This is the best synth Korg has released in a long time. Affordable price too. You don't have to be a corporate executive or sports star to buy it like the older Korg gear.
he was talking about ujie playing famous sounds but slightly differently. anyone knows the original knows exactly what it is but the copyright holders of the songs can't claim copyright on the video because the original hasn't been exactly played.
some media companies mess around. if they make a claim, whether it's true or not, it adds to the strike of a channel. even if their claim is refuted eventually, 3 strikes suspends the account. wiser to be safe than sorry.
UJIIE-san is one of the foremost sound designers in the history of synths: soundcloud.com/katsunori-ujiie And unlike a lot of people with tech abilities, he is also a fine musician. But I guess that is obvious . . .
Bravo korg! 👍
04:20 I think that "Crowley Split" may have been meant for a few rabid Don Airey/Ozzy Osbourne keyboard fans, but in traditional Ujiie style, he gave it his own recipe by turning it into a sort of 80's pop. It's amazing sometimes a distinct patch (or a group of sounds) can be made to sound "dark", or "hard", or even "upbeat."
in spite of what others think. I believe it sounds quite good. Seems like a Microkorg XL full size and with multiple filter types, quite an improvement.
I want this one for what it is. I've only just recently realised the XMT in KingKorg is an evolution of MS2000 and Radias engines (and microkorg and R3) - to me that part alone is a worthy of getting one. I have nothing against VA and couldn't care less if it does or doesn't sounds like OB or Prophet. Where I am, a second hand Radias comes up maybe once every 3 years, and although I could import one from Japan or US, by the time I'd pay for shipping, customs duties and sales taxes, it would amount to more than just geting new KingKorg from a local dealer. Already having several sequencers, a lack of one in this keyboard doesn't bother me. I think its physical UI is still pretty well suited for endless tweaking and modding. Looks like this synth has got pretty low following, probably helped by the development of Korg's own true analogue "*logue" family machines. I reckon 20 years from now it will have the same core following the MS2000 does now - those who own it, love it. Thank you Katsunori Ujiie and the SWCreativeJapan team!
This dude plays with SOUL!!!! Check out his Korg Kross demo too - I hope he's on Korg's payroll, cuz every time I see him play a Korg instrument, I want to go out and buy it!!! :0
Exactly. I own one, and the king korg is a proof to why digital emulation of analog is better then modern analog. because you can get great sound for a low price tag.
This sounds so korg and Japanese and he has this Japanese playing style when he does his own thing (not playing song/renditions just jamming) and I can just feel the like Japaneseness piling up ahhh 🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵🇯🇵
A sampler is a piece hardware that records a sound sample, manipulates it and then allows you to play it back, Kingkorg uses Oscillators to produce sound. you can't sample sounds with the actual Kingkorg keyboard nor use its features to load your samples from a computer. The Kingkorg was £900 when I wrote that comment and my Motif keyboard which I own that can do full sampling I purchased for £600! with the Yamaha Motif you can sample any synthesiser thats ever been on the market and play it back in it near full glory, I see it as a bit of a waste of money compared to the unit I already own.
i use my mtif xf as a sampler. but this does obx perfect. i love this synth for live playing. and its the best virtual analog out there hands down the best
Well, that's a compliment because the M3 is a very warm synth with nice filters. However you need the EXB-Radias board to get the analogish capability to have low alias waveforms, pulse width modulation and hard sync. And then it sounds like a Radias, which is awesome, but the filters have one essential sound. As an owner of a few analogs, I have to say that the KK sounds quite rich and similar. You dissers are a funny bunch, probably from gearslutz.
it's actually a virtual analog synth meaning it uses( DSP ),digital signal processing and basically software to mimic the circuitry of the analog synth to give you the sounds. It you already knew this my bad.
Thank you for the demo, Ujiie-san. This would make a decent synth for beginners if it wasn't for the comparably high price tag. I'm still trying to figure out Korg's motivation behind the King Korg, it does not seem to bring anything new to the table, save for a nice interface and the vac tube. Given that you could buy a Novation Ultranova and a Waldorf Blofeld desktop for the price of a KK and still had some money left, I doubt this will be a top seller.
Champagne color I disliked just like on the OG MicroKorg. So I bought the last KingKorg Black brand new on Ebay last week. "The Dark King" according to Korg. Surely the last brand new one ever sold...
Ahhh...Lets also talk workflow. When you have a decent board vs VST's I find my work flow is so stream lined when composing a beat. You scroll through sounds in seconds, edit without clicks and save with press of buttons. It is debatable but to this day, I can't program on software fast enough. I just like pressing keys in real time with no delay or stuttering. Own: Triton, Alesis Fusion, Micron, M Audio Venom.
This guy is GREAT!! -- I LOVE his demos! Funny thing though...He can read engrish but talks in foreign -- Then every once in a while he has to say the word in engrish...Makes me crack up every time...Ha, ha, ha!
I use a desktop PC and its fine, but I would rather have a dedicated piece of hardware for live performance. Laptops arent really ideal though I would always vouch for a desktop unless doing location recording maybe. In a studio VSTs are just as good as hardware. I use Omnisphere for synths, Ivory 2 for pianos, both of which pretty much equal or better any piece of hardware. Id love a Kronos if I was playing live, but currently couldnt justify it for what I could get on the VST market.
Very nice demo, once again...Thank you so much, Mr Katsunori UJIIE! But what about the "keys" and "pianos" sounds? are they good? Very impressive keyboard: a real "fun machine"
Hey plays it so nice, he gives it credibility. I'm not a fan of this. It may be tight, but I loved the airiness of the roland keyboards of the 80's. the D50 and JD800 blow this clear out of the picture. Of course, how should I expect anything to match their quality. Not much of anything can anyway. This thing just sounds dinky to me, and even Korg reps can't say much about this.
Not my market, but I disagree with the negative sentiment. There's definitely a subtlety in this board's sound. I almost wonder if they were shooting for the giant 80s DCO polysynth sound rather than ripping VCO.
I'm a korg fan,..., Firstly, we have a new esthetic korg here but, what's new ? what about the sounds ? no news according to what i heard here...:( i know it's difficult to inovate but please....
This is the first time one of your demos *didn't* make me want to run out and buy the synth. I like the idea of this synth (and the size and the design) but most of the sounds seemsa bit ... thin and buzzy once you take out the huge amounts of reverb and delay and other effects. Maybe it's a case of a synth with boring presets but a lot of power?
No, Pete, the sounds, they are clean and crystal. If you want to add more body, they provided a tube preamp inside. Korgs never have a sound as fat as Moogs and other american synths... BTW, how's my old JD-990?
so thats what you meant? Well the correct way to say would be the real light behind the real tube wouldn't it? Plus is there even a light behind it? or is it the tube glowing?
Well.. remember that this is COMPRESSED sound on TH-cam.. like everything else we all listen too today, so does it really matter THAT much? Good music isn't always about everything being pure analogue either. You can achieve it with digital stuff too. Just sayin' ;)
English caption is available now!!
Arigato!
This guy always gives the best demos :)
JIM JONES fuck off
Really this dude could play any synth or anything with keys on it and it'll sound good. Doesn't matter the instrument, just matters the player
This is the best synth Korg has released in a long time. Affordable price too. You don't have to be a corporate executive or sports star to buy it like the older Korg gear.
This board sounds amazing and the fact that its virtual analog is even more impressive
That is a beautiful instrument.
dodging copyright infringements like neo
What copyright infringements?
he was talking about ujie playing famous sounds but slightly differently. anyone knows the original knows exactly what it is but the copyright holders of the songs can't claim copyright on the video because the original hasn't been exactly played.
I know, my point was for a demonstration like this, there would be no infringement. That would definitly be fair use...
some media companies mess around. if they make a claim, whether it's true or not, it adds to the strike of a channel. even if their claim is refuted eventually, 3 strikes suspends the account. wiser to be safe than sorry.

this is the best VA out there - analog RIP!
This and the Sledge 2.0 are neck and neck, imo. I don’t know which way I want to go.
@@HotStrange I have both here. Very different sounding. Sledge software is not as reliable but I prefer it for now.

this thing is serious
I think every could and should be satisfied if they should ever get one
it has the oberheim filter emulation and sounds really really close
I like it - it's a good synthesizer it sounds Great
Veronica McCarrison you can have mine, I have too many synths.
Most people that criticize these synths wouldn't know shit in a blindfold test
Haha you're soooo right. :-)
Exactly. I own one, and the king korg is a proof to why digital emulation of analog is better then modern analog. because you can get great sound for a low price tag.

it actually sounds quite good, i'm surprised much better than i heard on the namm demos

UJIIE-san vs. NAMM = NO contest.
UJIE, Please write a book on chord voicing and playing lead-solo-riffs.

I think he actually wrote a few books
great walk through! means a lot to me!
Great demo, ありがとう
I would buy this but for the price I would expect a sampler built into the kit....Ill stick to my motif and juno classical keyboards!
Exe. Dist sampler??

While they would be awesome, the trade off is you get PCM samples and Korgs version of an FM synth (VPM).
Was waiting for him to demo this Keyboard. This man is Godlike when it comes to keyboard demos. Korg good job on such a great piece of instrument,
I don't understand a word he says, and yet I like this guy a lot
Well, that's a compliment because the M3 is a very warm synth with nice filters.
