I'm pretty sure I found the reference if anyone wants to read it! It's called "Microbiota imbalance induced by dietary sugar disrupts immune-mediated protection from metabolic syndrome." I want to read it bc I had never heard of TH17 cells being metabolically protective. I've only ever seen them implicated in inflammatory diseases, autoimmune conditions, and cancer, so they're typically thought of as inflammatory cells.

Hi there! Yes, you can see the referenced article here: www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/sugar-disrupts-microbiome-and-immune-function-leading-to-metabolic-disorders 😊

A really good explanation-thank you! I needed another reason to help motivate me to not eat sugar.

I love that you made that connection! I was just telling one of my kids about the gut bacteria thing the other day and I have also experienced eating junk food without immediate consequence (so I'd think it was ok but it would end up dragging me down the rabbit hole). Anyway, I hadn't made that connection before as to why it wasn't an immediate problem. Thanks for bridging that gap for me!

Processed sugar vs natural occurring sugars?

Very interesting. I would like to know how much sugar and flour is too much? Also - your teeth and smile are so bright! You are just like glowing in general.
I will look more into your channel for the info on this topic though, thank you. This video was recommended to me seemingly randomly btw.

Hi there, Lauren. We would actually posit that ANY sugar or flour is too much. In Bright Line Eating, we do not eat these overly processed ingredients. We eat abundant quantities of real, whole, healthy foods that nourish our bodies. 🥰

Ok. So it sounds like Susan is saying that she was able to binge on a few days of sugar, but that it was only after she did it more than a few days that she started to gain weight

It could also be interpreted as it only taking 2-4 days to kill off good gut bacteria that a previous healthy diet had cultivated. I’m really happy about the way my guy biome makes me crave produce. I don’t want to jeopardize that.
