the feeling of starvation is really interesting, because while we don’t have any vampires in our system, we have MANY robots who formed because there was a need to feel like we didn’t NEED food, water, or other human facilities we were denied as a child. funny how that works out sometimes

Non-human alters are fascinating. Initially it feels like a "weird" thing for a mind to do, but the logic makes perfect sense. Like, irl my personal space is being violated however a vampire can't intrude without being invited, or, water terrifies me but mermaids wouldn't be scared of water, etc. I'm always in awe how our brain works so hard to protect us.

Dokładnie tak! Niesamowity jest ludzki mózg, a jak napisałam wyżej - grupa tych non-human alter jest zdecydowanie niedoceniona w psychotraumatologii. Pozdrowienia :).

    • @albino478gaming5

DID as a whole is so fascinating. The brain trying its brain to 'quarantine' feeling, trauma and needs to their own part, so that they dont become overwhelming. Each alter having its own 'job', parts of the experiences it holds onto, reflecting what 'job' they are meant to serve in how they present, in order to make said feeling or trauma more approachable.
All im saying is, the brain is absolutely miraculous and wonderful, although a bit of a mess.

I really relate to this… There’s a mermaid alter in our system who can’t talk. I used to really hate how weird my world was becoming, until I realised that almost all of the system came from my childhood. When I couldn’t breathe, when I couldn’t talk, when I couldn’t come up for air, she was there to keep me safe. She’s a princess that I’ve always loved and envied, and now she’s there for me, still, and I’m so grateful and so sorry and I want to hug her so bad. You could have a coloured border around the video for when you are talking about a triggering topic, so if someone skips forward in the video they will immediately know if the subject is still being discussed by the border being around the video? We have a ghost alter in our system and I think she comes from us not feeling seen/heard, feeling stuck in our abusers house for a specific amount of time (like how a ghost is stuck where they died), feeling dead and tired, that floating, almost tired, feeling you get from dissociation, and also not feeling like we could tell anyone bc the abuse didn't feel like abuse (like how a ghost is isolated)

This is so interesting. I think I am so drawn to did because it could've happened to me as a child. I experienced a lot of dissociative States where i was, like you said, floating in nowhere, only seeing but not hearing what happened. I saw some things, but nobody saw me. so my brain must've at one point deleted that. I don't know how I felt as a child left out, only when I am triggered and its a nasty overwhelming feeling, too heavy to bear for a four year old. And then I think what if I had understood earlier what happened? Because my brain forced me in amnesia I don't know about age 4 to 7 and I think that saved me. I am still just one person.

it’s wild to me how similar bpd and did experiences can be. i dissociate as a defense mechanism all the time, and sometimes it’s uncontrollable. sometimes i feel like my brain is made up of a bunch of little people who represent all my extreme emotions, more akin to something like inside out but if all the emotions were multiplied tenfold and some of them were evil lol. i feel like it helps me to personify my emotions and intrusive thoughts because it helps me separate myself from my trauma responses. the ways in which i was traumatized caused me to feel inhuman as a kid, and i often gravitated towards feeling like a vampire or werewolf since i was obsessed with twilight. thank you for sharing your experiences with us soren, it’s nice to feel seen by someone even if they don’t have the same trauma or disorder as i do.

The teeth looks vaguely like vampire teeth. Our vampire alters absolutely loved it because it affirmed their vampire identity. We no longer have any vampire alters. I will say, no of the vampire alters would actually drink blood. As far as I know, there wasn't any of the vampires that was introjects.

Being 4 ft 7 inches to us means do NOT go to the 5 foot section and do NOT go into a mosh pit. (We were at a concert once and a mosh pit formed in front of us. Someone very tall picked us up and simply removed us from the mosh pit to safety. **** this was helpful! Please do not think this person hurt us.)

as someone who is not a system and tall (5ft11 now, probably around 5ft8 or 9 at the time) I can also say that I avoid mosh pits where possible. I went to an a7x gig when I was around 16yo got caught in a mosh pit and this random dude was getting his gf out of the pit when I (being half crushed to death and barely able to breathe) begged him to come back for me - he did too, came back, got me out and I spent the rest of the night at the back. still enjoyed the gig but from safety. now I always get seated tickets because I am not going through that again! (Being tall didn't help me at all - they all crushed so close my feet weren't even on the ground).
Hope you have a better time at gigs going forward and just remember that gigs are still enjoyable even from the back!!

I have two vampire alters. Al Ucard and Dr. Acula... yes their names are both puns.
I related to a lot of the reasons stated in this video but also I was born with a skin disorder making me very pale like a Vampire, and suffered from undiagnosed insomnia for most of my life. My body is naturally more awake, more alert at night and I feel tiard durring the day. It doesn't usually matter how much sleep I get or don't get.
I use to get nightmares every night of my abuse when I was younger which may have contributed to why I can't sleep at night but that's again another vampire connection.

Ooooh, this explains SO much about why such such alters are formed, and why they can contain some heavy duty things that can result in them being easy to exile until able to handle such parts (lacking permission to "enter" system consciousness, thus kept supressed). This couldn't have come at a better time, been wondering about this subject due to noticing a repeating motif. The fun concept of vampire covens with a leader vampire comes to mind now lmao. Thank you so much for covering non human alters and this disorder in general!

Diving into non-human alters and what could possibly lead to their existence and roles is very eye opening for me. I am trying to write a small story with a character who learns to work with his animal alter and I always check on your videos to separate sensationalism from reality. Another character I am trying to perfect has an alter that has similar characteristics to a vampire and I remember worrying if I’d be crossing a line, but I always forget how powerful our minds are and how they use whatever they can to protect us, whether it be a fairy to fly away or a monster to carry the pain. As a singlet, I support you and every system, you guys are tough cookies! Stay strong, you are loved now and always.❤

I have a wolf alter, and he doesn't like new people most of the time. He's gotten better with it, especially when someone knows about him, but most of the time he hides, and watches from a distance until he feels like he can interact without judgment or worse. We have dealt with being made to feel unsafe in our safe space(s), and I still suffer CPTSD/PTSD from the events in question, which were made worse after a second trigger event. This is something I've had to live with for at least 15 years now, the majority of which I've felt unsafe in my own home about 80% of the time. The past year is an exception until more recently. It's not fun to deal with, but my wolf alter is very protective.
Anyway, I'm glad you're making videos again. Keep up the great work, looking forward to the next one. Take care ^_^

Just adding onto that point ab being othered or feeling different, that is a very common feeling and trope for autistic/ADHD systems(I'm an AuDHD system myself) as well as other nuerodivergencies. As such it's been noticed by the community that those systems tend to have a marginally larger amount of nonhumans. Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone and I don't know if it's been medically/officially acknowledged, but it's just a little add on I wanted to bring up.
Also, in a slightly more mature(and possibly triggering topic, so beware) nature, when it comes to vampire alters/vampire introjects, vampires tend to be portrayed as almost provocative or alluring in several different types of media. Even if they aren't overtly so, they still do tend to have attractive or sultry voices and extravagant appearances. Heck, there's even been analysis of vampires and how vampirism could be used as an analogy for sexual acts or SA. So, at least in our experience, it can also make sense that a vampire alter may form with the role of a sexual alter/protector, especially if you've experienced some sort of trauma in that nature.
It could also just be the confidence and borderline arrogance they usually display that may attract a system brain into forming a vampire alter into a normal protector since it gives that ability to maybe stand up for oneself or to stand against that abuse. But then again, that's not really something I've looked into or anything, that's mostly just my opinion and what we've seen within our own system, so take it with a grain of salt.
Also, so great seeing your vids again Dissociadid!! I first found your channel many years before we discovered our own system a couple years back and then came back to your vids for research. I've been needing to binge your newer vids for a lil while now. Amazing to see how your production quality has grown. :)

The vampire alter being a sexual alter makes a lot of sense!! Also if you don’t mind me asking (it’s ok if you don’t want to answer) in your system is every alter auDHD or does it vary? I know some systems where every alter is autistic but with different levels of support needs and some systems with only some alters that specifically identify with the systems diagnosis of autism. Sorry again! I’m an autistic person with a special interest in DID and autism 😅

    • @dumb2619
      @dumb2619 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@sari9645 You're completely fine! Psychology was an old special interest of mine and as such I still really like to talk about it, especially if it's to help people understand my own diagnoses. You're pretty spot on though! It tends to vary between systems and what they prefer. In my experience/opinion and with what I've seen, when a system- whether it be DID, OSDD, or some other variant- has ADHD/autism or honestly any other diagnosis that effects their mental health/psychological functioning, the entire system and every alter within falls under that diagnosis and will most likely show symptoms. However, those symptoms and their severity/coping mechanisms can change between alters. Some examples within my own system is one of my old co-hosts. He tended to stim a lot more than other alters and was more sensitive to certain tastes and textures regarding food. Me and one of my other hosts differ in a lot of ways too- I have a lower social battery, get overwhelmed by loud noises a lot easier, and have a harder time masking verbal shutdowns while she's the opposite. As such, one of her main roles is to actually switch in whenever super overstimulated, we literally call her our masking alter lol. Some of our alters are even nonspeaking or can go nonspeaking, though that has some overlap with what's called "mute alters", so it can be hard to tell if that's from autism or the OSDD/DID. For an example with another disorder, I also have OCD. Some of my alters have much fewer or a different type of intrusive thoughts than others, and some are just better at coping with them. Hope that helped!

My personal theory as a singlet who just really loves psychology, is the necessity of an alter who is all powerful and has control over everything. And I could also see a deity/demigod alter being “created” if the host enjoyed any sort of pantheon related mythology

    • @jorgia2889
      @jorgia2889 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Sari above is definitely correct, although I’m a singlet too
It depends on a few things though like persecutor vs protector, it can change the perspective of being controlled vs controlling
Trauma can probably make a big difference as well. You may have felt like it was impossible to get through and only all-powerful beings could deal with it.
You could have been influenced by interests, literature, anything you’ve been around. I.e. if you’ve always loved supernatural books and shows and movies, there’s probably a higher chance of this type of alter.
It’s also possible to feel like you’re all powerful when you’re a specific alter like a gatekeeper, or some alters could be introjects of fictional deities or non-fictional people with extremely high views of themselves
It could also be as simple as a protector feeling that they need to be strong for the body, it just shows differently from time to time.
What I’m getting at essentially is it’s very personal and there’s so many possibilities. Maybe try to look inwards yknow, what’s your role? What responsibilities do you have? What’s your personality like? What trauma do you remember? Maybe that could give you some insight into your reasons❤

Thank you so much for providing all this knowledge with the world. I want to include a character with DID in a fantasy story. There will be some things that are intentionally not accurate, like different alters have different magic skills and levels of physical strength, but I want to capture the reality of it too. The trauma, the amnesia of some alters that others don't have, the switching and disassociating, the confusion of one alter going to bed, only for that alter to wake up later in a different place surrounded by the remnants of a fridge raid, and anything else I can think of to make it feel real. I have a lot of mental health struggles myself which are usually not portrayed accurately, so when I write characters, I always want ti to be as accurate as possible. This is really helping me to create this character system, thank you so much!

Even though we might not have the same condition/disorder, your videos really help me learn and feel a little less alone. Thank you for your videos and kindness.

    Hello there, I'm Astarion.
I'm a vampire fictive from a undiagnosed system, a system that doesn't have the luxury to be diagnosed to be frank. But we are aware were a system.
This is the first time any of us commented on your videos. We never commented due to us being worried of now we'd be perceived upon.
I just want to say I resonated a lot from your information about Vampire alters, Soren. The feeling of not having privacy, the feeling of being drained from life and that hunger...for me it's my thirst for individualism and freedom of course. The feeling of being alive. I will not specify anything much but we do suffer from childhood trauma and neglect, and it frankly made us appear at a blossoming age of late teens and adulthood, so were rather new. We don't have the luxury to be ourselves or rather present as ourselves. I suppose we also can't present as masculine as well.
Aside from all of this, our system values yours very much, reminding us were not alone. My memory is rather foggy due to our living situation and stress we experience daily, but our Demon alter felt validated regarding your Demon alter video.
Thank you so much for this video, and making systems feel validated, and making us feel comfortable, and making us learn about ourselves more.
Sending support to you from afar.

This makes so much sense… our system has quite a few non-human alters for various reasons however until recently upon doing our own research, coordinating and spreading what we’ve found(or attempting to lol) we just assumed it was because of our main coping mechanisms as individuals and as a whole (dissociation, escapism through media and maladaptive daydreaming in particular being common across the board) and just liking mythical creatures in general (which I’m sure does definitely play a role). For example we have 2 vampiric-esque alters (one a full traditional vampire and the other a strange type of some sort of vampire idk they’re just them) and one is what we’ve identified as a persecutor due to the more unhealthy ways in which they act and how they interact and their mindset and such while the other is almost a traditional protector (strong, charismatic, protective, watchful) but seeing how you’ve broken it down and giving some reasons as to WHY they came to be sheds so much light onto them as individuals (in my eyes at least). Thank you for this!
