    Thanks, your video was helpful. You may have mentioned this, but if so I didn't catch it: If the straps won't properly engage the ratchet mechanism (that is they pull out with little or no resistance), disassemble the strap, flip it over, and reassemble.

  • @johnchoice1371
    @johnchoice1371 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I have exactly the same one which I bought recently. One important point is to make sure you assemble each end clip the right way around into the slot on the end of the ratchet piece. It is easy to make a mistake and get it the wrong way round. Also, make sure you get the key all the way into the lock, with its irregular side face up. To open the lock, turn a quarter turn anticlockwise. To close, turn a quarter turn clockwise For the money, these are about the best value you can get, but the instruction leaflet could be better.

    • @LadybugAdventures
      @LadybugAdventures  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. I still have it though. I used it through 1.5 years and it served me well. The most common issue that most people have is how to get the rack off. There is a black tab that you have to pull down. Mine works but you still have to jiggle it to release. I’ve kept it for a back up but although it’s not bad, it’s got a personality that may not work for a lot of people. If you are mechanically inclined this rack isn’t an issue. If not then I wouldn’t get it.

    • @LadybugAdventures

      I only use mine seasonally. Because of the salt use in the winter I was worried about corrosion. Using it more, I noticed that in heavier rains it would leak into the car.

    Would this work on a 2 door car you think?

    • @LadybugAdventures
      @LadybugAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a big maybe! Really depends on how far back the doors go on the roofline. Might be okay on some but the roof rack may sit slightly more forward and the two bars sit closer together. So if you're using it for bikes then you might have an issue with that. I'm just using it to haul my paddle board so it's fine.

    • @LadybugAdventures
      @LadybugAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm really not sure. Really comes down to the spacing of the bars. For something bigger like my paddle board or a bike on a two door the bars might be too close together. For snowboards it might work.

    hey, great job, is this on your CRV you've done maintenance videos? We have a 2014 and I put something similar on ours, worked great EXCEPT for when it rained, the under sill hooks pushes the gasket out and introduces a gap. the problem is that seal is the rain seal, the internal door seal is just for noise and maybe some air. We found that out the hard way when in a downpour my daughter and her car seat got soaked. If it weren't for the rain issues I would have kept the rack. Good luck and great video!

    • @LadybugAdventures
      @LadybugAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hasn't rained yet but I've been afraid of that. I looked around all the seals and I thought that might be a problem. Maybe I'll spray some water on it today and check it out.

      @@LadybugAdventures Rain only entered the cabin during a downpour on the highway, but there was wetness between the outer and inner door seals. That inner door seal is not a super right seal unfortunately. I had installed a SportRack branded kit, I did notice on the sill hooks were very thick on those; good for the paint not so much for the rain. Good luck!

    • @TheDcrocks1
      @TheDcrocks1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You might be ratcheting too tightly. I literally just got done re-adjusting my hooks for the same reason. So when you over tighten the hooks, they also flare out right at the tips. Do it on your rack and see how the clip flares out. This is my second set of these in maybe 4 or 5 years. And i carry a 18ft long boat and i love them. So i ripped of the rubber guards off, because i know they will sit good and function well with out them, they will sit flusher Compared to when the protector was there. But its either or. Too tight or the rubber protector is too thick and pushes the door gasket away.
