Never understood the whole "adding a wood floor and deck to a jon boat". I have a 14' and am a big guy and have stability problems and looked into pods but have a hard time letting someone weld on my boat

Yeah I’m not a fan of welding to the boat. Plus they can be pretty $$$. Overall I have heard great things but does seem a hassle

Hello Skinny River , Is there a problem if the priming pump is punctured? Can I encounter problems with my engine?

I own the exact same boat. I have a 6HP 2-stroke mercury on the back. I put my trolling motor in the front, I put the battery under the front seat which helps put some weight up front and helps with getting it on plane quicker. I'll also added a cheap $20 hydrofoil/whales tail on the motor. I've seen videos where they said it slowed it down a little, I disagree. It definitely gets it up on plane faster and the sooner you get up on plane the quicker you are skimming across the surface of the water as these boats don't have any draft at all.. Also since I live lakefront and leave the boat in the water from spring till fall and I already have a battery to power the trolling motor, I added an automatic bilge pump so I don't ever have to bail it following rain, because its flat I have to tilt it a little to pump it dry but its never full of water. I put some screen around the pump so it doesn't suck in debris that may clog or jam the pump, the opening though small on the pump don't stop everything. I've got some nice comfortable seats and have added plug in lights if I want to be out at night and not get killed by other boaters who may not see me. I agree with about not building your boat out like a bassboat.I once was on a guided smallmouth fishing trip in Lake Champlain and guy had a bass boat and didn't feel comfortable standing so high, with no gunnels to rest my leg against and knowing how easily a wave could jostle the boat and send me into the water. I don't think you want a bassboat for choppy water. A fully equipted bass boat can cost $100K, then you need a truck and a trailer. I've had my little crawdad over 30 years cost me $300, I added a $25 6 HP Evinrude and could take my boat places no bassboat could get because of stumps. I've spent very little on it, changed the seats a couple times and replaced the Evinrude. I enjoy you videos especially since you feature basically the same set as me.Wish I knew how fast mine went, I do know it can get a little scary and if I'm not careful I could throw myself out

Wow that’s awesome, sounds like you have the perfect little setup. I would kill to be able to live on the water and leave the boat out ready to go!!!
