Ah, the RK100 Pro, my first non-gaming board. I bought it at the same time that I bought a Keychron K4, and had small issues with both of them, which led me to buy an Iqunix F97. I really liked the aluminum case, but the bezels were too small. When I'm not using my board it sits on the armrest of my love seat, and picking it up one-handed just wasn't possible without hitting the + or enter keys at the same time. I ended up putting some new switches in it (Lavender Purples) and replacing the keycaps, and it sounded pretty good. I gave it away to one of my trainees at work and he still uses it. I sit about 10 feet away from my PC's, and the Bluetooth quality was fantastic. No issues, and the instant wake was perfect. The 2.4g dongle sucked though, it wouldn't even register at that distance. My co-worker uses it in Bluetooth mode because even at a desk the 2.4g just doesn't work. Nowadays I still own an RK84 Pro, which I have with Dev\tty MT3 keycaps and Feker Holy Pandas, it's a good board too, and sounds very nice. Soundtest here: th-cam.com/video/ZuAI37Hoxls/w-d-xo.html
@@MechKeyboards Haha, it doesn't help that I always have a fan on. I could turn it off and get a better test, but for a quick test I wasn't too worried.
@@DaveAlkema I had many sources of background noise which I had to fix one by one, still got some furry noise makers that are good at chiming in at just the right moment though, but I forgive them ;)
@@MechKeyboards What I should really do is start doing sound tests in my office, no fans in there. I could turn off my fan out here, but I'm not sure it'd ever turn on again, the knob is a bit broken after my dogs knocked it over one too many times. Hope you're having a good Monday so far!
@@DaveAlkema gotta love how our furry babies can inadvertently damage or destroy stuff we need, LOL! Having a great Monday, thanks for asking! Hope your is going swimmingly as well, cheers!
What would you say the best aluminum 96% would be? I recently tried the Surmen GS98/XinMeng X98 and it's extremely solid bang for buck but not aluminum I'm also on a journey to find the perfect 60% aluminum kit or prebuilt under $100 but that's real hard to find. Everyone likes the 65%
It's a little crazy to see this RK100 Pro without any dampening. Just received an RK61 today that (to my surprise) included both PCB and case foam. Hopefully for RK this is old stock as I'd also expect more from a "Pro" board.
Should note that I've seen this twice at 69.99 with an additional 20% off coupon, making it about 55. Once just after Black Friday and another time like 2-3 weeks ago. I've still yet to work on mine. Got blue clicky as i knew it'd be cacophonic. Almost a guilty pleasure how it sounds lol. Also, wager the lack of foam is that this is their older stock. Seems newer boards seem to be coming with foam stock. Thanks for the vid.
Very well could be they are just moving old stock, I know I have a couple of their newer boards that are much better stock, I was hoping this would be better as well.
Royal Kludge is selling a kit disguised as a full keyboard, their switches and keycaps are so bad i couldnt bare them on the other hand Akko is selling their keycaps by selling them with their sub average kit, though akko do make good switches
"the epomaker route" I haven't heard this tea. Will u be spilling?? Has the spill already occured? I like epomaker. They r like partners or whatever with akko and ajazz and a few more really nice budget options and i feel they need to exist and they need to be good lol
Epomaker is only a reseller that has been banned from Reddit, is skating thin ice with Amazon, and has the highest reported number of issues with their keyboards, as well as some of the worst "customer service" in the hobby.
Thanks for this video. I was looking at getting an 1800 style keyboard that had wirelss / rgb / hotswap / etc. All the bells and whistles. I was looking between RK100, RK100 pro, Keychron k4, and the Akko 3098n (Theres a 2098b but cant find one in black so id have to go for the N) Whatever I get I do plan on modding, and getting new switchs and keycaps. Which board would you recommend I go for? This will be my first board, so I want it to last a while, and be a good board to be able to mod and be happy with. I've been leaning towards the RK100 because of the cheaper price, so I found this video trying to find out what the difference is between the RK100 wireless and the RK100 Pro wireless.... CAnt seem to tell the difference outside of the aluminium case. Any info to help me make a decision would be greatly appriciated. Thanks!
The RK100 Pro (newer revision) comes well dampened, with good stabs and sounds decent stock. It does not have a pocket for the USB dongle or USB ports like the RK100, but delivers a nice experience stock, and even better when modded.

That's funny because the regular RK100 sounds pretty good with a half decent switch.
Planning to mod this soon to se how good it can sound.

For 96/98% the Monsgeek M2 is a superb aluminum kit, as far as 60%, there is the Poseidon60 from KPR, or for a bit more, the Tofu60 V2.

That sound test hurts me :((. I have a RK100 led version, I have to do a lot of works on it (new stab, buy pcb foam + add case foam).
I know, I wasn't expecting it to sing mind you, but this, this was bad.

Akko isn't so hot on QA/QC though.
