Spanish native speaker here: you’re doing great, specially with the -er and -ir conjugations, your pronunciation is very good, I can see you developing an accent easily. Thank you for trying, it makes me so happy to hear you’re learning Spanish. We try really hard to improve our English skills and sometimes we lose part of our Spanish. Such an expressive language. Take care.

Well said, Spanish was my first language. Unfortunately my Spanish is pretty broken now. So I have to practice. The dialect is different so I get somewhat confused as I grew up in a Guatemalan/Salvadorian household. 😅
Anyways this video was great! :)👌🏼

You’re doing amazing. Your Spanish accent is perfect. I agree with everyone else about the vosotros part, my family is from Mexico and I’ve never used or heard anyone use it. It’s mainly used in Spain.

It's always interesting to see how non natives see your native language, and how they pay attention and study things we never paid attention to. But I get it, I learnt English and French, and in the latter, the conjugation is learnt in a similar way to Spanish (or at least more similar than English)

Pretty good pronunciation honestly, speaking as a non native but someone who learned near fluency.
    General tips:
Vowels always make the same sound, except diphthongs (sort of). With diphthongs, you just push the sounds into a single syllable, like 'ie' in comieron. That makes a "ye" sound "com-yer-on".
V and B are the same sound. They aren't similar; they are the same. This is why they distinguish by saying "b de burro" vs "v de Vaca" or "u-v" vs "b".
In Latin America, z and s make the same sound.
Spanish d is like a hard th from English. Very similar tongue movement.
Spanish r is closer to an English d. It's all about the tongue: note how with English d, you tap the roof of your mouth. You do the same with Spanish r. In this way, the rolled r involves flapping the tongue so it taps the top of your mouth a couple times.
When it comes to stress and accent marks, practice moving the stress around a word. My favorite for this is "telefono".
    Télefono
    Teléfono
    Telefóno
    Telefonó
Natural stress falls on the second to last syllable, unless it ends in a consonant besides s or n. Then it falls on the last syllable.
    Humano
    Dolor
    Dolores
If the correct pronunciation breaks the rule of natural stress, it needs an accent (called a tilde in Spanish).
    Teléfono
    Canción
Those few tips address the major mispronunciations by English speakers learning Spanish. Good luck!

    • @telgars
      @telgars 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Extra tip on Spanish d and r:
      Practice saying "Dora la exploradora".
Try saying "Thoda la explodathoda". That's not right, but it's not far off. Harden the 'th' by making it quicker/shorter, make the 'd' a bit more like an 'r' by "rolling it slightly". That involves tapping the top and bottom of your mouth with your tongue.

I loved this video!!! I’m a native spanish speaker and I can tell you’re doing great!!! In Mexico 🇲🇽 instead of using “vosotros” we use “ustedes” it’s basically the same, vosotros is commonly used in Spain.

    Nice vid!
But let me tell you something: as a native spanish speaker from Latin America, I can tell that 99.9% of the time the pronoun 'vosotros' and its conjugations are barely, if ever used. Don't wrap your head around them, cuz you'll eventually learn them as long as you continue to study spanish. A whole different story if you learn the spanish spoken in Spain; there they DO use 'vosotros' all the time...
As for the perfect and imperfect forms of the verbs they are used the following way, take for instance the verb 'caminar' (to walk):
Perfect form: Yo caminé a casa (I walked home) implies that you efectively walked all the way home from where you started, and the action is now complete and finished. The action is no longer taking place at the present moment.
Imperfect form: Yo caminaba a casa (I was walking home -sort of-) implies that the action was efectively taking place at some point, but whether it's finished or not is uncertain; you could've done something else on your way home. Normally, this form is often used to talk about repetitive actions or routine in general. I hope this aspect is now a tiny bit more clearer for you. Mucha suerte con tu aprendizaje de la lengua española, un saludo desde 🇺🇾!!

Funny how we are taught the formal version of a foreign language only to discover some of it is of little to no use in real conversational situations. I lived in Jordan for a period of time after studying Arabic in the US. The first time I called someone on the phone I clumsily inquired “Hal tatakalameena Ingleezee?” (Do you speak English?, conjugated for speaking to a female). The woman on the other end of the phone burst out laughing and answered “Yes, but here in Jordan we just say “Ibteckee Ingleezee.” Was I ever relieved!

Your voice when you speak is really nice. ASMR en español is one of the best. You could write and recite dialogues in Spanish and it would sound amazing. Make sure to practice with anybody at all who speaks spanish, and do not be afraid, even if you have trouble speaking fluently, you will be loved. :)

? Pues eso. Tenemos infinitos motivos para reprocharmos. De acuerdo. Pero la lengua nos hermana.

11:16 is not about context. That tilde in the o (ó) means that is in past. It's not el comó, it's el comió and i eat is just like you said: yo como.

    • @xixilegend6839
      @xixilegend6839 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@Reino de Hiperbórea It's not the fuction of it, but it does help to identify the tense of the verb. If you think about it there's no verb in future that ends ups with -o, so there's only two options left: past and present. I'm not saying it's like that in all the cases, because the tilde in the last syllable can also mean that the verb is in future.
