How Much Do Google Engineers Make?

- 4 years ago I started my career as a software engineer at all these companies.
I’ll go straight into telling you that
With 0 years of experience my salary at Amazon was 112k
With 1 year of experience my Microsoft salary was 123k .
With 2 years of experience my Google salary was 169k
And that’s just salary alone. Most people don’t know this but there’s a lot of other components that go into an offer letter like equity and sign-on bonuses.
Most would say software engineers are overpaid. That’s because they are.
Anyways there needs to be more salary transparency in general. Especially with offer letters.

A few questions while watching this. 1. Which college/university did you graduate from (and what exact degree did you get... and what level: BS, MS, PhD)? 2. Where are you working now and what kinds of salaries are you looking at now? ... I mean, to leave that Google paycheck behind... be nice to know what type of opportunities are beyond it (or at least give us an idea of what opportunities are at that level of employment, if you don't want to say specifically what you're doing now). 3. which type of software engineering skills do you recommend at this point? (esp. since Nvidia's statement of "we don't need programmers anymore" or whatever else may be a potential drawback to going the soft. eng. route).

yes please answer these questions. I am so confused as to what to really study now. I ended getting so unfocused. Also so many asains are in tech its so frustrating to see the same types of people
How do people stay motivated and disciplined
I feel like generally we can disregard the nvidia ceo statement. Try to take their perspective as a business trying to fuel ai. Of course they're going to say ai is the next big thing, its in their financial interest to say so. But we are still going to need software engineers, so keep on pushing and keep on learning.

In Europe it's normal to be paid monthly, I was surprised to learn that Americans get paid every 2 weeks.
