I remember back in the day this channel didn't have english subtitles. What struck me was that I always more or less got what this guy was saying even though I don't speak japanese XD What a great guy!
Ujie is major fun to watch .. and hear ... even you don't understand one bit of it :) Great player and showmanships. Even the way how he often plays known tunes or riffs a little bit "wrong" is kinda funny
This instrument uses advanced physical modeling developed by Axel Hartmann, the same guy who developed the Hartmann Neuron advanced resynthesis system.
Glad someone has finally road tested the Zarenbourg. It's a really nice looking instrument. Would you buy this over a real Rhodes? Shame it's not cheaper but you have to pay for quality.
This takes years and years of practice and development. It's all Jazz really. If you are interested I recommend checking out this video from the great Bill Evans where he explains improvisation and self exploration in music by using classic Jazz standards and chords progressions as the basis: watch?v=YEHWaGuurUk
Well, I bought this SP half a year ago, and the sound quality is superb, compared to both the Korg SV1 and the Hammond SK-series, when talking about the sound of the Wurly and Rhodes. The only thing, that would come close would be a Nord, because of the many sets of sampled material it got. And then again, because the Waldorf has phys. mod. for the Rhodes and Wurly. The only cons is, that it is really heavy to carry around, but most the time, it just home.
***** Are you considering getting a Zarenbourg? There's a lot to consider before getting one, like weight (34 kg: A lot, in consideration to todays "standard" SP), "only" a 76 note keybed (but a great one: A Fatar keybed) and a limited choice of piano voices (2, to be exact). But with that in mind, its absolutely fantastic.
seems like the nord stage would be a better choice. it's a thousand dollars cheaper, has the exact same fatar keybed (if you get the HP version,) has a lot more features and variations of pianos, plus the Hammond section, synth section, master controller capabilities, and doesn't weigh 83 lbs. but those shiny chrome legs sure are pretty.
+chieftp This probably feels more like an instrument than a Nord Stage. Like a real Electric Piano, everything dedicated and a nice piece of furniture too. You could get this instead of an upright acoustic if you're more into Electric Pianos.
Yeah, this is not a cost effective item. It's a luxury item for sure. Waldorf's Blofeld is actually a cost effective synth for instance :) Or a Kurzweil PC3Le IMO...
One at the moment. I have heard that they got an Upright but is unlcear if this will be released. I am also waiting for the Editor which was proposed already a while ago....
Well, Master Ujie is skilled for sure! At the same time it's nothing that you can't learn. Make sure you know fundamental music theory with chords and harmony first. Then there's a lot of great videos on TH-cam that can help you on your way for example: watch?v=lzOGpVYxKrY and watch?v=OU3W552S54s , and then you have to practise and just play alot too of course. :) Play standard jazz tunes to get familiar with typical chord voicings..
Wow, that's one, new keyboard instrument that isn't butt ugly and covered in gay blue lights. Looks like a real, dignified musical instrument. A classic.
I have both sparkLE and minlabs. Both are useless pieces of crap. Minilabs crashes every tenths or so times you chnage between voices. Its impossible to use inside a DAW as it crashes if you even look at it like you want to changes a setting. I upgrade SparkLE from 1.6 to 1.7.1, boy what a mistake. The midi controller software crashes just by opening the program. The actual SparkLE program has an "unsupported sampling rate" error and no way I can see to change the sampling rate. When I tried to rollback to 1.6 the sound is distored and crap. I have contacted Arturia 3 times in the last two weeks and the most sensical reply I get is from an automated email system. In conclusion, hardware = junk, software = useless, support = non- existant. Don't waste your money or your time.
Best keyboard review guy on youtube.
Chris Martirano is a heck of a tasty player as well B)
+beatz04 Yes! Great chops and he always matches each sound with the right kind of riff.
Thumbs up to whoever did the translated captions too, they're always top-notch!
i personally would like to hire this guy to live in my house and play random keyboards all day would be quite nice really

He is Asian. Should be like $1.00/hour

i could listen to him jam on that thing all night long
Mr Katsunori has a new, casual summer style :) Playing and presentation is great as usual, thumbs up
Thanks for another beautiful review - of which I understood nothing as always but still enjoyed a lot. Ujiie-san is a really skilled and nice man!
You are the Master of Synthesizers!!
This instrument uses advanced physical modeling developed by Axel Hartmann, the same guy who developed the Hartmann Neuron advanced resynthesis system.
Master Ujie strikes again! What a great sound!
The keyboard is fantastic. But this guy is even more f**king amazing!!!
i luv this guy! he's for sure in my youtube synth top 5
Brillant demo, bravissimo! Thank you very much we like your playing so much! All best wishes.

His play great as always.
It seems both found their match in each other.
A very fun and skilled demonstration! / 非常に楽しいと熟練デモ!
Ujiie, you've just relaxed my soul ....

Fantastic instrument and fantastic review!

Damn right, where do people learn how to just improvise these beautiful chord progressions?
Oh my... That was wonderful, the first song made tickles in my ears
What a beautiful sound.
can you try out the Hammond sk series if you can get your hands on one thanks
once again, good demo! thank you mister Katsunori UJIIE!
very yamaha inspirated(CP 80, DX 7etc...)
いちいちフレーズがヤバい!DEMO動画で感動して泣いたのは初めてです。
Ujiieさんの紹介方法いつも最高です。
Oh...and the sounds can be edited via PC.
Bill Evans is the Man....just waiting for this guy to drop an album...Great review as always!!
Sounds beautiful... I wish I had the money to buy one of those :')
woow what a beautiful instrument!

This thing is a luxury, not a workhorse. It has an EMES Hi-Fi system integrated in the chasis (you can plug and amplifi external audio sources).
Javi G
not taking anything away from it. I'm sure it's a fine instrument. but that extra $1,000 could buy some nice PA equipment too!
+chieftp This probably feels more like an instrument than a Nord Stage. Like a real Electric Piano, everything dedicated and a nice piece of furniture too. You could get this instead of an upright acoustic if you're more into Electric Pianos.
*****
or you could just get a real electric piano. at some point, the price/features just don't make sense.
Yeah, this is not a cost effective item. It's a luxury item for sure.
Waldorf's Blofeld is actually a cost effective synth for instance :)
Or a Kurzweil PC3Le IMO...
Setting auto captions to translate to English reveals his sheer delight of the instrument just after 2:05 : "I will discharge tube completely".
Awesome
7:00 the tapping solo from Metallica's One ;)
Ujiie, you are fantastic!
Always worth watching this guy play. Not into this neo Rhodes but the guy really makes the most of it.
No 88 note keyboard right now and I doubt they will produce one. But best is to contact them directly.
One at the moment. I have heard that they got an Upright but is unlcear if this will be released. I am also waiting for the Editor which was proposed already a while ago....
The versatility of Ujjie is obvious but I wasn't expecting that suddenly cinematic burst! 13:58
Ujiie could make a $20 Casio keyboard sound awesome!
well HOW MUCH IS IT and does it come in a 88 note keyboard???.
I love this guy!
So what's under the hood, if it's all physical modeling and sample based?
Both :)
And a German Hi-Fi audio system as well.
Fantastic instrument! Doesn‘t seem to have sold well, though. 🙁
How many different Grand-piano types are there to choose from?
can anybody do side-by-side comparison to the Korg similar one?
where do you find this keyboard ...new too me
3 I believe.
3:55 that little hand thingy he does
Man I wish I could play like you!
これどこで買えますか?
Best product! Only? Wegiht
Or any other clavia nord keyboard. Surprised you didnt demo any of them!
7:53 is this a real song? sounds familiar
Cool Cat at work playing the cool sounds!

Omg that is one cool Hat on the head of one cool cat.
Incredible japanese player
Are those wood keys on this piano?
+ingoodmusic No, plastic keys, but nice ones.
Please demo the nord stage 2!!!
has a good analog sound but hard to get over the front of it looking like my maytag washer lol
Waldorf Blofeld! There is enough space on the top of Waldorf Zarenbourg to put Waldorf Rocket and Waldorf Salad on it :)
Is it just me or the paint on the cover looks a little gnarly?
Not bad
nice but spensive! get a kawai mp7 for half the price and good sounds
Taking lessons and lots of practice haha.
English please

@CR055F1RE Metal is unnecessary. I'm talking about silly blinky rainbow lights all over everything.
オケの音がリアルですね。管弦にティンパニまで入ってる…
ツマミがMOOGみたいですね。
exercise
Un rhodes con sintetizador no es nada nuevo
This instrument is too big for using it on the bus!
Journey fans, skip to 10:23
sounds like mr. rogers neighborhood!
yep, this definitely made me discharge my tube
14:00 omg wtf!
but this one is fucking expensive :=)
Very so good Jackie Chan!

I have few software synthesizers, but I prefer hardware, because these have not crashed for me not a once.
