It's a prequel show, so the disadvantage in storytelling is knowing Mike won't die on this desert trip. But the advantage in storytelling is the painful dramatic irony we get when we hear Mike talk about being willing to sacrifice is life to provide for his family, knowing he fails to do so.
It's crazy, the time and effort that goes into shooting an episode of this show. They shoot like they have a feature film schedule and not an episodic TV schedule. You aren't going to find any lazy direction here.

It sounds like this episode was pure hell to shoot, but whenever people ask Bob Odenkirk about it, he always calls out the stunt people and the crew who worked in the desert for this, because he feels like their job was even harder than his but they don't get any attention. He's a classy guy.
Dexter or Twin Peaks would be excellent choices for reactions. Can you imagine this show without Kim? She's immense. I have to wonder if they planned her arc from the beginning or increased her role because she was so good. I can't think of a better female character in a TV show. I believe she's going to team up with Gilligan for a new project at some point. See how Saul cleans his shoes with some of that precious water earlier in the episode?

Game of thrones? 🤣 S1-4 were brilliant, yes. And then it started getting worse and worse. To the point of being absolutely horrific. And simply disrespectful to viewers. One of the biggest disappointments I've ever experienced Now this will be controversial, cause AoT is loved by so many. I find it overrated and filled with clichés. Not to mention chasing shock moments just for the sake of shock moments. I just don't see those 2 shows being anywhere near BrBa/BCS 🤷♂️
Sopranos is another great series modern day Italian- American mobsters. Oh and don't worry about being called names. I smiled during Todd's scenes in breaking bad.
BrBa and BCS are my favorites, but here are some other series suggestions if you haven't seen them: Dexter, Sons of Anarchy, Sopranos, Fargo are fantastic crime/legal shows ; Last of Us is a brief but fantastic apocalypse show; Games of Thrones and House of the Dragon are good fantasy shows.
I saw some people suggesting that you pick up game of thrones but I think I saw somewhere that you've already watched it. Have you seen House of the Dragon yet Elie? As a fan of the book series who has a lot of issues with HBO's game of thrones I have to say that House of the Dragon is better in nearly every way. If the end of GoT put you off of it (understandable tbh) I gotta recommend you give HoTD a chance!

The first four seasons, at least, are pretty solid. I also liked the suggestion someone else made of trying the Battlestar Galactica miniseries, it's a two-parter running about three hours in total, and seeing if you may want to watch the show. The show has four seasons and 2-3 movies. The miniseries is effectively a long pilot.
Not to diminish my love for this episode, but I agree. But the only reason I agree is that there are lots of folks who state, like it's some kind of scientific fact, that this is the best episode of the entire series. For me, that's overblown rhetoric. There are so many brilliant episodes throughout this series that it feels disingenuous to have such certainty about one of them being so much better than the rest. That being said, I'd probably have this one in my favorite top 10 of the series. One of the main reasons being that it's such a PERFECT SETUP for the next episode, which for me personally, is an even greater episode. Just like no Breaking Bad, no Better Call Saul - No Bagman, no Bad Choice Road. And this analogy, and personal preference of mine, goes for how I feel about BB v BCS as well. Cheers...
