Appreciate the video. Please do not copy this everyone. This style clamp is for raised open rails. The kind that you can see under and put a hand under. Pretty dangerous for everyone behind him on the highway
Great video thanks for sharing your experience
Cleared up for me that you need to unlock the locking side to access the hex nut, but you know by now these are for going under the rails.
Thank you
Thanks just bought one thanks to this video for a 2020 Hyundai Kona let’s pray it holds both kayaks 😂
Did it? Just got one 😂
@@cassandravilla531 works great I still have it and still use it
Have you added any cargo baskets on yet? I bough one for my car (flushed rails) and I’m curious how it handles
Haven't tried a cargo basket to be honest.
Incorrect. You can use this style of roof rails. Just can’t use low profile.
Just a question. How did it hold up. I have closed roof rails on my car too and not sure if i should take this roof rack back?
To be honest it can handle small, light weight things but it's more designed for raised roof rails as it is more secure on those. So I'd recommend skipping these on closed non-raised roof rails.
What size hex tool ?
those cross bars aren't designed for that style roof bars, not safe
They're universal so they fit but I agree they don't stay as sturdy on these as they do on those raised roof rails.
universal for raised open rail bars not flushed closed rail style, quick google search on your end will back me up. not your fault, your style rails came into popularity on newer cars but these weren't designed for that style so the torsional grip is all on the end point when it would be gripping a whole bar
they make budget ones for your style bars too
That gap tho
What a piece of crap! I have the right bars but I can't make any headway whatsoever with that hex crank! Feels likes the connection is stripped but it's brand new...Been turning that wrench for an hour and doesn't tighten. Taking this back to store
I'm sorry but these crossbars sucked. Its probably my car, but I'm kind of disappointed. I have a Kayak rack I wanted to put on too. Good thing I can return them. $85 is too much to pay for stuff this bad.
I agree. They are good for light stuff but I wouldn't recommend them for heavy loads or something that will encounter a lot of wind resistance such as kayaks.
@@DIYMaistor Thanks. I’ll admit I’m not the most handy guy either, but sometimes stuff just doesn’t work.
Very dangerous. DO NOT FIT THESE BARS TO THESE RAILS.
Correct, they are meant for the raised roof rails but unfortunately the manufacturer doesn't specify that so I installed them here at that time.
