a pretty game, it's the entire point... it was never supposed to be.

Haru Yanto Well that I think actually depends on how many nuclear bombs went off and what power each of them had.
I wouldn't say their interpretation is "wrong" as it is an artistic vision after all. The modded version is obviously more realistic, and even if they were going for a true post apocalypse feel Bethesda couldn't care less about the lore of a game world anyway.
Have you played Fallout New Vegas? It has a lot of green landscapes in it.

If you have an strong PC. I would recommend "ressurection mod". But it was taken down from the nexus, so you have to search another source

Rohan Sinha Ive heard that theres a New one on Bethesda.net which fortunally for Performance reasons makes the citys less overgrown. Try that one out.

the problem with this mod is that it changes the essence of the game, which emphasizes a world desolated by radiation, a wasteland, plants give a feel of life that does not match what the story raises

well it kinda seems more canon to have plants grow remember the area with the man who fused with that tree it had greenery plus since the lone wanderer fixed the water to not be as irradiated so more plants should grow back not this fast but hey you gotta start somewhere

THIS is how 210 years after the Great War look like. Bethesda keep doing the "War destruction style" even if 200+ years has passed, and when they should use this art style (fallout 76, since its only 20 years after the bombs), they do the opposite! Bethesda does a lot of hits, but also some serious mistakes.
It's supposed to look like a post apocalyptic game not an entire new game that cities and all haven't been destroyed..
What I've never understood is, if modders can mod and make fallout and other games look so good why the heck aren't the games made nice in the first place?

Agreed. Vanilla graphics are more pleasing cuz of it's unique ''cartoony'' vibe, whereas all the mods out there turn those cool graphics into Skyrim type depressing graphics that try to imitate real life visuals.
Realistically after some 100 years after a nuclear war, the Earth would look more like this mod and not like a wasteland like in fallout games, BUT, it takes away the atmosphere of the game I think. It falls upon on how you want your "fallout world" to look ... Realistic, as it would actually look a century after a nuclear war, or as the developers wanted it to look. Personally, if only because I like this artistic choice ( because that's what it is ), I prefer the 2nd option.
