I have been clipping small solo cups filled with soil to the side of my greenstalk and rooting my runners for replanting to another greenstalk. It's been working great.
Hi. I recently found your channel and have enjoyed your discussion on strawberries in the Greenstalk. One point is that for first year plantings for strawberries, the recommendation is to pull all the flowers to allow the plants to establish their roots. The problem is they are trying to put their energy into two areas which is not fruitful. You might want to try that if you plant new ones in the future. I know it is hard to pull the flowers as we want fruit the first year, but this is what the experts say.
Hey hun I just wanted to tell you that I am well experienced with bush beans and I think you're doing a great job they look really good and that was a really good harvest what I would do if you get too many cuz they will produce more as the season goes just get Court bags and freeze them I wash them and freeze them and I use them throughout the winter they're good to harvest in your freezer and I don't know anything about pole beans but sounds interesting that is my tip for you ❤️🥰
Enjoyed your videos on this subject. I live in the north (zone 4b) and think the larger greenstalk planter might help strawberries survive the winter better, so I’m ordering an original setup. Thanks.
Eversweet bears first year but it takes effort to keep the initial blossoms cut off to promote root development. From the massive runners it would appear you missed those initial blossoms and allowed the plants to push runners. Both blossoms and runners on Eversweet must be kept in check early on to force vigorous blossoms in June. They will bear till frost. And my experience is Ozarks are more tolerant of being overwatered but the Eversweet are not. Perhaps your greenstalk was allowed it to dry too much between waterings and then overwatered. That will kill Eversweet. I also noticed when planting you dumped the residual peat that had washed off with the Rev into the top reservoirs of both planters - clogged up the trays keeping the Eversweet too dry? Did you produce video showing the results at harvest?
Your greenstalks look lush, the everbearing strawberries in mine are flavorless, the others in the soil were great, I don't believe I have tried everbearing before, so far I am not impressed, but they were nearly dead when I planted them and the weather has been erratic.
Not yet but the strawberries made it through winter and are flowering already. I put them in the greenhouse though so that’s why they are flowering early.
I planted 40 barefoot strawberries about 4 weeks ago (ozark beauty, albion, whopper). I have nothing (zero) on the ozark and albion. Planted in original planter. I'm new to gardening and wondering how much did you water at first and after they got leaves ? I'm trying to decide whether to try the leaf planter or stick with original. You are very experienced and great and I wondered what you might advise ? Thank you for your videos and I used your code last time for $10 off ! :)
I watered them every few days (when the soil was dry near the middle). When I planted it wasn’t hot but now they have to be watered just about daily. If you have no green growth, they may not have survived. Either they weren’t planted fast enough or they could have died during shipment. 😞
What are your thoughts about the Original vs the Leaf Greenstalk? I like the look of the Leaf, but I think it would dry out faster where I live, in the desert.
The leaf is nice because it can grow more. But it does dry out faster in the heat, and plants with larger root systems won’t do as well. I find it to be more useful in the spring and fall, though I grow bush beans in the leaf during the summer.
also another question...when you were clipping the runners were you replanting the clipped runners or do they need to be connected to the mother plant ?
So thankful for this update now I will order the leaf #GreenStalk for planting strawberries, order Ozark Strawberry plants and I will come back to your like to order it! Thank you Jill

Great idea!
I love my GreenStalk.❤ I’m going to grow strawberries this year in Florida, zone 10a. Thank you for your information. 🍓💚
I think the bush beans will continue to have bean. When you pick the beans off it will make the plant grow more flowers and turn into beans.

It’s so hard though! I’ve never been able to do it!
True so true :) !@@thebeginnersgarden

Very well done! I really enjoy learning from your content, as I am a newbee gardener. Keep up the great work!
Great update! I am looking forward to seeing the different potato yields.

The taste of my June-bearing strawberries in the ground were sweeter. Not sure if it’s the kind or the soil/water.
I did not have a great harvest with the grow bags. My buckets produced many more potatoes!
Beautiful 😍
kennebec potatoes will flower a couple weeks after the caribe.
Ozark Beauty for the win! Do you have an update after this one on the Strawberries?

@@thebeginnersgarden Hello, please where do you get your strawberry seeds?

They need to be connected to the mother plant until they are rooted themselves. The ones I clipped I didn’t save.
None of my strawberries came back in the greenstalk from last year
What zone are you? I’m in 7b and I’m hopeful they will.
@@thebeginnersgarden I am in 5b
Mine all died too.. 5b
@@3662mick oh no im in zone 5b too, did you move them inside a garage? This is my first year growing strawberries in greenstalk too
@@tinybooboopaw4116 No I kept them outside
Yukon r a determinate potato and shouldn't be hilled for those who aren't familiar with them
CAN YOU PUT MORE THAN 1 PER POCKET/

Newer varieties of potatoes don't all flower
It looks like the original (deeper pockets) could be getting some light blocked by the green greenleaf.
