Did you really say "Language" at Chris Evans when Guy pulled out the Capt. America shield? LOL How meta! and what a call back to Age of Ultron. Loved the reaction video, for a non gamer I think you got the most of if not all the references. Well done. Will be on the lookout for other reactions of movies and series I've seen. Thank you. See you again soon.
The Marvel and Star Wars bit made me giggle out loud when I watched this.. Showed my daughter a few clips, she recognized all the gamers and went to her room to watch it all.
Awww ☺️ I know a lot of those parts were lost on me, but some reactions that I’ve watched since recognized all the gamers and they got really excited. This movie was a love letter to gamers
Possibly my favourite standalone movie of the last few years. Brilliant concept and writing, amazing cast, and this moment made me literally cheer out loud: 33:33
As someone who has grown up with Asperger's Syndrome, I relate a lot to the literal nature of Guy from this movie. Probably one of the reasons I love it so much. But it's also a good teaching point for how someone with things like Asperger's see and understand things. It makes for good comedy when done right, but seeing it like that and then thinking about how some people live like that all the time and how they have to learn how to understand things like sarcasm and metaphors could really help people understand and deal with people like that better.
This movie was made in the middle of the FOX buy of Disney. So it started as a FOX production and ended as a Disney production. As soon as FOX got bought by Disney, Ryan himself wanted to add a SH*TTON of Disney references, which they did at the end.
It's OK that Chris swore, he was being Chris, not Cap. :D And in the likelihood this is before your time, the song that played when Guy put the glasses on Dude was known best in the 80's as the theme to The Greatest American Hero, a TV show about a school teacher who finds an alien suit that gives him Superman-like powers.
Thank you so much for doing this reaction! Sorry I didn't find it until now. 40:07 "We need this in our lives! Absolutely love this movie... and loved your reaction... You knowing who Taika and Jodie were made my day (most of the others only recognised the 'stars'... Oh and a lot of the video streamers in the movie were actual game streamers on Twitch and TH-cam... and the interviewer was Terri Schwartz from IGN... awful lot of homage to gaming in this one...
38:26 I Love you saw that Shawn Levy from Stranger Things was also associated with Free Guy! Plus some of the actors were in it too, Keith the guy who runs the arcade, portrayed by Matty Cardarople that you mentioned and Joe Keery who plays Steve Harrington also played Walter "Keys" McKey !
I'm a Network engineer and yes, comms and server rooms DO actually look like that but are usually more well lit. I was actually called to a site where a guy had gone berserk with an axe but tbh all the damage was cosmetic. He'd have done FAR more damage with a pair of scissors by cutting the cables both fibre and copper. It would have taken WEEKS if not months to repair that kind of attack. Instead, we just didn't bother touching anything.
In Keye's apartment he has an Intellevision video game system which came out in the early 1980s and was better graphically than the competing Atari system, and was one of the first systems to have voice acting rather than the regular beeps and boops

it's a really fun movie! And yes servers do look like that. Especially large server farms have to be very neat and tidy with thousands of cables and lots of status LEDs. They're usually pretty loud though. Other than that it's extremely inaccurate about how games and servers work but well at least it's fun and it does a decent job in portraying how regular people perceive games. Disney also really likes to brag with their licenses i guess
Loved it, Ryan does such a great job as always. By the way, I think Annabelle Creation and Annabelle Comes Home will definitely get you to love dolls, because they're a real step above Annabelle. I might be sarcastic about the loving dolls part tho ;)
Server rooms are like that. Except better lighting, and too loud to hear yourself say Kickin ass, TBD, or even third thing here. Ryan with the shield and the lightsaber was a great moment. As was the Chris Evans cameo. 👍
This might very well be my favourite movie this year, and like damn, there are a LOT of good movies out this year! But I think I've rewatched it the most so far.
Delightful reaction to a delightful film. Glad I'm not the only one that teared up that Guy gave her the push to see what she had in the real world, it was a beautifully touching ending.
I liked this one so much better than "Ready Player One"! And I didn't see it any other comment, but in the end, when they kiss, Keys is in a blue shirt, being the real-life "blue shirt guy". I really liked how the NPC characters names are actually generic: Guy, Buddy and Dude
I'd watch Jodie Comer read the service agreement for MS Word. She is brilliant and talented. And beautiful. And 100x more attractive than a person should be.

Yes, (the bigger, more expensive, better maintained) server rooms do actually look like that. Except they don't sound like that. They sound like thousands of ACs. Server room of that size would be so loud that it would be hard to hear a person standing next to you if they were shouting at full volume.
Have you ever seen the Taika Waititi movie What We Do in the Shadows? It was the first movie I ever saw him in and suffice it to say I was hooked. He's so funny, as is everyone else in the movie. I love your entusiasm! The way Guy says "I work... at the bank!" makes me laugh. Because I work at the bank! (Not a great job, by the way) Deadpool 2 has 2 versions. They both até cool.
Having a lightsaber is great but I think you need to pause for just a moment when you realize the guy you’re fighting is blocking your lightsaber with his hands…
Have you seen Meet Joe Black with Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, and Claire Forlani? If not, it seems like a movie you'd _really_ enjoy. I think there is a small nod to that movie in this one (probably shouldn't say what regardless of spoiler-y, or not), but I'm not 100%. Either way, I'd highly recommend throwing it on a list or just casually watching.
Other good animated shows would be Avatar the last airbender. Also One Piece. One Piece is heartbreaking. It has everything on the "hey that is f-ed up" list: every type of slavery, corrupt governments who are ready to do some serious damage to those who get in their way, inequality due to being born that way, racism and so so much more. That show goes heavy and then turns around and does silly.
If you liked some of the background music, like when Guy got his memory back ,it's from a Disney short cartoon only 6 minutes long shown before "Wreck it Ralph". Black and white and in a brand new format like old style meets 3D. It's one of the most romantic cartoon I've ever seen and It's all done with out words. It's called "PaperMan". Some people overlayed different music but here is the original. th-cam.com/video/XrqSF2OOz_M/w-d-xo.html I cried in the theater when I heard it and recognized where it was from.
For me, this movie is re-watchable. Same with Deadpool and Deadpool 2 and Bullet Train. Have you see Bullet Train? Both Ryan and Channing make appearances in it.
As you are a big Star Wars fan, I would suggest Knights of the Old Republic. One of my favourite games with some really quirky characters and a great plot. If you want a star wars gane set during the film timeline though, Jedi Fallen Order is well received.
You should definitely do a reaction to “Ready Player One” very similar to Free Guy. It’s a fun gaming & nostalgic Easter egg type movie! A must watch 🙌🏼
9:28 don't worry, most non playable characters ARE non persons of consequence... and those that aren't are usually marked essential anyways so there's still not a reason to worry about them.... 😀
As a professional compu-geek, server rooms do look like that, except they well it with bright lights for the most part, they are fairly cold (computers put out a lot of heat,) and finally, it's nearly impossible to hear anybody speaking, due to high-powered air conditioning, and every server having at least 5 fans. They can be pretty loud!
"Non-Player Character" - a descriptor that stems from roleplaying games. Usually, an individual that Players interact with. Video games capitalize on them, but it sort of devalues life...this movie kind of tries to change that concept.

Either way, I'd highly recommend throwing it on a list or just casually watching.
Animated series that seem light and silly but end up emotional and awesome:
Steven Universe, She Ra, The Owl House
Other good animated shows would be Avatar the last airbender. Also One Piece. One Piece is heartbreaking. It has everything on the "hey that is f-ed up" list: every type of slavery, corrupt governments who are ready to do some serious damage to those who get in their way, inequality due to being born that way, racism and so so much more. That show goes heavy and then turns around and does silly.
@@SuDaixi ATLA is definitely one of the holy grail great shows. It's a little on the long side... mm.
But I will note that the three I mentioned have Queer representation, which is cool.
If you thought swearing in this movie was unexpected for Disney, check out “Pam & Tommy”, especially ep. 2…
eh gamers yah know
If you liked some of the background music, like when Guy got his memory back ,it's from a Disney short cartoon only 6 minutes long shown before "Wreck it Ralph".
NPC = Non=Player Character. Usually background characters quest givers and targets of quest.
If you need more just ask. Long time gamer here. >; >
The cutest reaction ever.
Great reaction!
bi panik be like: "I don't know who I'd rather kiss; Ryan Reynolds or Jodie Comer?!"
💀 gurl same
For me, this movie is re-watchable.
This movie and you are so cool :)
NPC is non player character, or in the movies case non playable character since they attack it as a skin you are not supposed to use.
Blimey. The audio and framing has come along way, lol.
"Non-Player Character" - a descriptor that stems from roleplaying games. Usually, an individual that Players interact with. Video games capitalize on them, but it sort of devalues life...this movie kind of tries to change that concept.
Deadpool 1 and 2 are some of the most enjoyable super hero movies. They are R-rated, but good humour.
