I don't know how I missed this one, but I must say, Danny, this is probably your best camera work yet! Those units look sharp, and I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm jealous that they are all down there, but we do have the new SD70MAC rebuilds up here, so, I guess it all balances out.
What I like so much about Danny's videos is it isn't just trains but a story about what the train is, where it's operating, what product is being moved, local history, rail and signal history and use along with lots of quality train videos. Thank you!
It's more of a relief than an honor, unless the technology is beyond your scope of training. I'm pleased to say they stopped tossing old heads into new equipment without training them first on how it works finally. (whew)
A very nice first look at these locomotives in service, Danny! Those horns should be brand new K5LA horns. The reason they sound different from some of the newer ones on Amtrak is because of EMD's air setup and mounting location on the locomotive.
I was wondering why they sounded different from other K5LAs I've seen. I've only caught one ST70AH on CSX Q630 and the horn was way different than I normally hear on CSX
Very informative, moreso than usual this time around with all the details on the new ST70AH. Hope you can catch some more in the future. Great video and keep it up!
Ever since I heard that the new CSX SD70s were assigned to the bone valley I knew that you would be getting some good video of them. Great job as usual 👍
That's amazing. Not to brag or anything, but my brother his channel (Cincy RailFan Productions) was the first one to see them and filmed them in Covington, Kentucky. They look amazing.
Love the new EMDs. I saw 8909 coming into Lakeland a couple weeks ago. It was the trailing unit for Q603-19. Was surprised to see running on a Q train but was still a great catch. Good video Danny!
As much as I like the GE locomotives, these new EMD units are beautiful. The short blast of the horn, sounds like some of the crossings that have their own horns. Great video! Thanks again.
@phillyslasher I disagree that anything from EMD would be unreliable, as it's virtual impossible to kill a 645 or 710 prime mover. In locomotive or marine applications, these engines are truly bulletproof. Heck, even power plants use the 710. I can't comment on electronics, but I know the EMD prime movers. I've heard this anti-EMD rhetoric quite a bit, but on the flip side of also heard many guys and gals say that the EMD's pull well and are reliable and quiet. Ask a Union Pacific or BNSF guy or gal about the SD70M or SD70MAC respectively, and you'll get nothing but compliments. They love those motors. Have you ran one of the new ST70AH's?
Danny, thank you for explaining how often they have to inspect track around the 2:55 mark. I've often wondered about that, but had no clue. I live right off the CSX W&A sub in North Georgia, and we see highrailers all the time. Your videos are the best, and I really appreciate what you share with us in this hobby!
Wow! Another beautiful and informative video, Danny! Been to the Bone Valley a couple of times myself a couple times. Had a phosphate plant tour, complete with a ride in the cab of a drag line. Thanks Danny!
Beautiful catches, I just love those locomotives! I'm waiting for CN to finally buy some after a year of testing. Those things sound a bit like spaceships when they pass, probably all those turbos
Boy, you really have greatly advocated the use of those drones. The videos that can be made today because of that technology was only a dream not too long ago. Awesome videos, Awesome videos.
Great video, Danny! Nice to see these units now with CSX. I've only seen two of UP's versions here in SoCal. They look great, but in terms of engine noise, they aren't much to listen to.
They got a horn that changes key in the middle of the chord I heard and are curious if they all will sound like that. And yes this group must be watched to see if they stick around all that phosphate for a long while. If they don’t it ought to be interesting if they will take regular freight out of town in the near future. Thank you sir and love the drone for the closeups on top....
You sir have earned yourself a new subscriber. This is some great footage and narration you're giving us. Thank you sir for making these great videos, it's time for me to binge watch all of them now.
Hail from Okaloosa County FL!!! Thank you for this video! I know I am a bit late but I blame TH-cam algorithms. I am a railfan myself. Sadly, I moved to Florida from an area in southwest Ohio that was highly active with rail activity and viewpoints. Now all I have is the P&A line in Crestview and Defuniak Springs.
Wow that's a badass new engine thank you for showing me that new locomotive for CSX it's good to see you making some more videos Danny can't wait to see the next one piece out have a great day
Thanks, Danny for the videos. I "shadowed" a local in West Phoenix one day, viewing it at several different road crossings while sitting in my car. After approximately 20 minutes, the conductor walked towards me and asked, "Are you an inspector or a terrorist?". Almost without thinking, I just blurted out, "Just a rail nut!" He waved and went about his job. Love those EMDs.
Thank you for the videos....you have the best railroad content. I love the railroad. Being a conductor is the best job in the world. Thank you. GoUP...💯
Hi Danny! enjoying your videos very much because I'm from Bartow Florida. As a kid I used to watch SCL phosphate trains running east from Mulberry into Bartow and turn south and run paralell with hwy. 17 toward Ft. Meade. Back then GE C30-7's were pulling. I live in Henry County Georgia now close to Atlanta and enjoy watching and modeling Norfolk Southern RR. Thanks for the vids!
So far, none of those Tier 4 engines from either manufacturer have wowed me on the form factor. Impressive machines, to be sure, but they don't seem to have the looks that their older, less-efficient parents did. Great work as always, Danny! Those close-ups with the drone were excellent
Walkways and doors seem to be narrow. A/C is really good. Ditch lights on both ends. Quiet until you blow for a crossing. Crappy CSX farm tractor seats as usual. Ride pretty good. Adhesion is really nice. Visibility is pretty good
Another awesome video. The engineer was having fun with the horn. A great sound too. When the new SD70ace-T4s. Come on to the CSX. Boston and Albany-Aka New York Central division between Boston and Albany. I will try to catch them in East Brookfield Ma. And Palmer Mass
I haven’t had the chance to run one of these 8900 series yet. I have seen them in Upstate NY, (8902,8901)It was reported they bought only 10 of them for local jobs in the south...which is why there are horns on the long hood. Great job on your videos...
Hi Danny, another wonderful video -- combining excellent video coupled with informative information. Your "pro" voice is great. Thanks!! - Dean from Minnesota
Wonderful video Danny...Good voiceover too.. I been watching some of your older videos I don't know if you were still making new video....RF&P railroad forever !
Hi Danny just became a new subscriber and your videos are awesome and enjoyed watching them for almost 2hrs. The WAYCROSS yard is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING and my favorite trains are the "INTERMODAL" with 2-4 engines plus the DPU. Thanks again for sharing and to let you know I'm watching from the 1st state of Delaware!
They still have that new train smell! No need for a Black Ice Little Tree hanging on the rearview mirror just yet. Nice to see the old No Left Turn signals are still in place at Mulberry.
Another nice video and I'm sorry you struck out on your second outing but at least you managed to score O730 with a pair of them on the first trip. Word was they'll stick around in the BV for a year while being tested. Also, New Wales is advertised as the largest in Florida so probably not the largest in the world. The new Saudi Arabian Facility that Mosaic has a 20% buy in of is advertised as one of the largest in the world but I can't seem to quite a find a list of the largest, only lists for total country production and country reserves.
I saw CSX 8908 a few days ago in between Ft. Green and Brewster. I never thought much of it until i found out it was a brand new unit so it was a cool find after all.
Danny, thanks for the loco info. Also, a note about your quality videos versus your colleagues...I like the fact that you pan away or fade away after you have shot the engines. I for one am bored with looking at the same freight cars in a consist. I like unusual freight cars, but looking at the same set of gonds, box cars or hoppers is a waste of time. And thanks for the infor on the 'Y' signals being used by the old SAL in selected spots. 73 de WA4CIF
When you mentioned your 90's Bone Valley video, it blew my mind that you've been making videos that long! I do have your Jacksonville DVD, which itself is quite a few years old too.
Excellent coverage.
Gotta love those wet-paint engines! Everything about them makes the job a little more comfortable. Thanks Danny for sharing this.
Happy weekend 😊
I don't know how I missed this one, but I must say, Danny, this is probably your best camera work yet! Those units look sharp, and I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm jealous that they are all down there, but we do have the new SD70MAC rebuilds up here, so, I guess it all balances out.

Nice one Mr. Danny! Those locomotives look very clean!
Great video. Like in Hollywood, hunting aces deserve a sequel.
Always fun to see shiny new railroad equipment in the wild.
Monster Machines! Those new SD70ace-T4s will make a great addition to the CSX fleet!
What an honor it must be to be to operate one of these brand new locomotives!!
It's more of a relief than an honor, unless the technology is beyond your scope of training. I'm pleased to say they stopped tossing old heads into new equipment without training them first on how it works finally. (whew)

Well done, Sir!
Ever since I heard that the new CSX SD70s were assigned to the bone valley I knew that you would be getting some good video of them. Great job as usual 👍
Awesome! I see you found EMD’s new Tier 4 locomotives. Nice video
They’re absolute beasts judging by the statistics.
Also hi.
That's amazing. Not to brag or anything, but my brother his channel (Cincy RailFan Productions) was the first one to see them and filmed them in Covington, Kentucky. They look amazing.
Truly, one of the grandest machines EMD has ever made
Love the new EMDs. I saw 8909 coming into Lakeland a couple weeks ago. It was the trailing unit for Q603-19. Was surprised to see running on a Q train but was still a great catch. Good video Danny!

@phillyslasher yes, I love the GE units, as I said. It's no wonder, why you see so many more GE units now, vs EMD.

Love when Danny talks dirty technical details like that.
LOVE the lightnin' bolts! and as always, best and most informative railfan vids on TH-cam!
unique looking locomotive...I saw my first one last week in UP paint behind the big boy.....
I cannot believe how shiny these engines are! Greetings from Europe and another job very well done!
Thanks Bart!
Wow, so cool to see locomotives so clean and shiny like that, almost like big Lionel toy trains on Christmas morning.
You do a nice job on chronicaling these beasts with good use of drone shots, too. Hope to see you in the BV someday!
Wow! Another beautiful and informative video, Danny! Been to the Bone Valley a couple of times myself a couple times. Had a phosphate plant tour, complete with a ride in the cab of a drag line. Thanks Danny!
