OSRAM Cool Blue Boost (CBB) Mini-Review/Driving Demo - Audi S5 3.0T/D3S

- These are the OSRAM Cool Blue Boost high intensity discharge/Xenon bulbs. They are the successor to the CBI bulbs, and direct competitor to the Philips X-TremeVision gen2 bulbs. They are rated at 7000K, though I metered them and they came out to around 6400-6500K. They are pure white, with maybe only a small hint of blue, however eyes may very. I recommend these if you're looking for whiter, brighter light compared to stock 4300K bulbs.

Great video. However I'm very skeptical about 6500 kelvin rating, a lot of tests show they are around 5500 kelvin color temperature, similar to LED light of modern luxury cars.

Amazing bulbs when it’s dry on the road, but when it’s raining these bulbs are terrible. They just disappear on the road and you have really low visibility. I’ve been using them for almost 1 year, really enjoyed the blue-ish tint and the visibility on dry road but it just sucks at rain. I’m now using the cool blue intense again.
In this video you drive with High beam switched on?

dam it i’m torn between the cbb and the philips xv2, how have the cbb been? are they good for super dark roads/in the rain? and have u used the xv2s?
I've recently switched over to XV2s, the slightly warmer light helps out more on darker roads.
@@NuVega5 what was your reason for switching to the XV2s ? Just curious. I just grabbed a pair of CBB for my S5. Don't even have 20hrs on them yet but seems to enjoy them much more than factory bulbs.
@@EhFokes The CBB's are awesome bulbs, especially if you're looking for a cooler light output. The XV2's are the same just a tad warmer, which assists a bit more on darker pavement roads. I would recommend both bulbs, it just depends on the drivers preference.

Do you know Osram Cool Blue Advance? Which is more whiter CBB or CBA?
Not sure about the CBA, CBB is white with a blue hue.

Hey man I just got these bulbs too for my M2 and I was wondering if they "break in" or something and it changed the color or does it stay the same and do they get brighter with like 10 hrs of use like Ive read about

I have a 2017 X5 and mine cool blue boost has a yellowish color to it…. Don’t know ifs the bulb or my housing causing that. Help.
Did you buy the bulbs from a reputable seller? It looks like there are many fake products out there......... After installing mine, they definitely look much better than the original ones (that in my case were Osram not sure if classic or original, the car came with these ones, I was expecting Harison Toshiba's instead). The color light may not be 7000k, but it does look very similar to LED light color, the car looks much modern. Regarding to how bright they are compared to the 4200K ones, well, IMO it looks about the same. So the main gain is the change in color without loosing light output as the bluer the light color the lesser light output. I know that these are expensive, but it may be worth it to try to get a new pair, and see if this time you get better ones. 😢 I am sorry for that.

Mine were pretty much white from the start
Real? My lights after 4 hours of yellow green.But according to Osram are original CBB

how long did your bulb take to run in? am on CBB too on 35w ballast, and its still somewhat yellow in colour.
I don't recall exactly but they were pretty white from the start, I can only imagine they have got whiter since. Where did you buy them? Lot of fake bulbs out there.
@@NuVega5 bought it from powerbulbs. Gotten them with 25% discount. Trying to run in the bulbs driving them on even during daytime

i have audi a4 b8 and they are not white from the start, they seem more yellow. I will wait untill the burn-in. They are real CBB from amazon.de

How was the high beam?
I rarely use my high beam due to a lot of street lights, but occasionally I had to flash people for having their brights on, and they got the point so I'd say they are quite effective, lol. The times I did use them they were plenty bright.

Have you found that they have got bluer as they have burnt in?
They seem to be the same, not gaining any more color, pretty steady.
@@NuVega5 nice one thanks I was going to buy a set this week but was a bit worried they would go cooler after 40 hours use, so they are pretty much white which is what I want

Ja.Letztes Jahr bei Car Fantasy und es waren CBI.Jetzt bei Amazon bestellt und CBB bekommen,aber das Licht ist leider etwas weißer wie die CBI.

i assume you have 35watt ballast but these lights are rated at 5500k
These are OEM ballasts so yes they are 35w, and the bulbs are advertised from the case as 7000K, but when I checked them they were more around 6600-6700K.

@@mojojojo_BB XV2 is definitely better on wet roads considering it's 5000K. I like the intensity and stylish appearance of the CBB though. So, which one did you buy since it's been more than 10 months? Thanks
