I can’t believe someone made something like this. It’s a masterpiece!! As a wolf main, I can’t appreciate something like this enough. And it’s all too obvious that this took tens of hours of recording and editing to make. Keep up the good work!
A Starfox Fan, and Wolf main, I thank you so much for this!. I know this probably took a very long time to complete. Wolf is already great character, now is time to hone my claws and make him a killing machine!. We really need a guide like this for Fox and Falco...Heck even the entire cast!.
I'm glad I've learned nearly all of these combos (besides the shine ones which I'll get too soon) because even if a combo does less damage, like up throw fair instead of up throw up air, different situations call for different answers. You want to at least hit the fair instead of whiffing an up air. Facing close to ledge is a good example, don't wanna go for down throw dash attack like I've done too many times, or miss an up air because they di out.
@@clips8645 its not a RAR its an attack cancel. you cancel the ftilt (aimed away from the lucina) in its first 2 frames with a jump and hold towards wolfs back during the jump squat frames to get the bair, For the second one u can just do a normal Bair. (Attack Canceling works because of the auto short hop fuction so u will always get full drift in the direction that your aerial is coming out at)
I reference this video a lot. Very informative and is great for building combo concepts also. One thing I’d like to add is that for anyone trying to learn the combo at @ 4:53, attack cancelling the bair makes it a lot easier to do
Thank you so much for the high quality tutorial. Combos have always confused me at first but your’s is so organized. I just started Wolf this week and this is amazing!
Only possible way to make this better would be in like the top left show the ranges the combo is true at for a certain weight, but then again that wouldn't leave us with much work then would it?
Roy is about dead center of the weight class, so you have to kinda gauge how much more, or less, % the opponent needs for a combo to work. This wouldn't be hard to show as you suggest, but other things like fall speed, air acceleration, rage (on wolf), DI, etc. change the % windows of these combos, and factoring all of that in one video would be insurmountable. Best you can do is learn the matchups slowly and learn the working %s for these combos on each.
if they trip you can get a d-smash, but it will not kill and it won't do as much damage as D-throw>DA>tech chase so really no point in doing it. After about 20%, d-tilt will never trip anymore o d-tilt>d-smash can never be a true kill confirm.
I really hate how Wolf's side B sends him into a free fall, but Fox and Falco don't. Jesus Christ, still a very informative Wolf video though, thank you!
tip for when using shine in mid air to combo into bair, instead of turning around before u jump to shine, u can change direction midair while using shine and then bair
You can kill early at 10 percent with fair into full hop shine (turnaround) descending up air into full hop bair into wolf flash, and on heavies use two bairs
Shine can be DI away to avoid the Uair easily, and FH Bair> Flash is never true anyway (needs to be a SH autocancel bair). I don't even know if there' a platform in any legal stage you can use to autocancel the FH bair in time to flash, but then the angle would be too low to flash probably. I would love if you could show me a video of this being done to prove me wrong.
Yep I know it. I kept them off for consistency to give e reference point to the working %s of these combos, since without stale moves on you don't get the freshness bonus but you also don't get staleness penalty. around 90%+ of these work regardless of having stale moves on or off in training mode (only very tight stuff like Uair>Uair kill confirm or Dair>Utilt kill confirm might work at 1-2% more or less.)
It will pad I’ve been playing your game Brookhaven are very wild and I appreciate you for making the new update with the new houses in new items for your character I joined your group and your second group I don’t know if you have a second groupBut your two updates with the boss and funeral car in the taxi is great I will keep playing your game keep it up with bad like your game a lot
great video! super informative :) i was wondering if you had any tips regarding fair > bair since i have a lot of trouble consistently hitting the rar bair
It's mostly just practice, but make you're you're doing the inputs correctly. Join the Wolf Discord and we'll be happy to go over recording of your attempts to see what's the issue you're having.
great vid! amazing tips but I have few tips! -do you have any tips on how to do d throw dash attack? It seems easy but I cant do it so I do up throw -How do you do fair to bair? It seems very hard to turn around and bair at such short time great vid tho thx for helping!
김명현 not a wolf main, but It goes like this: for Dthrow DA, after you dthrow, push your control stick towards your opponent and then flick your cstick towards your thrown opponent with proper timing while still holding your control stick towards your opponent. You can flick your cstick at any time you have your control stick pushed to a side, and you’ll get an immediate dash attack. Really easy once you get the hang of it. for fair Bair, once you’re out of fair’s endlag, you can do what’s known as a RAR. For RAR, you dash one way, push your control stick to the opposite side for a very brief moment, and jump. This allows you to immediately change the way your facing when you jump, and from there you can just input the bair by pressing the attack button. Once again you can do this either during a dash, or straight from standing depending. RAR is a bit harder than instant dash attack, but is very rewarding once you get it down. hope this helped! And if you’re still confused, I can help explain clear up that confusion.
i feel like if wolf had a very reliable easy to do kill confirm. He would be the best character in the game. its very easy to build damage with wolf but ending stocks is difficult at times.
He has quite a few. Fair>Bair being the best and most consistent. Flash setups from Fair or SNair are also very powerful, while not being too hard to do (but risky).
so is the trip a percent chance (like with kirby) or is there like a really specific sweet spot for it cause sometimes it feels super consistent while others it feels random
For Wolf I do not like tap jump on, because accidentally using your DJ when you didn't mean to can make you SD. I use x/y, but for tech like IRAR or Attack Cancel a shoulder button is a bit easier if you can get used to having that as jump (I couldn't).
On super heavies it should, since they take less knockback at those lower and mid %s. I don't know which specifically would work on which specific character, but you can find out in training mode.
Sauria (Starfox Assault), Space Battle (Starfox Assault), Conveyor Belts and Puzzles (Starfox Adventures). Should probably add it into description, thanks for reminding me.
Fantastic video, been practicing these combos recently. But for the life of me I never managed to get the fair < dair kill confirm ro register as true A SINGLE TIME. I've been trying so many times, against Roy with the same percentage window, with DI on or off, with or without stales moves, I try the combo as fast as I can but the counter stays at 1. I've succeeded to get many other combos as true, even fair > bair that looks way harder to do for me, but fair < dair not once... does it still work ? (since the video is a few months old now).
Hi! Glad you like the video. Yes, Fair > Dair is certainly still a thing. Do keep in mind Dair is Wolf's slowest aerial, which means the actual timing of Fair>Dair is tighter than Fair>Bair (even tho input-wise, Fair>Bair is more demanding). You're most likely just waiting too long to FH Dair after landing the Fair. You only want to dash for 1-2 frames before jumping in order to get decent horizontal momentum, but if you do any more the Dair will just be too slow. I suggest trying it in maybe 1/2 speed or so, and get a feel for the timing and input sequence to do a quick FH Dair after landing the Fair with the necessary momentum to catch up to them in the air. Remember you can buffer the dash during Fairs landing lag!
whats the secret on those shine combos???? i feel like shines end lag lasts all the way until wolf is back on the ground, how do you get those falling aerials after???
The issue is you're holding down the b button most probably. You just want to tap down+b to have the move come out. If you hold it then the shine will just stay out.
Hard Nair happens on frames 7-9, basically as soon as the move starts. Soft Nair happens after frame 10, so the lingering part of the move. You can also see it clearly by how much damage the opponent takes and how far they are launched after being hit.
I'm a beginner and I have some issues with the short hop, I find it very difficult to short hop and move to grab is there any other way I can start a combo?
The best solution is to continue practicing short hopping. It’s essential to playing this game well. I recommend trying setting jump to right bumper, it allows you to jump + input attacks/specials more fluidly.

For fair > bair you need to use IRAR (not normal RAR) which is dash > jump + back on analog stick > cstick forward.
